Cedar Point Announces New Water Ride for 2010 Season

Surely that's not very good for the environment. ;)

This may be just me, but why are they surveying things now? Granted I do not really know much about the construction process, but I would think that would be one of the very first things you would do when designing a structure.

They're not surveying the land. They're using survey equipment to mark the land as to where things will be.

Brandon

Ah! That makes alot more sense. :) Thanks dj.

To be used for free water at food stands? :)

Exactly. :)

I would have thought they would be all out of small plastic cups because certain folks have been getting 4-5 of them filled with free water every 15 minutes all day long. Wouldn't they be using the 12 and 20 oz glasses that they are now hoarding? :)

What ever the spiral stairs were for, they're on the move now. 3 different parts got moved out of the boneyard today.

I've been thinking, and I want to moderate my comments about this ride from a few weeks ago.

I think STR is really a shoot-the-chutes, and not a flume in the traditional sense. If you think of this ride as a shoot-the-chutes, it looks nice. Hopefully it will turn out to be something like Tidal Wave at BGT.

My initial extreme disappointment was based on my expectations that WWL (whose loss still pains me) would eventually be replaced by a traditional flume.

I am still quite bummed that we won't have a classic flume at the point though.

I have to say, I'm a tiny bit concerned about the amount of trees they're currently removing from the Frontier Trail/boneyard tree line. I'm curious as to what they're making room for, especially on the east end of the site.

A B&M Floorless... ;)

I kinda figured the tree removal would strike a chord at some point. I'm assuming its just for a better visual of the ride from the trail.

It costs money to take trees out. I'm sure they're not removing anymore than they need too.

I get that Jason. And they're clearly doing it surgically. I just wonder what they're making room for way down near the end of the Trail.

Could be to run electrical, water, etc.

They're currently clearing out the turn from the flume into the lift. This turn practically comes right next to the railroad tracks.

Where, specifically?

I think he's wondering over by the north turn, by the path of Terror Island.

Awesome. Thanks Tony. :)

I do believe some lips clashed on this one...perhaps djs lips and tony's ass.

Just an observation.
