Any word or thought on a ride for 2006???

That would be a very, very big loop.

The supports alone........WOW!

Hay buisiness towers are excessive 1200 feet we still have 780 feet to catch the height of towers. Dang that will be awesome the day roller coasters are taller than buildings. We wont live for that so dont get your hopes up.

Yeah new year, and finally got my license, well back in august. Im in need of a trip to the park.

I can't believe what I'm hearing!!! I could care less about a 500 ft tall coaster or the MOST coasters right now. Give me a coaster with some meat or a new water ride!! The last two coasters at the Point built were one-trick ponies. We need a coaster with multiple elements like Raptor. I'd like to see a multiple looping flier, but if we get a flume ride, I'd be happy too. I'm sick of this 500ft crap.

LOL! Man I'll laugh my ass off if CP gets a 500 footer next year. :)

i think they should build another compact coaster like wild cat sort of or maybe another junior coast just to make it a even more of a family park

or a dive what ever with a 95 degree drop *** Edited 7/14/2005 2:08:33 AM UTC by A2skater***

I would be disapointed if they built a small, family coaster. I know that sounds small minded and ignorant, but it just wouldn't seem "Cedar Point", if that makes any sense.

If CP gets a new coaster, it most likely wouldn't be wood because

1. They take a lot of space

2. You have to walk the whole track (i think) to inspect it

3. CP has 4 wood coasters already.

^CP only has 2 wooden coasters, Mean Streak and Blue Streak. I have to concur with your observations, though, because Blue Streak and Mean Streak both aren't very popular. (but they definently aren't the best woodies in the world, either.)

Cedar Creek Mine Ride and Gemini have steel track and wooden structures. Technically speaking, they are classified as steel coasters.

Coaster Count: 147

Ya, you are probably right. Although I still think Gemini is a woodie.

How would a coaster not run on steel tracks?

might want to do a little coaster research there tophat. wooden coaster tracks are made out of wood, but have steel plates for the wheels to ride on. but, the overall track (and usually structure) is wood. check rcdb.com for some pics of coaster tracks and stuff.

and yes, gemini and mine ride are steel coasters.

You can see pretty well how a coaster runs on wood- http://rcdb.com/ig16.htm?picture=2

Here's a really good shot of Blue Streak's track:

(no on-ride, please - Walt)

And here's a look at CCMR's track:

http://www.rcdb.com/ig18.htm?picture=4

You can see that the entire track on CCMR is made of tubular steel, and Blue Streak's track is made mostly of wood, like halltd said.

And not to mention that CCMR was CP's first coaster to use steel tubular track.
At least I'm pretty sure it was.:P

(And to add to the track disscusion) Basically it's like this-

Wooden coasters = steel plates attached to wood
Steel coasters = steel tubes attached to more steel *** Edited 7/14/2005 2:59:20 AM UTC by TTD 120mph***

So all you guys said a Floorless is pointless and so is a 500 foot coaster? What would you guys rather see if it came down to a choice? I would pick the floorless. A floorless would fit into Frontiertown so well IMO. Maybe Cedar Point could be the first to make a new element with a floorless. Raptor was the first inverted coaster ever to make the cobra roll, so who knows. I think I'm happy with what we have now. I mean we have the best damn 2 coasters in the park and world with Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster. What more could we want. We have 16 coasters, a lot of parks only have 9 or 10 or some have even less than that. We are spoiled, but it's cool to be living in Ohio and having Cedar Point.

I never said getting a 500 footer would be pointless!

And don't forget that there's another park that has just as many coasters as Cedar Point does.(kind of)
What's it called again???.......Oh yeah! Six Flags Magic Mountain, eh...who cares.:)

I would much rather see a flying instead of a floorless. I can see that a floorless would just blend in too much with Raptor and Mantis, and it really wouldn't stand out. I love X-Flight at GL, and I feel that if someone could just make them taller and faster, they could really improve. A flyer would be like nothing else we have at CP. I have never been on S:UF so I wouldn't know about waiting on the brakerun, but I think a flyer would be a positive addition.

I would rather see another invert more than anything. But since that's not going to happen, I'd have to say hyper-floorless over a flyer.

Goodbye MrScott

I would rule out the 500ft for a long time. I was talking to a TTD employee and he said the city of Sandusky didn't want TTD to be built because of the ceiling rule. Now just how far can CP push that rule.
