Maybe they need to set up a lone turnstile in the midway, with a sign that reads "Family Dark Ride."
The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.

That only tells you how much people ride what they have, not what they would like to see. What I ride at Cedar Point has nothing to do with what I would like to see them add. How does that make any sense?
Ok, lets compare KI with CP. KI has a Vekoma flying dutchman called Firehawk. CP does not. I don't have the exact numbers in front of me, but Firehawk's ridership has not fallen since the day it opened at KI in 2007. They also wouldn't have taken it from Geauga Lake if riders didn't love it. CF looks at those numbers and they make a decision to buy a flying dutchman like coaster for CP.
If we look at KD and CP, CP bought MF from Intamin, and ten years later, I-305 goes up at KD. They wouldn't have agreed to put up another Giga if riders hated MF.
Just because you want to see something in particular, doesn't mean that it will do well in the park. They have the data on that works in the park and what doesn't.
Actually, CP (and CF) do survey people about what they want. That is what led them to STR, not a 555 ft spinning 4D Aquacoaster.
Of course, they survey real people, not posters on coaster sites :)

Well, being a real person who was at the park more than 20 times each season, where/when exactly was that done? Just curious, as I would have loved to participate.
Unless it happened in 2006 or 2007, it probably had nothing to do with STR, since the ride was most likely planned for quite sometime.
I've personally never encountered a survey of any kind in all my years at the Point (at least not one asking about what kind of attraction I would like to see).

^I also go to the park about 15+ times a year and I have never seen ir heard anything about serveys.
I don't want to break up the discussion here, but I will anyway. I had this really cool dream that Cedar Point was building their newest wooden roller coaster across the midway from Gemini. This meant that the games were leveled and camp snoopy was relocated just 10 yards. I know I should post this in the "Dreams of Cedar Point" thread, but since this is for 2012, I feel like it fits!

How often do you use the Front Gate? Since most season pass holders/enthusiasts use the Resort Gate, they probably miss the surveyors. I routinely see surveys being taken at or near the Front Gate area. I have also seen them done around the Sky Ride station near Coasters as well as on the Frontier Trail. It is not something easy to notice unless you know what you are looking for. There isn't a giant sign that states "Surveys done here", but rather an employee with a clipboard. There is a good chance you have walked by them being done but just didn't notice it happening.
Unfortunately, the surveys do not ask guests what they would like to see at the park, but ask more vague guest satisfaction, demographic, and marketing-related advertising questions. They are definitely out there though, just not all day long.
The survey asks the following questions:
-What is your zipcode?
-Have you been to CP before?
-Have you seen any commercials? (*I think this is one)
-What is your gender?
-What is your age?
They survey people all of the time, just not on the Internets. You'd be surprised at how much guest research they do.

We always use the front gate (in fact, I've never not used it).
I've definitely seen the demographic surveys, just never one specific to future attractions, like the brief survey Holiday World is currently conducting.
I just thought that was a nice touch on the part of HW that, at the very least, communicates to the guests, "Hey, we care what you think...can you help us?"

But can anyone here say for sure that the park does not ask questions like that? The answer of course is no because no one here knows for sure what kind of surveys are being done and when. Just because someone may have taken a survey that asked general questions about demographics does not mean that they do not have other surveys they use. Bottom line, Cedar Point may very well be asking its guests what kind of ride they want to see next at the park.
The park made a point to say that it was guest feedback that made them decide to put in a new water attraction (Shoot the Rapids)

^^^That is very true.
sorry to get off topic but what does it means when someone +1 a post? Sorry. I'm still new here.
I know people on here in the past have reported being surveyed about what kinds of new attractions they'd be interested in. I'm sure the general marketing/zip code type survey is the most common though.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
^^Thank you
I'm going up to CP tomorrow so I'll go over around FT and the turnpike card and see if I notice anything different.
Why don't I believe you...
And I'm very glad to hear about the surveys about future attractions. I hope they really do that; I guess I am a little surprised that in all my days at CP I have never come across one. I actually always stop and take their surveys just to help out.
Now about those supports.
