Cedar Point 2012

Was that last year or this year?

I agree. I don't want to sound like a jerk (because I love CP) but they've already had their chance. They haven't built anything MAJOR since Maverick ( or MAYBE Planet Snoopy.) I totally agree with rehabbing the park, but they've had too many chances already.

But on the contrary, I am very pleased with the new paint coatings, fountains, Pink's, Starlight Experience, etc. but I'm hoping next year CP doesn't do NOTHING BUT revamping.

I agree. I think they should spend time revamping and upgrading. Get some LED bulbs going on Giant Wheel (with a system kind of like Windseeker's lights would be nice). Millennium Force's lights MUST be fixed - it's lift hill lights were the absolute best in it's first year. Also, please upgrade Power Tower's lights to make it look like it did back in the day - changing from color to color. I think they'd be surprised with how little changes like that could go a LONG way.

I don't think a coaster will be coming until 2013. I'd expect removal of turnpike cars, moving of calypso, and possibly altering the route of cadillac cars for a nice b&m wingrider, or maybe even a dive machine in 2013.

Next year I expect a new restaurant or gift shop, a small soak city expansion, and maybe something small for the kids.

I also heard a rumor (I am aware this was briefly mentioned earlier) that the paddlewheel will be gone next year, and the same dinosaurs alive attraction at kings island will be installed on millennium island. It will use the same haunt pathway used during halloweekends. Hopefully, this does not happen, but I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Well to be honest, i wouldn't mind a shuttle/boomerang coaster, just something smaller and cheaper than what most of you are thinking of. I know that's probably not what enthusiasts want, but i think it would be a nice addition to the park, and it wouldn't take up much space. I looked at some spots that it could fit, and I think the space highlighted in this picture would possibly fit it, if they moved around a few things. http://i822.photobucket.com/albums/zz149/drgstr420/CPMap2011.png

I think Boomerangs are good for average parks (from riding so many), but idk about CP; although if one was built I would ride it. And I've actually been looking at that spot between Gemini and MS myself ;) I've always thought about them moving the storage building to clear up space.

As far as a new coaster possibility, I'm not sitting too hard on a yes or no answer. I was looking at this "Point Cast (with T&T)" interview with Rob Deckar last year and he says "we have about 4 or 5 GOOD things in the hopper, and CP is great for thrills"- then he mentions the balance between 'thrill and family.' and "fun stuff is on the horizon."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLElj0bnkss&feature=player_embedded#at=150

In other interviews (not just from Rob) they say that big attractions (like coasters) take 3 or 4 years to plan for. He says "four or five" good things are on the horizon, but I think he was referring to Windseeker as one of them ;)

I wouldn't look too much into the specific "four or five good things" part, but he didn't just pull those numbers from the sky. This also makes me wonder about keeping the 'family/thrill' ratio balanced, like he mentioned.

Also, on a side note, I can remember buzz on TTD and the park saying that they hid the construction from people-- do you think that could still get away with that today?

No one has seen anything??

I love a good shuttle/boomerang, but do you really think they could market that? I mean, what do you say to make that sound like an awesome new addition to the park? Plus they don't have a good capacity.

I know that enthusiasts tend to only be satisfied with coasters, but I really hope that whatever they do next year is a big success and has a significant impact. I can't say with any confidence that anything since Maverick has done that.

A HUGE screamin squirrel on Millenium island would be AWESOME, CHEAP, and FUN!

Hey I was on the Paddlewheel Ride one month ago and I saw some pirate stuff stashed back in the wooded area. I thought maybe they were building some sort of pirate attraction-- or perhaps they were thinking of re-visualizing the Paddlewheel Ride. Do they use pirate stuff for the Halloweekends?

It was probably for Halloweekends. If I remember correctly, Terror Island has a pirate theme.

So rumor has it we're getting a dueling 3 point challenge...Two three point challenges together to play against your friends to add to the four in the park already ^_^

Lol....Thought of that one earlier today :D

^ As long as it is 500 feet tall and inverts you 20 times then I think this is the one to put your money on folks! :)

Your post makes no sense towards my sarcastic post...or I just don't get it lol

I would actually like to see an intamin zacspin at cedar point. Yeah it doesn't have the greatest capacity, but ought to be a fun ride. And there is only green lantern at six flags, so.

Maybe it isn't time for a new roller coaster (although I do want one) but CP definitely does need a new thrill ride. CP seems to have attempted that with the addition of windseeker, but I don't think it can compare to the thrill you get when you ride Skyhawk or Max Air.

What other types of thrill rides are out there?

I was always surprised that cedarpoint never had a top spin.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

^ I get sick on those :(

And I have to disagree with the person who said that they would want a ZacSpin. Yes it does look like a fun ride, but I don't think that it would be a good addition at the point.

Is it possible to rule out the addition of a roller coaster for next year yet?

I think that that would be a fun addition to the park. I think the one at Dorney Park looks very eye apealing. The only problem I have with the ride is the amount of downtime it has. It seems like any new ride from HUSS has something wrong. Like maXair, Timber Tower at Dollywood, and the Top Spin at WoF all have either had a late start to the season or are not even running at all.
