"Cedar Point is building for the future!"

The Wildcat actually rests on a cement slab and is very portable. It is actually in the location where the Bayurn Curve and Shwabancien (sp?) were located about 15 years ago. It does rest on horizontal 6x6 timbers though.

I agree that it would be rather pointless to move it right now. It is in a great location.

I doubt Wildcat is moving. If it was, why would they have put the sign up? If it was moving the park would probably just tell us on the sign. It would probably read "The new home for Wildcat in 2003", so I doubt its moving across the park.

No way are those footers for the Wildcat, that's even more far fetched than Walt's image of Sandor Karnacs in the trees!

Unless you start first thing in the morning.

It doesn't take much more to move Wildcat than it did to move it for the county fairs and carnivals it was designed for.

Frankly, you'll only see a sprinkling of very small footers on the few park models he ever built (read: BGT Scorpion). Even that wouldn't be much of a project.

If its a coaster it better be good!
*Going to break my silence*

Actually, I just caught up now. Wasn't there some website or person that claimed/joked that when they moved Wildcat, the employees all picked it up at the same time and walked the coaster down to its neew location. :)

I think they will add something new there since the sign about the future. Maybe a coaster, but also it could be some type of flat ride. I mean Cedar Point has there pattern of getting something large every 2 years. Why break it? Attendance is pretty good, and getting better. Also, maybe it's a big(ger) flat ride, like something from S&S.

My 11 cents.

See thought how this is Cedar Point they can also build a ride that none of us have ever heard of or even imagened.

I was there today, and checked out the "clearing" everyone sees from the Power Tower cam.... from Iron Dragon, and Paddlewheel. It's the area where the old guy rides his bike with wings toward the Paddlwheel boat. The "truck" is a cherry picker next to the Iron Dragon track. There is nothing new back there, or on the Millennium Island. From the Magnum lifthill, the "area 51" looked like it was becomming over- grown with weeds during all the inactivity behind the wall. From the Gemini, you could see one big footer, but that was all. They announced Millennium Force in August, maybe they'll do the same here.........whatever it is, I'm sure it will be awesome. Very short lines today for being the Sunday before the 4th!!!!

while Deanne is right on almost everything that was posted, I'm afraid that MF was announced in July of 1999, not august. and yes, CP has been having some attendance problems, but overall has had an increase of 3% over last year thus far..

How is an increase a problem?

I was under the intention that, yes, they are down in attendance, but I still thought they were starting to rebond and make a comeback.

Cedar Point's boost was 6% over last year. 3% was the company as a whole not counting the new acquisitions.

I think some of you are a little excited here. Its only rummors and speculation. I just can't wait until some of you are crushed when you find out that its not some giant thingamagig and a Huss Frisbee.
I know...I know... as a newbie here and a former Cp'r my comment won't carry much weight...but here goes anyway.

If you think that the powers that be would entrust ANY information (no matter how small or trite) to an employee who might just say something... well you gotta be kidding. If anything leaked out, there would be hell to pay and a witch hunt in progress to find the loose lipped fool. I'm not sure, but I'd guess that anyone who had even the slightest knowledge of the future project would have to sign a non disclosure contract. I also bet that these people who know are longtime trusted people who know how to keep their mouths closed. When Cp is ready to let the world know, be assured they won't leave any corner of the media out of the hullabaloo... just my .02

Well, I knew it was July or August because I found the awesome media kit in the mailbox when I got home from mountain biking. I knew it wasn't as early as June. I tried to do a good job "spying" the other day. Will do the same if I go this Sunday too! I'm sure whatever it is, it will be a great addition.....

Keep em' coming gang! lol This is high quality entertainment. Watch them totally blow everyone out of the water when they announce whatever they are doing, probably a bigger version of Sir Rub-a-dubs-tub. I don't know what will be better, getting something really awesome and can't wait to ride or something really crappy that i can't wait to read everyones disappointing posts. LOL! Ok, i know which one i would want more ;). Enjoying all the speculation, keep up with the spy work.

It seems to me that if Jeff made a completely new forum for "Area 51" it has to be something of substantial caliber...

"Your obssesed w/ that place aren't you?"

Why are some of you being so critical for a lot of us thinking something major is going there? I could turn it around and say why would you think CP would block off an area, put a "building for the future" sign, start this early...just to put a flat ride in or a sky ride or a restaurant. They could have done that this past offseason. Now that makes no sense. I'm not saying it's going to be a coaster, but what's wrong to hope for one?
