CP should build a new coaster, not for height and speed, but to have more coasters than anywhere elses in the world. and to get more guest.
The best kind of prize is a SUR-prise.

JuggaLotus I think that's the best Idea on this thread. And the fact that someone agrees with me. I can imagine Cedar Point bringing in a floorless back there and seeing the whole back of the park start banging more. You'll even see more people on Mean Streak. I can see maybe a new flume going through part of the new coasters structure, maybe under the lift hill or something that would be pretty neat.

They will probably need a new coaster next year just to remain tied with SFMM, which appears to be building one of their own - possibly a flyer - for next year. There's a lot of construction markers over there right now.

What do I want more than anything? A Dark Ride! But I don't see that happening, so I think a Dive Machine would be the best bet.
The only flyer I have been on was X-Flight and it was "meh" at best.
Floorless coasters are okay (I've been on Medusa at Great Adventure, Dominator, and Scream! at Magic Mountain), but the "floorless" sensation isn't very effective unless you are in the front row. The layout would share plenty from Mantis and Raptor and would feel too similar.
A dive machine would provide a totally unique experience, and I could see one with a mine theme, where the trains are some sort of mine car and the drop is a mine shaft, going into Frontier Town.

Cedar Point rocks my socks.
^ Great point. Floorless coasters are point less. Maybe a dive machine with a cable lift hill that could be in the 300ft range.

Quality not quantity.

Hot dang, this thread has grown fast.

I can't believe it took until the 4th page for Mr. Chill to be mentioned =P
Two Cents:
I think a dive tower or drop coaster or whatever the heck you wanna call it would work great. That idea about being in Frontier Trail with the minecar theme would really work good, plus it would go great with their theme of every ride being innovative and different (MF broke 300 feet and had that cool cable, WT was first impulse with two twists, TTD broke 400 feet and was the first with the hydraulics I think? Xcelerator used compressed air, right?)
I personally think we should all shut our mouths, because they mighta been planning that exact Frontier Town dive tower idea, but then read it here and scrap it because they think it got leaked.
Hehe
As far as the 500 foot out-and-back going along the coast or the parking lot, I personally think that would be kind of pointless. 1) It would absolutely ruin the view of the lake, even more than DT has done, and 2) It just wouldn't be very intimidating or impressive, I think. I mean, yes MF's lift is pretty much on the other coast, but it doesn't entirely close off that whole side. TTD on the other hand is right in the center, for all to see.
I dunno, I just wouldn't take that direction if I were up high in the administration. Dive tower would be a great idea though, really easy to market too (OMG IT LIEK DROPZ 90 DEGRIE DOOWN LOL OMG ROFL)

^Xcelerator uses the same type of launch system as Top Thrill Dragster. Xcelerator was the first coaster to use the hydraulic launch system, I believe. I doubt Cedar Point will build another hyper/giga coaster that is all about the hills, height, speed, and airtime, as they already have Magnum and Millennium Force.( Although I definently would not complain if they were to build another one) I honestly have no clue as to what they will build in the coming years.
Coaster Count: 147
TopThrill420120, You are correct. Xcelerator was the first hydraulic launch coaster.

what would look best back there. a wooddie. mean streak look really good were it is why not ad one more woodie back there. it sound good to me. or if that dont build a coaster they could put in a dark ride. one were you get to shot things those are fun
I'm all for some quality wood by Gravity Group back in Frontier Town. It would obviously be better than MS in its current state. And we wouldn't have to worry about a trimmed drop or the supports shaking apart.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
Have you seen the insane new woodie Gravity Group is doing for Holiday World. Here it is: http://rcdb.com/document172.htm
I'll take any coaster that has that much air time.
Hmmm...
On Holiday World's website, it says that Voyage is 174 feet tall. On RCDB, it says it's 154 feet tall.

My oppinion is Cedar Point should have Intimin build a 500 foot coaster. The lift hill could be really steap 50-65 degrees with 400 foot tall loops and the station can be where WWL is. That would be awesomly insane. Chances of that happening are probably 30-70 Could but dont expect it.
Yeah new year, and finally got my license, well back in august. Im in need of a trip to the park.
Do you honestly expect CP to build a 400 foot tall loop?

Yeah, well were not really expecting a 500 footer either are we. ;) *** Edited 7/14/2005 1:22:50 AM UTC by TTD 120mph***
