Tower of Terror
Soarin
Haunted Mansion
Splash Mountain
Mickey's Philharmagic
Spaceship Earth
Killimanjaro Safari
Spectromagic
Fantasmic
Illuminations
All Disney attractions that I would much rather be on then a large majority of the coasters out there, those rides/shows are simply some of the finest amusments ever made. And if we add in Universal the list grows even longer:
The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman
Dudley Do Right's Ripsaw Falls
Jurassic Park River Adventure
Men In Black: Alien Attack
Revenge of the Mummy (I know its a half coaster still, the dark ride portion is better then the coaster part.)
And finally Busch adds one more to that list (Curse of the Darkastle.) Give me any of those rides over 3/5 of the roller coasters Ive riden.
Not to mention that Tower of Terror is the best drop ride out there. I have yet to be on anything that's even close to as much fun as that ride (as far as drop rides are concerned).

ToT is by far my favorite non coaster ride anywhere. I wont go into the themeing because its been mentioned, but even without it that ride would still be at the top because I have never been on another drop ride that is capable of bouncing you up and down with such quickness, smoothness and longevity that ToT has. Then you have to add in the fact you do most of this in complete darkness.
Maybe Cedar Points declining hotel attendance has to do with the economy being so bad over not having enough family rides. Ever think of that? Cedar Point resorts are rather expensive and the way the economy is i would rather stay at a cheap hotel for a couple nights then stay at a resort.

Screw you guys. I'm going home.

I am not disappointed at all with the new ride. What I am disappointed in is that Soak City needs a total revamping. I have been to many waterparks throughout the country and I feel Soak City is so far behind. There has been so much more technology that water slides have become even more.
Now, this summer when we were in Soak City I overheard someone talking(yes I know rumor) but they were talking about CP buying land somewhere else in Sandusky to build a new waterpark and closeout Soak City attached to CP. Has anyone else heard this rumor?

The fact is most of us over the years became "spoiled"to the fact that Cedar Point was building record breaking coasters during the last few years. Some people in other areas of the country do not have access to a park like we have in this region and have to travel far and wide to some thrill parks.Cedar Point has 17 coasters for us to enjoy .Some parks have only 1 or 2.
Times change and the park has to find a way to keep profits rolling in.Unfortunatly some changes are not the way some people think its the way to go.Cedar Point counts on families to fill the hotel rooms, eat in the restaurants, buy souviners and spend money in the parks. From what I have read in the past season pass holders(and IM not claiming all here)bring their own food and eat in the car(avoid park food and prices),stay at out of park hotels(lost revenue for hotels) and usually do not buy the extra stuff.
The park cannot survive on season pass purchases and count on families to help them to profitability. They make decisions based on what the general public would like to see and do.They want the guests to have a pleasent experience and return(book hotel rooms, eat at restaurants etc).
The park has to cater to more than high school students and young adults who want the thrill experience.Dont get me wrong I would love to see another coaster built but I am not disappointed in their decision. It was based on surveys and opinions on what guests want.
Cedar Point will build another coaster or two in the next few years so dont panic. They are just taking a little detour and adding something for the families to enjoy together. After all that is why they call the family vacations.
I have thought it over for a day now, and my first impressions still stand. This isn't a ride that would make me want to get a season pass to ride it. Also, I am really not a water ride person, neither is my family. I already know my wife will not ride it, and two guys at my work said its a waste (not cedar point people). Me and my kids ride anything, Once.
I believe it will be busy, a lot of people like water rides, but I am afraid it is tucked in so deep into frontier trail, that no one will even see it.
I hope the entrance is big enough (without cutting down a lot of trees) that guest will know its there. (kinda like the - where's magnum's entrance issue)
It looks like a nice addition, but it don't give my family something to ride together (That is almost impossible to create) Everyone is different.
And as for Disney, I've been there many times, and they aren't family ride's either, the boat rides bore me to tears, and tower of terror my daughter and wife won't ride. Get it? :)
GATEKEEPER-I came, I rode, I was mildly disappointed; until a second ride (rear left) put GateKeeper back on the...it's a nice ride list.
I wouldn't mind cedar point putting up a new water park somewhere else and take out soak city. They can use the extra land soak city takes up to expand the park.

You assume that there is declining hotel attendance. I'll argue that we haven't seen price drops because the damn things are operating at 85%+ capacity and there is no need to drop the prices.
Take a look during Halloweekends. Lighthouse Point will be full and Breakers nearly so.

Ty Z...I have had some experience with the resorts and I'm telling you that their success/failure is largely derived from what the park does. And I'll tell you that as a Dad I have had countless conversations with other moms/dads while sitting in Camp Snoopy or Planet Snoopy and you will hear the same thing over, and over, and over again.
"This area is nice but I wish there was more here we could all do together."
I must have ridden the Cadillac Cars 5 times last trip...which wouldn't be SO bad if I also didn't ride the Turnpike Cars even more times. Besides the spin and pukes (which still don't appeal to a lot of 6, 7 and 8 year olds there are a limited number of rides that the family can enjoy together. The Big Wheel, train, sky ride, sky cabin, etc. That same family of four could go to Disney and ride family rides ALL DAY LONG, never repeat a ride, and most everyone will find enjoyment. Heck, I took my kids as infants on many of the Disney rides.
The park has tons of coasters and other thrill rides. You are either blind or tunnel visioned if you cannot see the obvious weakness they have with the family segment.

Jugga...you are right that during peak season the hotels are pretty full. But, the shoulder seasons are still an issue and as far as I know they are still keeping Sandcastle Suites closed after Labor Day.
Economy is part of the problem, for sure, but it isn't the only issue.

Cedar Point is not a family park. They don't want to be like Disney and have all family rides.
