"Cedar Point is building for the future!"

I remember that from last year. too bad it wasn't worth trying to decode it, I couldn't stand the disappointment, but those were fun times!!

Burke Lakefront Airport is located a couple thousand feet from a 850 foot building.
I've been reading through this thread and the one that preceeded it without saying a single word until now. This new ride/attraction/thing is going to be a coaster. Why? Because of the two large footers behind the fence in the area that used to be the Dodgems. These two footers are too large to be any thing other than a coaster. Now the question is, what type of coaster will it be. There are many different types that it could be.

1. Flying
2. Thrust Air
3. Mega Looper
4. 4D
5. Something similar to Xcelerator

As far as manufacturers go, any of them are possible but the mega looper and flying coasters would most likely be B&M.

Any type is possible because no track or trains have been spotted and actual pictures taken of them that prove their presence.

Out of these 5 possibilities, I don't know or pretend to know what it will be. But I think that it will be a Thrust Air coaster. It is a good possibility because of the fact that no other coasters of this type reside in the immediate area, 4Ds are too unreliable, and Xcelerator has yet to prove how easy it will be to maintain in the long run, more than 1 year.

Mozilla may have taken two years to reach v1.0, but it is more stable and secure than IE will ever be.

The Griffing Sandusky airport is not even close to Cedar Point and the approaches arn't over Cedar Point. If Cedar Point wants to build up, Sandusky will let them.
Since when can you look at a footer and know for sure it is a coaster? I've seen a lot of footers and I couldn't tell if it was going to be a street light or a Porta-Pot. Come on, enjoy the season and let them get a little further. Right now it's all guessing and I would much rather be outside in the fresh summer air than thinking about what Cedar Point is going to build next. Go pick some flowers for your wife (that is if they arn't brown ;) ).
So, let me get this straight. We all have our own hopes, wishes, and theories, but is Matt2003 saying it will in fact be an Xcelerator type ride? I guess there's only one way to find out...and that's to wait for the official word.

Let your mind go...and your body will follow...

After the last few posts, the plot thickens...

I'm glad to hear about the massize size of the footers, because that can only mean one thing. Big coaster! The manufacturer, on the other hand, is going to be the final piece of the puzzle.

Ok....is it just me or do the footers look a tad ummm....old....i swear i see rust on them...but for all that land to be cleared for those, there has to be alot of support under there....hmmm

CoastFreak, it could just be light surface rust. That light surface rust can actually protect the steel a bit.

Like I said, someone PLEASE tell me what's going on (I'm not reading through the whole post), and where these "pics" are that everyone is getting stuff from.
MiA Jon: Everyone is over reacting to the area around Magnum/Chaos where the bumper cars used to be. There is a wooden wall that has been built to prevent people from seeing some footers that seem to have grown in size and importance with no work being done to them.

There really are no good pictures except the ones people have in their minds.

I cannot wait till whatever is announced and everyone is disappointed/pissed at Cedar Point. This is as bad as my 8 year old deciding he wants to do something and getting mad when I say he can't

Fairwell Dan!

Those of you who think this thread is stupid or pointless must find it exciting in your heart, otherwise you would not be responding or reading posts. In other words, we are all hoping for a new coaster to brag about. What's wrong with that? There are big footers there, and I don't think it's for a large lamppost. Nor would Cedar Point build a wall around a possible lamppost. Funny, Kings Island builds a wall and we all think they are getting something big for next season. CP does the same thing and there are those trying to pass off that we are getting next to nothing.

Sorry gang, but I have a gut feeling that we are all going to be very excited. What has CP done in the last 10 years to give us a reason to be disappointed?

Why can't it be something big? The footers are around 30 ft deep, Wicked Twister, Vertigo and Millennium Force were only around 10-15 ft deep. The space spiral which is a 330 foot free standing tower is only around 30 ft in the ground. I will be happy with a large thrill ride, but I like guessing with others on what the next ride might be.
Its hilarious how you people can look at these 3 footers and start guessing the height of the ride. For all we know those footers are for transfer track! I'm no construction expert, but I'm pretty sure that theres a huge difference between the depth of the footers for Millennium Forces pullout compared to its transfer track or brake run.

"Wheres the Callahan factory?!?!?"

Well there are two footers and a tarp, people call it a third footer, but no one is sure what it is. The only reasons were guessing 400ft; we are trying to match it up with Werner's announcement in the US. It could be just a large thrill ride, but most Huss topspins use square footers, and the other thrill rides would use four footers, which they would have poured all the footers at the same time. I am pretty sure there too deep and large to be transfer track.
I believe there are just two footers, but if there were three, in the shape of an equilateral triagnle you might end up getting a coaster that looks like this.

Just another vivid idea of what might make itself at home in Area 51. (Station by Troika, Chaos - - launch along lagoon, tophat, turn, spike...)

Anything is possible

I figured it out!

Dan left about the time all this was "discovered".

So, Dan has been hired as a consultant by the manufacturer of this new coaster. He had to stop posting due to a gag order in his contract.

So, they are building a new 500 ft giga-coaster called "The Haverlock"!

Who's Gonna Razz Dan til He Posts Again!

Earlier today i visted the PT webcam which i do every once an awhile, and noticed that the cleared area looks much smaller, i couldnt figure out why, so i right clicked and saved, i just went back and looked at it again and you can clearly see a dump truck/cement truck...im leaning towards a dump truck. I have the picture saved but dont know how to put it on here...if anyone wnats to see it, tell me how to put it on a website and ill be happy to do so later tonight when i get home around 11 or 12. Also i looked at the cam again and its super blurry in the cleared area, its real hazy around the whole park, but the cleared area is super blurry ill go save a picture of that also

D/\MN GINA!!!!!!!!
Here's my prediction.

Alright, we know that a footer 75x50 feet and 30 feet deep isn't there just for show. This thing is massive!. The largest footers for MF were, I believe 56x56 and 25~ feet deep. Now we can judge that the footer being so much larger will support something much larger.

I say that Cedar Point moves Troika beside the Super Himalaya, or in that general vacinity, and Chaos is moved beside the bathrooms beside Magnum. There are several queues that are no longer in use behind those bathrooms that could make room for Chaos/ be used for the ride itself.

This frees up a huge straightaway for the coaster. For a launched ride like an Intamin "rocket coaster" the longer the straightaway, the longer the acceleration, the faster the coaster. I say that the estimates for a coaster 100+ mph/ 400+ ft aren't far off in estimation. A vision I had of the ride that would be very cool is to have the large "Area 51" footer as one of the support bases for an inverted tophat like on Xcelerator. Then the other tower would be on the island between MF's overbank and the lagoon. There would be a huge amount of unsupported track, but Intamin's box trusses have proven themselves. As for the elements after this, I have no clue, and just assume wait for the announcement.

I think that Xcelerator was a large scaled guinea pig for Cedar Fair to see how it was received by the public. If I'm wrong, then they are really doing a good job keeping things under wraps, but if I'm right then we will se something insane that will change the skyline of Cedar Point and reaffirm its status as America's Rollercoast!
