JULY 4th!!!!!!
Well, I don't think you should rule out the S&S coaster. I think we would know SOMETHING if another park was prepping land, and pouring footers for a new S&S. Do we know anything? Put the pieces together!
So far...we got no idea What its going to be...your already building coasters here now...i say we wait...stop the Bull$%@^ .....and just wait for an announcment or some REALLY hard evidence.

Are you sure that half pipe deal is Intamin? Looks a whole heck of a lot like a Vekoma Hammerhead Stall to me.

Welcome back Magnum riders how was your ride?

I thought that is what Arrow's Fish-hook was gonna look like?!

------------------
"Your obssesed w/ that place aren't you?"

Actually Arrow's fishook is more of a drop ride then a coaster. Just like Demon Drop.

OK Imagine this a ride much like demon drop but instead of those kind of cars you enter a car much like those on Superman the Escape. You are then pulled backwards up to the top of the track where you are realeased to travel the same path you just went up and then through the staition and then unlike Demon Drop you go back up at more then a 90 degree angle meaning you are basically upside down. You then rock back and forth a little bit until you are braked to a stop. That is an Arrow Fishook.

Welcome back Magnum riders how was your ride?

I find all of this speculation quite funny and tiring. After taking two nights to read through the 17 pages of this mess, I have concluded two things:

1) I'm insane for reading all of it.

2) No one really has any clue what they're talking about.

After having watched "Men in Black" 7 times while recovering from having my wisdom teeth pulled I came up with the following idea for you to mess around with! Cedar Point is building a giant neuralizer (it was a gift from some friends from out of town) so they can carry on their construction of the new MiB headquarters (the Harlem tunnel vent building got a bit smoggy)! Then all the happy little visitors won't know what is being constructed, and they'll forget that they even visited the park, and come back again, thus boosting revenue!

Really people, while some of you may enjoy "whishing", please, spare me the agony. Maybe Cedar Point is building a new water tower, or perhaps a windmill power generator, Lake Erie winds are strong enough.

As much as I'd like for some of these "wishes" to come true, the reality is that unless someone here really is "in the know" (highly unlikely) or made an extremely lucky wild guess, most or all of these things may not come true. The construction may be for a coaster, or a flat, or a utility. The thing is, I can assure you (99%) that the people who know have not posted a single thing about what they know. Those "in the know" probably use this forum for some mid-day stress relief.

Now, being that I haven’t seen this "green track" lying around, I can't accurately comment on it, however please recall how many rides (of any type) in the park use some type of green track/support which said track could belong too.

Anyone who thinks they can make out anything small on that web cam must either have triple bifocals or have the web cam and a monitor with a resolution of about 150,000 by 100,000.

Why don't you just wait till the announcement; whenever that may be? Usually organizations don't announce a press conference or announcement till days or possibly a few weeks before the actual announcement. Why? Life happens, things change, the stock market takes a roller coaster ride, and there suddenly isn't money in the budget.

There is evidently something going up given the wall with footers behind it, but all they are, are footers, and the only thing that remotely came to my mind when I saw a picture of these footers is that they are designed to hold some short, tubular structure, likely not to exceed around the 50 foot mark, given their smaller footprint.

To me, the large square imprint in the sand looks like a mark that a bulldozer would make when setting its front scoop down in a resting position, perhaps to dig the hole for the footer right across from it with its small scoop and arm.

Actually the width and length of a footer has little to do with how tall the structure is/will be. (I think) It mainly has to do with depth. I know it will not be a restaurant if those footers really are 30 feet deep. This is because houses have footers 2 - 4 feet deep. Now, because coasters require footers 30 - 75 feet deep, don't count on one. But how do we know the footers are even 30 feet deep? We don't. I say Huss/Intamin Giant Flat.

If we do get a small roller coaster an Arrowbatic would be cool.
The width and length of a footing can have a lot to do with the height of the structure it's supporting. Two main types of footings...spread footings and pilings. I've noticed many coasters at Cedar Point use spread footings which require a large horizontal contact area to spread the weight out. Spread footings work particularly well in sandy soil, hence their widespread use at Cedar Point. Pile footings are very narrow...sometimes just slightly bigger than the support and are typically used in dense soil, or soil with poor bearing capacity. As S00perGIR said, their strength is determined by their depth but pilings are somehwat uncommon at Cedar Point. The larger the footing, the higher OR heavier the structure it can support.

In every new ride since Magnum, I don't think I've seen pilings used at all in the construction photos.

Okay, I recently talked to some higher-ups, while some of you think that its impossible to do so, its not like Mr. Kinzel is the president of the United States. I work in Park Services, cleaning the park and so forth..each day I talk to Mr. Kinzel because each day, or almost every day, he walks through the park on his daily tour. He doesn't talk. Nor does Mr. Keller. So not even Jeff knows what it is. Trust me. Point being, I worked out at CP in April, lo and behold a 70 by 50 ft concrete slab/footer was being covered in that fenced area, the concrete was poured into a 30ft deep hole. Now, based on rumors, Troika, Chaos are being removed, there IS construction on the MF island, and if you forgot, CP had their height restriction raised recently..heres my guess:

435 ft Intamin Impulse:100 mph

Have fun...

Wai-wait-wait--wait a minute... let me get this right. You honestly think they are going to build 2 Intamin Impulses? One after another? Or did you forget that they *just* got done building one of those?

Height restriction? Please... CP gets a height variance against Sandusky's zoning on a case-per-case basis. There is no set limit.

And you don't know jack(TM) about what I do or don't know.

Thanks for clearing up the height limit thing, I was a little confused because I didn't think they had one, and of course, they don't.

Back to the topic, another impulse? Maybe you meant a Xcelerator type of ride, the "rocket coaster".

MIA ran into the height variance deal this year with the ripcord. It was a matter of one of the Cedar Fair reps showing up to a council meeting and explaining why this structure will be good for the community (and not damage it).
I'm NOT going to take the time to read through the whole post, so can someone PLEASE summarize for me?

As for the MiA height variance, didn't they already obtain a 200+ foot height variance in 1999? If me senses serve me right they got that variance for the "hypercoaster," and then never built it.

My best guess is a rocket coaster like Xcelerator at KBF.

Xcelerator was a test for what will be a bigger and better version at CP...and Jeff, you've let it be known elsewhere that you DON't know Jack about this new attraction, so drop it. And yes, CP has a height restriction, I can find the website for the FAA where that is located. forget about Sandusky Airport? CP is used as a guide when those planes are landing there, many times you can hear it mentioned on the scanner..

Whatever dude... other than Sandusky's zoning regulations, you show me the restriction.
