I would think we would know its a wooden coaster much earlier. It seems like wooden coasters would be extremely hard to build in the winter and would have to be completed by November/December.

this video seems to tell a different story...
Getting the footers done early is the biggest factor. Sure anything can be done. But, it's much easier if you get the concrete completed before freezing temps set in.

Steel is easier to handle in a large construction project. Wood does not handle well in the winter, not to mention the winds off of Lake Erie during the winter.
If it's a winged rider, and seeing how Mr.O is in charge, things have gone smoother at the Point. and Celebration Plaza is moving along fast, considering when it was announced.
DK thought it was a dog of a ride. Put lipstick on a pig and its still a pig. Since 5 year planning is typical at CP, it would only make sense that he was planning the final demise and destruction of the pig. Whatever is being manufactured for that area was most likely past the planning stages when Kinzel announced his retirement. Of course this information all goes back to the Dippin Dots girl. She said the Lemon Chill guy was clueless.

How far in advance do you think kinzel knew he was going to retire? Or did one day he just decide that his time was up.

I agree - especially if people think it's going over by DT. There's no way they would put those two next to each other. If it turns out it's going to CP, then I'd guess it was going in the back of the park.
Kinda like Dragster and Iron Dragon?
Colors do not matter.

Well, the started a maverick bridge cam. I honestly feel like I could see something going back there. I know I'm almost 90% wrong, and maybe it was for Dino alive, but I doubt it as you can't even see it. Idk. But I'd absolutely love a new woodie. I love mean streak, so a gravity group, gci, or an intamin prefab would be fine by me. :)

I thought Monty said something along that line as well. I guess it's either the powers at CP really don't want a wooden coaster, or they're all trolling us. :)

Most likely a combination of 2 factors. Dick has grandkids and wanted to enjoy retirement at a healthy age (planned) without spending every waking moment micromanaging this company. Second factor was more than likely pressure from influential shareholders. So, to answer the question with utmost uncertain speculation, he knew well in advance, and figured his time was up.

Well after thinking about it, shoot the rapids was pushed back a year. Wouldn't that make everything else become pushed back as well? Lets say that Mr K had planned to retire when he did. I would think that mr K would have wanted to leave with a big bang... Like a roller coaster. But if shoot the rapids cause everything to be pushed back, that would have caused me k's leaving with a bang to be pushed back as well.
Idk. Just a thought I had.
Hmm I never thought of it that way before...it makes perfect sense.

I have always thought there was supposed to be a coaster in 2012 but for some reason got pushed back to 2013.
Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!
And it still makes me wonder what exactly he meant by "the surprise" he mentioned at last years CoasterMania that would be released to us this year.
All of these things are pointing in one direction, a new coaster, unless all of us are trying to make something out of nothing. Really though, If there isn't a new roller coaster next year, I'll be very surprised.

Just because one project gets pushed back does not mean a domino effect will happen. I think some of you are looking to hard into it. The only way projects would get pushed back is if one was to be built in the year of another that was already planned, unless of course they were fine with two rides being built in the same year. If nothing was originally planned for 2010, StR simply became that years new ride in a season that was going to have nothing. Outside of large projects, I really don't think everything is planned much farther than 2 years out. Do you really think Wicked Twister was planned 3 to 5 years in advance?
^ you bring up a very good point. We very well could be making something out of nothing. I'm hoping that we are on to something, but you never know.
