Well for one, CP doesn't even directly design the coasters. They give ideas to designers and then they design and what not. Not sure what you mean Squishypants. I too followed MF construction faithfully and I was overwhelmed by MF when I rode it the first time.

The biggest mistake. I say Power Tower instead of a new coaster in 1998. What did they think i was going drive back to the park for a new freefall? And this gave SF magic mountain time to catch up. Now i know you all say that coasters don't add to the bottom line but they do. People need a reason to come back to the park don't they? What's the point of a hotel if people arn't going to be staying the night for another go at the rides. And if coasters don't do much for the bottom line power tower could't of done anything. (i do like power tower by the way)

Hypersonic XLC- 17 seconds of ride....only 1.8 of which are fun
I think it was a good addition to add 4 S&S towers to create Power Tower. One reason that Cedar Point added it was to claim the title for the tallest rdie of this kind. Cedar Point also has the most towers of these kind than any other park. It's very thrilling and scary to some. It has fairly good capacity because of the number of towers. It takes up a reasonably small footprint.
Did anyone really think they could have built a thrill ride that big in the area it is?
Well...a TA2K may have fitted. ;)

The only problem with that it that they hadn't even started construction on the prototype. :)
That's the reason for the wink.

...and that's the reason for the smile...LOL.
I never said that MF wasn't a great ride. I just said that after all it was built up to be, it didn't meet my expectations.
And, yes, I know CP doesnt' directly design coasters.

I disagree, John! I think the promotions/ marketing build-up for Millennium Force was unbelievable. I read a stat saying something to the effect that 90% of a certain population had heard about Millennium Force. Even to this day, you can see how the build-up is still effecting people. The best example is when new MF riders are in the queue, and they see the train drop off the first hill..they are always like, "man, it didn't look that bad in the video!". I think the build-up was fantastic. I know for me, personally, after my first ride back in early May 2000, I got off thinking, "What a great ride...but the promotions made it seem much worse than it really is"...

To me the biggest mistakes were taking out Mill Race, I say take out Thinder Canyon and put Mill Race there. The taking out the the Sky Slide, I loved those as a kid, and the happy-go-lucky signs. Do you think they still have them in storage, I'd buy all of them. I'd say CP's best move......................................................................................................................................Mean Streak!
SERIOUSLY, I LOVE THIS RIDE MORE THAN LIFE! I DON"T KNOW WHY EVERYONE HATES IT!

"Stop worrying about your stupid back, and ride Mean Streak! You bunch of babies!"
Without a doubt it was taking out the wooden signs. I'm sure there ae more than enough of us that could write a real leter (not an email) to the park, and if we don't get the signs back, then we atleast tried.
The biggest CP mistake absolutely had to be removing the Upside-Down Funhouse. That thing was the best. I loved that as a kid and would love to see a version of it return.

The lack of effects in the magnum's tunnels
They should have kept blue streak a classic...the new paint, the new restraints, THE ORANGE!!
and finally...
I cant blame anyone for tearing it down nowadays, but I would have loved to ride the Cedar Point Cyclone

The new ride signs suck, the Pirate Ride would probably be better than an arcade, trims does not make Mean Streak a top coaster, better themeing would make Disaster Transport a neater ride, and Fascination is way better than another 50's style, overpriced, restaurant.

Removing the Pirate Ride was a big mistake. I don't think a park is complete without a dark ride and PR was one of my favorites.
NO COMENT

I would have to agree with Ikaika, the Pirate Ride was Really cool instead of getting rid of it they could have just updated it to make it a little bit better but oh well

oh don't worry, the first hill isn't all that baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaadddddddddd!!!!!
While I don't agree Mean Streak was the biggest mistake, I will concede the breaks don't help it's reputation. Overall though I have to say the removal of the Pirate Ride. I know we all love the coasters but the park can't forget the adult population that can't ride them any longer. They have great coasters and kiddie areas but a few more rides for the older adults that don't include the train and paddlewheel would keep up the diversification.

Actually, the abomination that replaced Fascination is supposed to be an "authentic re-creation of a 1940s hamburger malt shop."
