Cedar Point 2013

So for colors, we are looking at a white spine, gray running rails, and orange supports!

At least then it wouldn't look so bad when the seagulls poop all over it, like they do Raptor.

Well at least we are keeping the green coasters at the front of the park- we wouldn't want the red/yellow coasters to get worried.

The new ride will be called the Angry Seagull and it will poop on guests as they pass through the front entrance.

This might be the best post I've read yet!

I would love to see these colors, they look really nice on B&M track. It's unique.

I was thinking about the same colors as well, maybe having the white and turquoise switch spots though, and maybe a light blue instead of turquoise. The gray supports look nice though.

Those are the colors I'd love to see on Avalanche Run v2!

I am happy to see a new coaster and think a better view of the beach will be great. I'll definitely be riding it.

With that said, after this, they seriously need to work on family rides. I know they haven't been the most popular rides, but we've lost White Water Landing, Paddlewheel Excursions, Wildcat, Space Spiral, and Disaster Transport. Unless you want to argue Shoot the Rapids is a family ride (it's not for us as it looks to wet), that's a lot gone and nothing added (and family rides were already the weakest area).

Edit: This is becoming a big issue with coaster specifically too. Wildcat and Disaster Transport were rides a lot of kids got started with. This pretty much leaves the mine ride and Iron Dragon.

Wrong. It has been pointed out elsewhere that ride is going somewhere else.

I am fascinated by this new language Mr. Ouimet has invented. "We are going to focus on families" means that one of the only rides in the park that family can experience together is removed post haste, and that the only roller coasters that a family can enjoy see a swift death as well.

I said this way back when Ouimet was hired; that we should wait and see the results before fawning all over him. Say what you want about Uncle Dick, but he would always see to it that Cedar Point was the flagship of the chain, and that the new guy might not have that same dedication to one park or the other.

Of course, nobody listened because everybody was distracted by the bright lights and shiny things that were being affixed to every surface. So this is what we have in the span of 24 months: Extra $$ for dino robots, extra $$ or your wait time for the big coasters is increased, two coasters removed, two family attractions removed, increased ticket prices, and a new coaster in the parking lot. Brilliant.

But hey, new lights on the Giant Wheel & 'never frozen' burgers balances that out right?

Apparently, less than one year in, you've waited long enough.

I am so excited about this news!!!!! Finally, removing these ugly, boring, dated rides and replacing with a coaster with an incredible concept. I can't wait to ride Wild Eagle at Dollywood this year, and hopefully we'll have a wing coaster even better at CP next year. The proposed area is a very large landscape. Man, it's still May and I'm pumped for next year.

I think they should recycle S.O.B.

Son of Beach

How about this:
close DT within the next few weeks. Remove the warehouse over the next month. Then have club members ride the existing "warehouse-less" ride as a tribute to its final resting place. It would mean a lot to us followers to be able to experience coastermania ride night with an ert on dt as it was when it was Avalanche Run, the open air beach ride it was meant to be. Please understand why we would appreciate this.:). It would be a wonderful last salute. The warehouse ruined it. With it removed, I would feel a sense of an end to an era and welcome the new much easier and of course welcome the destruction of Avalanche Run

[url][url]I agree with all your valid points We-o-we-oooo, but let's not forget CP hasn't made an official announcement for 2013. Could there be more than just the B&M? (possibly) I too was shocked CP has now lost 2 coasters and suspect there is more to come. (hope so anyway) :D

Walt I didn't put that quite right; I wanted to demonstrate the recent changes in aggregate, as well as point out that the company line is, like it always was, in conflict with the company's actions. I don't believe that the park has improved in any way outside of visually; steps forward are simply retracing steps backward.

I think it was said that Cedar Fair will stay in Sandusky and Cedar Point will stay the flagship park. I couldn't see any other park being the flagship.

Knotts - Doesn't have enough big coasters or attractions.
Canada's Wonderland - I doubt they would have their flagship park in Canada.
Kings Island - Right around the corner from Cedar Point, there would be no strategy there.

Why exactly does the chain need a flagship anyway?

My author website: mgrantroberts.com.

Even though nothing is official yet, I would like to see Disaster Transport moved to another Cedar Fair park. Just like what happened with Demon Drop, another Cedar Fair park might welcome Disaster Transport(Avalanche Run). Just a thought.

That would be cool since it is one of a handful bobsled coasters left.. but I'll doubt it'll ever happen.

Pretty exciting news i'm glad i decided to wait to go till next year. On other news my home park Worlds of Fun has seen Mr. Ouimet two times in the last month and a half. Kind of interesting if you ask me I wouldn't mind getting DT here at home it would be sweet to have a little piece of the point closer to home.
