I think it was really mislabled by CP.
Hey, if you dislike the ride, then its pretty clear CP is doing the right thing.

I think a family ride is one that should be fun for everyone, not something that parents are merely able to ride with their children if not necessarily willing. If they theme this properly it could go a long way towards filling that void. I don't think anyone's saying if you're not Disney you're crap, but Disney is kind of the industry standard when it comes to family rides so it's hard not to compare. Understood, Cedar Point is an amusement park, not a theme park, but that's not to say they can't appeal to a wider market through the use of themed rides. I for one prefer this approach to making a half-assed attempt a la SF, having characters wander around through a mix of thrill rides and kiddie rides, neither of which families can comfortably ride together and all enjoy. Might just be me, but a teenager sweating his butt off in a Bugs Bunny suit standing under a rollercoaster doesn't make it a family attraction.
And would like to know why everyone is defending WWL? From what i have read that it was 20 years old or so right? and the reason that CP tore it down is due to the fact that it cost to much to fix right?
Well I wonder how much it really cost to keep up all of the coasters that are 20+ years old? I don't think it cost more to up keep the coasters than it dose to up keep WWL,I will say this again that people really don't want a water ride, for the exception for a few that have shown great interest in it.But as food for thought-If you look beyond the curve it looks like thay combined TC and SRF and made a new ride i really think that is a lack of creativity.
And as for what we want CP should listen, cause we pay the admission, and spend our hard earned money there witch in turn,we give them our money so thay can pay the other people that work there.
If you don't keep the people happy there will be alot of people in the unemployment line cause no money will be comming in to make the pay roll.
I'm just being realistic.....

And im not gonna be the only one not happy
You're right - your junior high friends will be sad, too. But you'll still come to CP next year.
And no, you're not being realistic. You're being an immature brat who feels slighted over what presents he didn't get. Grow up.
CP did a survey of the GP, and this is what they wanted. Something tells me an actual survey of real people with real jobs is infinitely more valuable than what some whining kid thinks the rest of the planet wants.
Brandon
So you are gonna start in right just because i had made a statement,Honestly i think you are in Jr. High School
Your right eric, not everyone is happy. As from what i'm reading on here as long as other sites, there is a major backlash against this ride and Cedar Point. I will judge the right when it opens, but i doubt my opinion on it will change. Cedar Point is an Thrill Park. They have done enough to appeal to all age groups. They need to move on from families now and focus on being the best of the best of thrill parks. Everyone in the family has something to do at Cedar Point. There are plenty of rides for all age groups. I'm not feeling this ride, but we will see what happens after it opens.

No, Eric, you've made your opinion known, but have been claiming stuff about what the GP wants that has been roundly shown to be inaccurate. Now, you're simply whining.
And Ty, you're no different.
There is no backlash among anyone over the age of immaturity.
Brandon
And i agree with you again eric, dj acts like a junior high kid attacking everyone who doesn't like the ride, but o well what can you do. Let him feel important. Attacking people makes him feel like a bigger man. I'm done wasting my time replying to his comments.
my fav. rides:

One more thing dj, we can make our opinions known just like you. You have given your opinion more than anyone. And if you don't think there is a backlash, go the coasterbuzz.com and see what people are saying about it.

Coasterbuzz has the same as I would expect. The enthusiasses who think only coasters should be built are disappointed. The people with families are fairly excited, but still concerned over the soak factor and height requirements.
Its not some overwhelming majority of hatred, just a lot of anticipointment.

eric...Cedar Point officials have stated that their surveys indicate that folks wanted a family ride and a water ride. I remember the aftermath of the removal of WWL and a lot of people were bummed, particularly when the park was left without a flume ride (having had two at one point).
So, you are suggesting that the Point is spending $10 million dollars on something that nobody wants?
I'm here to tell you that the family segment (which spends more money in the park than teen coaster riders...without question) has been expressing their wants for some time. And, the decrease in room nights sold is probably pretty good evidence of that. Season passholders who might buy a meal or two in the park on each visit is NOT where the growth of Cedar Point (or Cedar Fair for that matter) is going to come from.
Believe it, don't believe it...whatever. But, you keep saying that people don't want this. I'm saying YOU don't want this and Cedar Point is not that concerned about what you want this year. Not happy? Go to the zoo.
"You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world...but it requires people to make the dreams a reality."

I too am a bit disappointed in what has been "hyped" more than a Microsoft product. But I do have to point out a few items that everyone else seems to overlook.
While there was a lot of resentment when WWL was removed for Maverick, there wasn't much fuss when people considered SRL being removed for this project. So I can see why some view it as a backfill for an attraction that did fit a profile of customers wanting this sort of ride. But with nothing extreme about this new addition - most of us will feel unsatisfied with the result. And with Soak City dedicated to people wanting a water encounter - it still seems out of place.
One has to think what the result of subtracting the dollars allocated to this product from the food prices would have done for attendance next year. I for one would have considered a season pass if the price for an on-ride photo, sandwich, or drink was less than what they charge at a professional sports event.
Lastly, I kind of feel duped by several "clues" that never made any sense...
The addition of a dog on the WhyteLighting web page, the mention of fires in the woods at night, and the "you won't get wet" - "oh, wait we can scale that effect" postings.
And in the long run, just like the Peanuts comic strip got dropped by my local newspaper - Mean Streak, Disaster Transport, and Prince Valient live on and on...
I thought you were done...
Look, I'm not attacking anyone. You all have made your opinions known, and people have shown why your reasoning is, to put it nicely, absurd. Yet, you're continuing to claim this will be the end of civilization as we know it and will cause the streets to run red with the blood of small children (whom I've punched in the face).
And yeah, I'm quite familiar with CBuzz, thanks, and the backlash you speak of there is just as wrong-headed.
Brandon
This ride will be a success, I think. I already know that a good number of you guys on here, even the ones who think the ride will not be very great, will end up liking the ride anyway, because most of you will end up standing in the areas where people can view the splash drop at the bottom of the hills and stare endless at people in their little boats....
Eric - don't let the door hit ya. When you graduate and have a family maybe you'll understand where people are coming from.
Goodbye MrScott
John
I thought the flume theory where the ride split in two and one went down backwards was a way better concept then this ride. But who knows maybe i'll change my mind about it after i ride it. I will ride it at least once so i can properly judge it.

Well, you feel duped because you were ignoring logic in favor of those half-assed clues. And I should add that I was annoyed by the red herring clues they were handing out ("Gee, See Eye!", etc.). Those seemed designed to... well, to mess with us, I guess.
And Tony never said you wouldn't get wet - that was 342nd-hand info that Screamscape picked up. Imagine that.
