You should go take a look at pictures from when White Water Landing opened. The area was no less barren than Maverick or StRs areas are now.

Which is all the more reason to space out installations in that area of the park, in my opinion.

If the petting zoo is so important, can someone explain to me why it does not appear on cedarpoint.com and is not labeled on the official park map?

Seems not so important if they don't care to advertise its existence.

In that case, they must not care about the Glass Blowing Theater.

Not everything needs to be advertised on a giant banner in order to be a nice aspect of the park.

Brandon

The map I can understand, but it should at least be on the website.

I think they should have info about the Glass Blowing Theater as well. I'm not sure why they don't market the Frontier Trail somewhere as having those kind of shops and attractions. Probably just the changing times, because many years ago, those kinds of things were more attractive.

I call out the petting zoo because it is not located near any other children's attractions. That and the fact that there is a webpage titled "Fun for Young Families" that makes no mention of it.

The Pet Farm is probably not listed on the site because there really isn't a category for it to be listed under. It used to be listed as an "attraction" alongside Oceana and Jungle Larry's in the Showtime guides.

Now that the park has so few things that could be called attractions (in terms of things that aren't rides or games) they don't seem to have the need to list them as part of their offerings. One could almost look at that as an indication of how the balance has shifted over the past fifteen years.

I think it's just simple neglect at truly investing time and energy into emphasizing the family-oriented attractions and atmosphere. Comes from the top-down.

Way too soon to tell anything at all.

Promoter of fog.

It is to soon to tell. If there was going to be a BIG thing next year, we would most likely see some clues near mid June - early July. We probably wouldn't get an announcement until August like in previous years.

If they were going to just fix up the park, a lot of it could be completed during the off-season.

BTW... Did CP get new trash cans this year? It seems like they are 'prettier' I think the ones last year were those square ones...?

I believe they did. I noticed that too.

Yeah, I was looking at the webcam the other day and I noticed them.

It also seems like there are more trash cans too.

There are so many now, it seems, that it occurred to me it was exactly like RCT. It was as if a giant prepubescent boy went crazy and dropped two of them on every single square.

I was thinking the same thing!! Just go and look at the pagoda cam on the CP website. there are tons of them!

I like the petting zoo a lot and have memories of it just like everyone else, but it really does nothing for the park. It's not a winner for Cedar Point and its not a loser either. If it disappears, no one is going to miss it to the point they will stop coming to the park.

This kind of short-sighted lack of vision is precisely the reason that so many people around here with kids feel like there isn't enough to do as a family. My kid was only six months when we visited last year, but there was nothing for us to really do together (even though at his age he wouldn't remember... it was more for us). Had the pet farm been open that time of year, we could have at least done that. In another two years, he'll be able to ride a great many rides, but many of them aren't rides we can ride together (especially the non-Zamperla rides).

So would people stop coming if they eliminated the pet farm? Yeah, actually I think they would stop.

You're suggesting people pay $44.95 to visit the petting zoo and nothing else, when you can visit a petting zoo within 50 miles of any spot in the mid-west. I don't think "short sighted" begins to explain that ridiculous notion.

Using that logic, Jeff, people should have stopped going when Jungle Larry was taken out and we know they didn't, at least not in enough numbers to make Cedar Point look at adding a new animal attraction.

It's no secret that Cedar Point does not have a lot to do for the whole family, but anyone suggest the petting zoo is the key stone of the family attractions available is not looking at the big picture. There is a Safari up route 2 with a much bigger petting zoo that costs less for the whole family to visit twice than it does for a one day visit at Cedar Point.

This brings up an old question: Other than a Dark Ride, what could CP add that the whole family could do together? Those types of rides are fairly few and CP has most of those that do exist. (I would argue a more family friendly log flume than STR or Sir Rub-A-Dub's Tubs, but that's just me)

There just isn't that much that appeals to 2 year olds, pre-teens, teens AND adults.
