That's just a small corner of a line of rebar in different shapes and lengths.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Looks like some serious pouring is happening on the island's sea-ment pond, given that there's 3 cement trucks on-site at once.

Actually, there have been as many as 5 on-site at once. Progress. :)

Go look at what Silver Dollar City is building next year. This is the kind of creativity that is needed in 21st century amusement parks, especially ones who bill themselves as the best in the world.... and it is $3 million less than STR! Get a clue Dick!

STR = FAIL! Not because its not a roller coaster, but because it lacks creativity in every aspect possible. http://www.sdcriverblast.com/index.html

And where would a ride like that be placed at Cedar Point?

Absurd.

^^That looks so much fun.

^ It could have went in that where STR is going now

I guess your perception of space is off.

River Battles are better suited to be along a midway where the crowd will be able to interact with the ride. I don't think a river battle is much different of a footprint than STR. It might even be smaller. But, even if you did build it at Cedar Point, construction costs would be completely different. SDC doesn't have the very high water table and sandy soil to deal with. In addition, it wouldn't surprise me if the labor costs are cheaper in the area where SDC is. Plus the entire ride is at ground level, there is a construction cost savings there too. To compare the cost of 2 completely different rides in 2 completely different parts of the country is not a fair comparison.

I don't want to start a fight, because I respect your opinion. But I think STR can be good and creative. I know it may get me soaked, but I love the rocks and the rapids at the bottom of the second hill seen in the animation. Plus I believe people on these boards have said that there will be themeing elements in the finished ride that were not in the animation. I think we should wait till the ride opens to say it lacks creativity; let alone a fail. I mean CP wanted a flume. And there isn't a whole lot you can do with a flume alone. Let's just wait till we see the finished product before we make judgements.

No one has seen the "final" version of STR yet, not to mention the obvious fact that no one has ridden it. I would choose STR over a river battle (ala Dollywood's).

I'm not sure what you mean by the statement concerning creativity and "21st century" amusement parks. Hasn't Disney been around for some time? Regardless of how much you like it, I would call TTD fairly creative. I would call Maverick creative...

Cedar Point cannot possibly have "every" type of ride out there. They filled a void in their lineup...why is this such a problem?

If I want a more "themed" experience I will choose to go to Dollywood, BG, or Disney...Cedar Fair parks are their own "breed".

And how exactly does that provide a family water ride that doesn't leave you soaked? You know, that gap left when WWL was removed?

Just my personal opinion, but I will take STR over this any day of the week, even though it lacks creativity and is apparently outdated and a FAIL before it has even been completed.

The rumor is that CP even had this pushed back a year because of the economy. They had a extra year and they still don't know height restrictions?

That's what I don't get. If you're building a family ride, shouldn't one of the main priorities center around ensuring the whole family can ride it?

Maybe the reason for the delay is because that is one of the main priorities. I haven't the first clue how the decision is made, but perhaps the ride needs built/tested/adjusted to make this decision?

I know it looks like it will be a great addition for the park! I know I love my coasters, but I do love to ride other rides too! I keep my fingers crossed for a B&M in 2011!

Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs

I still think this ride is terrible, its a figure eight floaty ride.

Why don't you actually ride it first before you judge it?

What other B&M do we need? Most flying coasters besides Tatsu are uncomfy and boring. There hasn't been a Floorless Coaster built in a while and we don't need one anyways. We already have the best Hyper Coaster out there and a inverted coaster. Dive Coasters are overrated. What would we need from B&M?
