Any word or thought on a ride for 2006???

The wood is for CCMR there replacing the wood on it. In 07 were suppose to get some new stuff (500 ft and a ride) and its going in the WWL area. It might be dueling (flyers or 500) well see next year. S&S Swings this year and wood for CCMR.

There is so little room to put in a 500 ft coaster in there. No way would this happen in that area. I'm not just saying this because I looked at the Cedar Point map, but I've looked around back there as well. However, You could fit in a good size GCI in there like Villian or Voyage. That would fit in there better much better.

Heeray, Screamin Swing... I dunno, seems fun to me, looks like it goes higher than MaXair as well as going all the way over.

How much does it cost to play on that extreme trampoline? Also can you jump up really high on it?

Not sure of the cost (probably on the CP website), but yeah, you can jump pretty high (just watch other people do it), but be warned, it hurts a lot. Whether or not it hurts in the "harness area" depends on who does it (mine personally killed once, and only slightly tortured me the other time), but what is the killer is your legs/arms. It's a lot more work than you'd think ><

I'd recommend doing it once, just to say that you have.

I noticed on the label on those black cans have the word "nut" on them. My guess is that it's some color paint in there and it's some shade of brown from the "nut" name.

Or they contain nuts... as in "nuts & bolts". Just a guess.

There is very seldom chance of a 500 footer anytime soon. Maybe a flyer but I hope not those really suck! Let me cross my fingers on a good floorless coaster or a good wooden coaster.

Since it says "TPI HVY HX NUT", I'm going to go on the side of DJ and say they are Heavy Hex Nuts.

If you watch the video they have on www.valleyfair.com you can see that the swing does not go all the way around.

they are grade 2 , 2" hex nuts with 8 threads per inch. Being grade 2 I don't think they'd be used on anything supporting a lot of weight. Benefits of previously working at a hardware store

jkoaster - Let me tell you why you (almost certainly) won't see anything close to what you have predicted.

Flyers - They suck. They're gimmick rides, and CP would certainly not build a 500' ride that sucks.

Dueling 500' Coasters - A five-hundred foot coaster would cost a lot of money. Two of them would cost an exorbitant amount of money - way more than anyone would want them to waste on one attraction. Dueling coasters are a gimmick, just like flyers.

Not to mention that B&M probibly wouldnt want to go that high just yet. At least not untill they have a working design.

No offence Shawn but a 500 footer wouldnt just be using that area alone, that would be impossible. It would more than likely use the area in its layout (if it has one). As much as I want a 500 footer, I dont think we can expect one anytime soon.
Though I'm still for something big for 07.

I still have no idea why people want a 500' coaster so bad. WHY!???? Do you really want another 1-trick pony like Dragster? I hope Cedar Point never gets a 500 footer unless they tear down Dragster to put it in. A 500 foot coaster in Cedar Point's current coaster collection would be pointless. (Pun not intended)

Quoted for Emphasis, I would much rather see something different, not the "OMG WTF^^ 500 FOOTAR COASTER!!11!!one!1!" Lets try something with more than 1 element this time ;)

A 500' coaster doesn't have to be a one trick pony like Dragster. They could make something with a 500' lift hill and other awesome elements. I'm not saying I really want one, I'm just saying they can be creative.

Not every 400+ ft tall coaster has to be like Dragster. I want to see a unique coaster like Millennium Force be built. Something that no other park will be able to copy *cough!! cough!! Six Flags....lol just kidding.:)

Seriously though, something unique.

-Adam G- The OG Dragster nut

um, do any of YOU want to shell out several tens of millions of dollars to develop a ride like that?

Every single element would have to be huge to accompany the height and speed. It would cost something HUGE.

TTD 120mph's avatar

No!! really?! Of course it would!! It'd probibly be up in the $30,000,000 range. I may have said it wrong but when I say "unique" I mean layout wise. Dragster & Kingda Ka, Raptor & Orochi, Mantis & Chang(kind of), Millennium Force & nothing!! You get where I'm going?

OH!! And speaking of large numbers......1000th POST!!!!! YAY!!! :)

-Adam G- The OG Dragster nut

There's nothing wrong with a 500ft rollercoaster as long as 1) it's longer than 30 secs, 2) it has more than one hill, and 3) it's an actual out-and-back, lift hill coaster. Look, I love TTD, don't get me wrong, but I would not wait hours in line for another one like it. Millenium Force is so great because it's a great all-around ride. That's also why Magnum has stood the test of time and it will be around probably longer than we all live.

Now, about 500ft in general. I think we're pushing the envelope too far too soon. I mean, it took decades to get to 200ft, then a decade to get to 300ft, then all of a sudden, a third of a decade to get to 400ft? That's crazy. Then, less than that for 500ft? What next, 600ft, the next year? Then 700ft the next month? I just want there to be a little more time in between because it builds up more suspense and makes it seem like a big deal. 400ft came so fast that 300ft never really sank in. Maybe it's just me, but that's what I think.

I live in the Cincinnati area and still haven't ridden "Banshee" yet...
(Don't hurt me!)

Vince982's avatar

Maybe instead of 500' they could work with 300' or 400' since they haven't really worked with those numbers that much.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Wanna know WHY they haven't? Because they can get a couple "regular" (150 feetish) sized rides with very good layouts for price of one giga/strata coaster. ;)

djDaemon's avatar

I'd be much more excited to see a hybrid in the 200' range, with a well-planned layout. For instance, why not have it travel throughout the back of the park, beginning at the WWL site, over/through MS, swing back around near Gemini, cross over to Millie Island, and finally head back toward the WWL site.

Yeah, just an idea. There is plenty of space back there for a ride like that, and it could provide a good ride experience with good duration and a lot of unique elements.
