Cedar Point Announces New Water Ride for 2010 Season

Well, okay then, if ya wanna play the semantic game, let's go. ;)

If you want to call those things 'effects' instead of theming, then fine. Except now you need a new, whole other word to describe theming and effects together. What's it gonna be? 'Ride experience'? 'Elements package'? Tell you what, why don't you call us back when you've come up with something...

Yawn....

You know, it really doesn't 'pop', does it?

Shoot the Rapids is drained. I wonder if it's closed for the season?

I was wondering that too. I can't remember if they drained it last week also.

I will say that it was pretty chilly riding it yesterday.

If CP has plans to make modifications to the ride, doing so while the weather is nice (and the park is closed) would be a good time to do that.

Well, they did say that they could control the amount of wetness.:)

Look's like that's exactly what they did.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Speaking of controlling the wetness, does the geyser just past the the waterfall area track the boat? At first I thought it was the wind blowing it. But after watching the spray seemingly follow our boat (and get us very wet) on two separate rides this past Sunday I don't think it was the wind. But on rides on a different day the geyser was spraying but it did not get us wet.

Looks like Shoot The Rapids is Done For The Year,All Drained.

Yep, because they couldn't easily refill it before Saturday.

That's preposterous, John. Next you're gonna tell me that they empty and refill Thunder Canyon on a daily basis! ;)

They also shut the lights off every night, and somehow, magically, they all* come back on the next day.

What manner of park are they that can summon up light without flint or tinder?

Brandon

Is Thunder Canyon an equal comparison? Since it just uses lake water the only expense would be the pump power. With STR using treated/chlorinated water I would think emptying it would be more costly, unless they store the water somewhere.

The point is that StR being drained does not necessarily mean the ride is closed for the season.

STR has reservoirs to store the water when the pumps are shut off, does it not?

Some people just look for any possible excuse to hate on the ride. ZOMG ITZ DRAINEDDE!11!!

djDaemon's avatar

The "sea-ment ponds" are the ride's reservoirs.

I see where people were suggesting the ride may be done for the season, I don't see where anyone was saying they hated it because it was drained.

ZOMG ITZ DRAINEDDE!11!!

I don't think that was said either.
