Cedar Point 2012

If Cedar Point is going to add a coaster, it should be an intermediate that kids between Jr. Gemini/Woodstock Express and Iron Dragon Height can ride. I fail to understand how disney can build good thrill rides for the 40" crowd but Cedar Point can't. But.. I think combining a dark ride with the history of Cedar Point would be incredible. It would take you through the progression from the late 1800's to today...I think that would really be a boost to the park...with today's technology I think that could be really well done.

It most likely lowers their insurance costs by requiring higher height requirements. This is also the same reason why they add seatbelts and sometimes auto-spiels to rides. I find it weird that Calypso is the only ride with an auto-spiel. Does anyone know why that ride is the only one?

Is it possible to rule out the addition of a roller coaster for next year yet?

I think that happened a couple dozen pages ago, at least in regards to a huge mega thrill coaster everyone here seems to be begging for. I suppose they still have plenty of time left if they were to install a junior/kiddy coaster though.

I can't explain exactly why Calypso has one and other flat rides don't. About 7-8 years ago CP starting putting auto-spiels on everything. There was some pretty big public backlash against it (particularly Magnum). I'm not sure that is the reason most were eliminated, but it was probably a contributing factor.

Yep. Just click on anybody's user name on one of their posts.

I for one would hate an intamin zacspin.....First off we have too much intamin in the park IMO. Now yes there are pretty much about the same for arrows but their rides vary, wheras Intamin's feel somewhat the same to me in feeling. Plus capacity wise I don't think that would be a good move for the park. It doesn't seem to have a high capacity such as Maverick/TTD/ect..Lastly...Just from my standpoint, it just doesn't look like a fun maybe 40 second ride...

Unless they develop a higher capacity model, I agree that a ZacSpin would be a terrible fit at a park like CP. The advertised (AKA higher than actual) capacity of those rides is 800 pph. That's probably not going to cut it.

Disney does not build good thrill rides, they build mediocre rides with top-notch, unbelievable attention to detail in the theming department.

Cedar Point does the exact opposite.

In other words, Disney can spend a LOT more money on family rides than CF can (or at least more than CF thinks they can).

The only thing that really doesn't add up with me is Calypso got a brand new auto-spiel this year. I am now thinking since Calypso is run by one person, it may be easier to have a prerecorded voice talking, while a ride host is checking lapbars.

I vaguely remember Magnums spiel, but I definitively remember Iron Dragon's. It was way to long and was over a minute of non stop information about negative g-forces. I actually like prerecorded autospiels; they provide consistent information for someone who isn't familiar with ride policies. I know on a few rides at the park they don't stick to a consistent live spiel. The only ride I can think of which is always consistent is Iron Dragon.

There is also one that goes off while you stand in line for Raptor and Millenium. Its only goes off about one time about every 30-40 minutes though.. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Then there was the auto-spiel on Wildcat that told you at the end of the ride to exit quickly but carefully to your right.

I wonder if I have a recording of that somewhere...

For anyone wondering why Dave thinks that is interesting it is because you exit to the left on Wildcat. If you walked to the right you would be walking into the middle of the ride.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about. It's the first thing in the playlist, so when they start up the sound system, it immediately plays. But I've never actually heard it while waiting in line. I've never heard one at Millie, either.

2011 - Trash Crew

I heard one for the first time while in line for millenium on the 4th of July. I've never heard it before that though.

Both Mantis and Magnum also have the "ride introduction/safety procedures".

I've never heard the ones fir either of those.

Whydoesnt maverick have queue music this year? Does anyone know?

I'm just glad they got rid of the lift hill autospiels!

"You are ascending to a hei......................main seated at all times, keep..................d enjoy your ride on............"

Unless, of course you are in the nearby parking lot. Then you could hear the whole thing.

When did they have them on the lift hill?
