Why can't we just mount cages behind every seat of the 500ft quad-looping inverted wooden coaster so we can watch the animals while we ride. There, problem solved!! That way we can still have the memories from the petting zoo and if the kids nowadays never saw it, can they really miss it?. Btw they can grow the baby cown to make better burgers than the crap they sel now!!!
Weird thing is, i have never seen the petting zoo. Yet I've been to Cedar Point so many times. Where is it exactly? And they can just move it. I mean, how big is it? It's not like suPer judge when it can't fit anywhere else.
It's pretty much directly across from Shoot the Rapids. If you've been through CornStalkers you exit from the museum part of the petting zoo.

And how I've never noticed that. Wow. I mean I'm not that smartest person. And I don't ever really pay attention, so that's prob. why.
If it were to be moved it could easily fit inside of mean streak. The park should put something there...
Take out all of those winding queuea lines and there could be enough room for a petting zoo and probably 2 medium sized flat rides.
^Negative. Those lines fill up very quickly when the entire park is busy, especially come Halloweekends. They're definitely needed.

Are you serious??? I have gone on that ride every single time I go to Cedar Point and it has never ever been past that long straight part. that is covered with a roof
Try going on Columbus Day weekend. They get used.

Sorry I missed all this discussion today, but I was at the park today. With my 9 year old daughter. Looking mournfully at the (temporarily) closed petting farm and trying to get a stray affectionate stroke on passing chickens. And in between all the coasters and thrill rides we love so much, feeding the fish from the pond crossing by Mine Ride. And scattering food to the goslings. And throwing french fries to the sparrows and blackbirds. It all really added to a very special day for the two of us today.
So anyway, what were you guys talking about?

Do you mean Memorial day..?
I don't think Columbus day makes a difference.
If you meant memorial day, I am going this Saturday so I guess I'll see how the lines are.
Does anyone know how crowded it can get? It's supposedly going to be going to be about 70 degrees and a 10% chance of rain.
No, I meant Columbus Day. Good weather during Halloweekends are becoming the busiest weekends of the year.

I've noticed. I went on a Saturday last year and let me tell you that I will never ever do that again. There was a 3.5 hour wait for MF and 4.5 for TTD.
I went on a Friday night the next weekend when the park is open 6-midnight and I got on both MF and TTD in about no longer than a 1/2 hour. It was great.
Don't get rid of the petting zoo; I buy my platinum pass every year just for that. I even borrowed one of single rider Bob's neon shirts and changed the verbiage to 'single petter', but got too many weird looks and Michael Jackson comments.
If you remove family attractions, families stop going. I can remember when I was a wee one not only would the grandparents go along but elderly relatives as well. Why were they paying a tank of gas worth of coin to ride nothing save for the train? To watch the little ones have fun, as others have said. Take that away in favor of an exclusive thrill lineup and it won't be long before your clientele is exclusively teens, who not only spend zero money but are obnoxious.
Anybody here who is old enough to remember Boblo Island knows that ignoring the little things that families like is a direct path to closure.
Girl: "l want to ride that yellow one again... Twisted Wicker"
Me: "It's a roller coaster, not a broken clothes hamper."

I miss the blacksmith and glass blowing shows and wish those would return and I certainly want the pet farm to stay.
I can't speak for the Blacksmith shop because it's been at least two years since I've seen that open, but the glassblower demonstrations definitely were there last summer. As far as I know they'll be back again this year, but probably haven't started yet this early in the season.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the barn that sits on that site one of the Ohio Bicentennial barns? Wouldn't that make it a historical landmark, making it illegal to tear down?
That's been painted over for at least two seasons now. Still, I very much doubt Pet Farm is going anywhere.
Been a long time since I have seen so many men expressing their love of goats and talking about stroking chickens;)
The blacksmith was open last year when i was there, not everyday though. Kind of a crap shoot when that one is open.
Keep the petting farm/barn, if a "new ride" does come to this area and its a coaster, just have it blow through the barn, that'll stir the animals up! ;)

The key to a park as large Cedar Point maintaining viability is balance.
Well then you're not ready to be a parent because that's all it is.
Um, no. In case you missed it, this was a comment to DJ explaining how Kiddy Kingdom is not a family area, which it is not; it is a kiddie area.
I can tell you that our daughter, and every child I have visited the park with different parents without fail, would prefer to ride something with mommy, daddy, or both vs. alone. And guess what? Mommy and daddy would also prefer that; hence, why so many of us miss attractions like the Pirate Ride dearly, and why something like the Petting Farm, while seemingly meaningless to some of you, is not going anywhere.
I guess it is worth repeating. Cedar Point has a wonderful collection of kiddie rides. Cedar Point has a wonderful collection of thrill rides and coasters. Cedar Point has a lack of rides that the whole family (meaning members of the family from 3-90) can all enjoy together as a unit.
Adding (and on the same taken not removing) attractions of this nature would do wonders towards making Cedar Point a more balanced park, which I actually think they are moving towards, albeit at a snail's pace.
