Why would you test a ride designed to go 82 MPH at over 100 MPH?
Wouldn't you?

"Wheres the Callahan factory?!?!?"

Yeah, if I was building one that needed to reach speeds over one hundred miles per hour...

Jeff said "I agree that the park isn't going to fail long term, but they're not exactly making very good decisions right now. Hyper or not next year, I don't think anyone will notice given what's going on down the road..." I am thinking this is a little hint about CP next year, Jeff said that in a post on coasterbuzz. Jeff was talking about SF's not making the right decisions.

Yeah, too me that pretty much sounds like something in the 400ft. range coming to CP next year. However there is another way to look at what he said. Just the fact that who cares that SFWOA is getting a hyper, CP has a Giga coaster. Although you can argue that by stating you don't need height to make a good ride, which you don't at all.

I haven't seen Area 51 in about a month or two, but I would guess Intamin Hydraulic launch 400ft tall. Unfortuanately I would rather call B&M simply because the Uptime of Raptor and Mantis are better then MF and WT. Now I believe that is the case that B&M's reliability is better then Intamins. I would like to hear a good answer as too the truth on that though...Bedtime

This second hill is my favorite part of the ride. It is so Cool!

Dan not going to CP anymore??..Just a big Scam

B&M is more reliable than Intamin for a few reasons. First, B&M knows their limits. They don't build such extreme rides because they know the risk of downtime is greater. Also, they use superior quality products. Intamin uses low quality products and uptime suffers because of it. As for the new ride being 400 ft......hmmm, I don't know. I could see it barely beating SD2K for tallest, but 400' is very tall. It would cost a bundle and the launch would have to be ludicrously fast. Without friction or wind resistance, and *barely* making it over the top, it would have to be going about 110 MPH. With all the normal factors against it, I'd say it would have to hit 125 MPH to safely make it over a 400' hill. If they want a height record, I would not bet on 400'.

Limits? Down time and size have nothing to do with each other. And since when do you know anything about the materials Intamin uses? What products are you talking about?

I believe, Jeff, that after MagnumAllan read and heard about MF and WT having a little more than usual downtime, he assumed that Intamin doesn't use "quality products". Personally, I'd like to know what his definition of "quality products" is, in coaster terms...

Soak City+70 degrees=fun? Hey, at least I didn't miss 2 opening days!

Steel isn't just steel. The way it's manufactured can greatly affect it's strength. The more care a steel firm puts into the mixing of ingredients, the appropriate temperatures, and the right pressure in the rollers, the stronger and less variable the steel will be. Some say Gionavola makes the best steel in the world...there truly is a difference.

Well, B&M used to be a part of Intamin.

I think this clearing everyone is talking about has been there for some time. I found a web cam image I saved on 12/09/01. Granted all the trees are bare and you can see MF track when normally you can not, but it clearly shows that the clearing is there. And I'm sure somewhere in this mess of 20 pages, someone has said that already ;)

Every night I go on to CP.com and check the cams. PT's would say the correct time, But the WT cam always stops at like 21:39 or some weird time like that.

I wonder why that is? If they are going through all this trouble to hide whatever they are doing, they should at least pack up that welding equipment which was just lying around the back spike when we rode on tuesday.

There is a little more then just welding equipment lying back there.

21:39? That's 9:39PM, right?
It's a new day, time for a new thesis. 417 ft. tall. 107 mph. Intamin "Rocket" coaster. Will have the word 'black' in the name, maybe something like 'black phantom', or 'black hole' but no 'the' in front of it. It will be announce on the last day of July, and be finished next July. Believe me on this one.

no... i'm thinking it'll be more like 418 ft tall and 107.3 mph, but... nice try, though.
If it is an Intamin Rocket Coaster, I think it would be cool of the launch part of the ride was enclosed, and then right before the top hat, doors open, and the train bursts out of the tunnel. It would be really cool. Kind of like Test Track at Epcot, when it seems like your about to run into the wall but then the doors open. That would be cool.

The tunnel could have different lighting effects too. Or keep it pitch black and call it "Black Hole" or something like that.
