I always spring for Premier Parking at Blossom..

Blossom is one of the few places I will purposely park close to the front and prepare for a lengthy stay after the show. We always tailgate before and after shows there, especially Dave. That road is absolutely a nightmare to be on with high amounts of traffic but also well worth it because of the venue.

Two other venues that have horrible exit operations include Red Rocks (depending on the lot) and Tanglewood Music Center in Massachusetts. But again both are beautiful venues that make the drive worth it to attend.

OK, I've gotta ask... are you, Siouxie, the one who FB messaged PointBuzz asking for someone to direct traffic? Because that would be great.

Otherwise, I'm trying to make an "...And The Banshees" joke, but nothing is quite fitting.

No, that would not have been me, but I love it. And it's Siouxsie. ;-)

LOL! I don't often pay attention to post signatures, but I think 99er's is quite appropriate here!

I've had that for so long now that I can't remember where I got it. I try to live by that but fail often

Here is an idea for upper management to help with the traffic issue.

They used to put a green piece of paper on your wienschield to let the traffic hosts/hostesses know that you were going to Soak City or the Resorts.

So why not put a blue piece of paper on the cars who are going to the water park, and a red one on the cars who are going to the Resorts. Everyone without a color coded piece of paper parks up front in the main parking lot, preferred lot, or valet; (whichever they choose). I think trying that would very much cut down on the traffic problem. Also, maybe they could use the big employee busses as the shuttles for the guests and the little busses for the employee shuttle.

^Theres a reason for having the big busses for Employees

Corkscrew, Power Tower, Magnum, & Monster/ Witches Wheel Crew 2011

They give you a rear view mirror tag if you tell the toll gate you are going to CP Shores. I got one for my car last Saturday.

bgiese, I can't argue or deny that because I don't know. But when I was there Memorial Day Weekend, they gave me a tag to hang from the reiwview mirror for preferred parking. I can't post the pic of what I'm talking about for two reasons.
1) I don't have any of them in my "keep pile"
2) don't know how to post a pic on here

But back when I was in junior high, high school and early college (I graduated high school in June of 2010) they would put a green square pice of paper on your wipers that had a picture of snoopy surfing if you were going to Soak City or the Resorts.

Only reason I mentioned the big busses for the guests was that when I was there this past Sunday with my family and my younger brother's girlfriend, we took the shuttle from the front of the park to Sandcastle Suites. There was a mob of people waiting (more so than usual). Two busses pulled in together and we luckily got on one and after my dad, myself, and my bro's girlfriend got on, there was literally no room left. The traffic was soooo bad that the driver let us off by planning & design and we walked the rest of the way to sandcastle cause if we would have stayed on, what should have taken 15 minutes would have taken 25 to 30 minutes because of the traffic problems. I completely understand that it was a weekend compared to a weekday and it was the end of July, but it was so crowded that they were parking cars on the grass at the cottages/cabins if they were going to the water park and this was in the middle of the day. So I got the idea of the bigger busses from the shuttle driver. (Just wanted to point that out).

^^The problem with that is enthusiasts telling the gatekeeper that they were going to soak city for early entry. In years past 2007-2016 they issued you a white rectangle Resort Parking permit at the registration desks. This year you get a small receipt printed paper for proof of parking or you barcode on your confirmation email.

What they are doing blocking the soak city lot until half hour before it opens now is probably the best they can do to reduce abuse of the CPS lot, as it prevents the early entry parking in that lot and the pile up of non-resort guests at the Resort Gate.

They gave you the white rectangular card along with the green square during that time of when I mentioned the green paper.

Yes, I remember those green squares. As I always stay on point I only ever needed the resort permit.

But that still didn't stop people from just driving back there and parking in the lot. Actively closing the lot now beforehand stops the abuse.

It only stops abuse at early entry, not for the rest of the day. When I park back there they really have no way of knowing that I will actually enter the water park or that anyone will. You can tell the toll booth anything.

One of my friends drives the big employee buses this year. I'm sure if the park could get away with a smaller vehicle they would. I don't know what the requirements are for the smaller shuttles but they apparently were recruiting through area school systems for people trained to drive the school buses. My friend didn't need to apply, the park contacted them and they are not being paid minimum wage.

New for 2019!!!!! Super Premium Parking

In 2019, skip the 2 hour wait to get off the peninsula after a long day at Cedar Point or Cedar Point Shores. Park in a convenient shaded and sheltered parking garage on Cedar Point Dr. After security pre-screening at the garage, hop aboard the new CP&LE Express. Immersive 4k displays take you on a journey of CP history as you zip above the causeway. At the end of your ride, disembark at the new RMCMS/Gemini entrance plaza where you encounter no waits to enter the park.

Super Premium Parking costs only $15 for Platinum Pass Holders or $25 for park guests and includes the train ride. Train ride is $10 for CP Express hotel guests.

/s

p.s. As many times as ppl have said CP needed to move parking off the peninsula and build a monorail, I was shocked someone hadn't said it as a serious response on this thread.

Building a monorail to mainland parking isn't a serious response to parking issues. People tend to underestimate the amount of infrastructure and support needed for a monorail (much of the system would be built over water, a large maintenance facility would be necessary, such a monorail would require two tracks) that would only be used for half of the year.

And after all that expense and work we would all just whine and moan about how long we had to wait for the monorail and how we could have driven there and back by now in our car.

Although the CP & LE Express idea someone had wasn't that crazy of an idea. What if they extend the train line to the front of the park after they demolish Cedars and reroute the line the line after Frontier Town to a route that takes you closer to Shores with an additional station built there?

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

@pete this is probably an expensive solution but using the train as an actual mode of transportation would be the perfect solution for the park and it would also help connect/unify Cedar Point Shores, the hotels and Cedar Point (dry park).

Tall and fast not so much upside down...

[Noggin gets bogged down in details]

I like the idea, but .... what route would it take to get close to Cedar Point Shores, and to the front of the park? Wouldn't it have to cross broad expanses of pedestrian-heavy areas? And if someone parks in the main lot but is only going to CPS, how does the park control access?
