^Source? I highly doubt it.
And Connor, I know you're new to the forums so I'll cut you some slack, but we've said multiple times now that Thunder Canyon is and will remain empty until at least next weekend. How else would I have been able to see markings on the canyon floor? :)
^ yes but u never know because im not a CP regular and cedar point just opened ocean motion without an announcement so i didnt know

I believe there may be the teeniest of chances that CP Obsessed was making a joke...

Possibly, but he forgot his smiley :)
And he didn't have "the one with the assumed smiley" in his signature. ;)
I think it is safe to say that there is definitely something serious going on over on the frontier trail. Roller coaster? I'd say there is definately a chance.
It would be nice to see a woodie. It is Frontier town after all. The only downside to a woodie is that after a few years its going to become another Mean Streak...maybe...
If it were to be a steel coaster, what do you think it would be? I remember a while back when Tony and Tyler were still on the blog. They said something about not taking out the "BEAMER" does that mean B&M? If so, I think we could rule out a B&M coaster.
^ I believe Dinn and his group are long gone. Thus said, I don't thinka modern woodie would be turned into "another Mean Streak." Look atProwler. It is a good woodie and will be for years. GCI and GravityGroup and for God's sake even Intamin have figured out how to makenice, smooth, reliable woodies.
Let's Get Weird.
^ I never thought about that...
In my opinion, I think that a woodie would be the best addition if the new ride was to be a roller coaster. That is something that CP is missing, A GOOD wooden coaster.
Anyone else agree with me?
Are you saying Blue Streak isn't a Good coaster? Oh wait, your right. It's a great coaster. :)

Im not sure if they would actually remove Thunder Canyon after what they said about "having the power of three" water rides, but with cedar point who knows.
Anyways I'm not really sure what kind of rollercoaster they would add. With Maverick being right there I feel like there's too much In that area. If cedar point were to get a new coaster, I really think it's gonna be a woodie. Im hoping for a nice GCI like Prowler, but with the area where the markings are being so large I think we could be looking at something bigger. I'll be at the park this weekend for the first time to check out the markings for myself.

I'm hoping they leave the Frontier Trail along with Thunder Canyon alone. It's the only area of the park that still has it's natural trees from the past. Plus, Thunder Canyon still brings in a lot of people on the hot summer days. Also they use Thunder Canyon for the Hallo weekends. I would rather see them put this new ride in the rumored turnpike area. That makes more sense to me.
There doesn't seem to be a lot of room for a massive coaster back there. After MF, you have Frontier Trail, which is very nice and relaxing, Thunder Canyon is a nice chunk and a ride that should be left untouched, and Maverick is right after it which pulls everyone in. Can't do much across from Thunder Canyon and Petting Farm because of Shoot the Rapids.
Could it be the end of the Petting Zoo and the Musuem? I always kind of wondered why they had a Petting Zoo... it's almost pointless, given that they are the only animals at the park and it's not a draw except to kids. It's not like the jungle animals CP had years ago. Hmm.

I agree...the turnpike car area really seems like it could use a new major attraction. Ive heard alot about the "new Blue Streak" but even that isn't bringing in the people to that area. If we are talkin about a rollercoaster, it wouldn't really make much sense too add a woodie right next to a woodie. That makes me wonder...if it was a rollercoaster, what would it be? I don't think they wold add a B&M right next to Raptor. And then theres intamin...ugh

Nothing wrong with adding a B&M next to one, it's not like it'd be another Raptor. :)

Thank you. I was waiting for someone to say this. Please don't bastardize that beautiful area of the park just to build a new roller coaster. It was so sad when they built Maverick and you could see to Perimeter Road from the bridge that connects Frontier Trail to the back of the park (though I think the trees are starting to grow in now).
I know it's a rumor, but I like the idea of some sort of ride going in at the front of the park, in the Calypso area. It seems like it would be a good balance for the park.
Or, they could always convert Mantis into a floorless for 2012 and re-market it ;-)

You're right. Families with kids are the most pointless, pointless aspect of Cedar Point. Stupid kids and their parents! Build more coasterzzzz!
Promoter of fog.
Cedar Point isn't marketing the musuem or the petting zoo, it's just there. There's no dollars coming in from it being there. I'm not saying the next record breaking coaster could easily go there, it could be a family ride just as well, but it is a good area to do something in. There are plenty of options for families at the Point.
