Steel Hawg looks really fun, but is the capacity as bad as it looks?
Between the tiny capacity and a lackluster crew, Steel Hawg by far has the most out of whack "people in line vs. time spent in line" ratio of any ride I've ever waited for. It was a lot of fun, but not something I'd consider remotely close to a "family attraction."

and heres it at rcdb: http://www.rcdb.com/9309.htm.
I would love a new coaster at CP, but honestly I could wait a few years for one. I would prefer CP put in a great new dark ride, something that everyone could enjoy. One with *gasp* THEMING!!!
It would be fine with me if CP decided to take a year to do nothing but enhance the overall experience of visiting, like scenery/theming. Things like adding pavers, painting rides, planting trees, building walls, fixing & adding lights, fog, sound effects... anything to help you feel like you are in an endless surreal world, not on a peninsula in Lake Erie. Disney does this EXTREMELY well and I don't expect CP to come even remotely close to that level of theming, but it would be nice to have more.
I went last year for the first time in a few years and I was less than thrilled with the lack of the "extra" things that I remembered from visits in years past. I still had fun, but I was certainly disappointed whenever I noticed something missing (ahem... lights/sound on DT). Plus I realize that my brain can't handle spinning rides much anymore and I can't marathon ride the coasters without getting a headache. I feel ancient and I'm only 25!!
As much as I would love to have CP keep up with Disney in the "visiting experience" department, I think the current annual "revamping" pattern may, sadly, not improve, but I hope I'm wrong. On the bright side, they do a decent job with paint jobs lately (MF-2011, SRF-2010, maXair-2009 etc) and redoing other parts of the park (STR, Windseeker, OM, PS, Starlight, SSuites about 15 new food stands-2010, Pink's etc..) They seem to put their main focus on the new attraction, and all of the remaining effort into things like this, IMO of corse.
And I should just take this time to say that I love that new lighting arrangement on Windseeker. :)
My opinion: Cedar Point's next coaster HAS to be a high capacity compact woodie. 15 steel: 2 wood. Not a good ratio.
As much as I would like a new wooden coaster, it's probably not going to happen anytime soon. I was listening to an interview with the Director of Maintenance and New Construction at CP and he said that Cedar Point wasn't interested in a wooden coaster anytime soon :( which is odd because I know how secretive CP is on this subject.

It's a 30 minute interview about CP in general but he mentions something like 'once you start a wooden coaster, you never stop building it' and that CP wasn't interested in a new wooden coaster anytime soon.
That's why you build it with steel structure. Like The Voyage. Maintenance drops way down then.

What is a wing rider? Also.. Has anyone else heard anything about the frontier trail markings and the rumored turnpike cars area?
^ theres a thing called google!!! and anyway its like a floorless coaster and the seats are extended outward that look like wings and thats why its called a wingrider
playstation gamer tag. connorwatmont. add me
I'd like to see CP conduct a survey like Holiday World, and actually find out what their customers want.
Promoter of fog.
I would like to see another something like maverick. Its not a tall coaster but it has a lot of cool elements. I think cedarbpoint should get something like the firehawk down at kings island.

They do conduct surveys. They keep track of how many people get onto every ride in every one of their parks. I know that only counts things that CF parks already have, but it gives them a great idea of what the general park going public wants, not just what enthusiasts want.
