Any word or thought on a ride for 2006???

I dont understand why everyone wants there to be more attention to a ride. I love short lines and nice calm places. I say leave frontier town deserted and put a new coaster in the front of the park.

"Thats when friends were nice, to think of them just makes you feel nice"

Well look at what Cedar Point is doing, kind of how it seems you guys are leading. The Wicked Twister/Chaos area seemed a little unattended to, they throw over maXair and suddenly it's a new section. They take out (excuse me, sell) Demon Drop, in one of the BUSIEST sections of the park (obviously, it's the front). I think it would follow their pattern perfectly to drop something in the back ghost town area, somewhere that rarely gets attention outside of Halloweekends (what with the Fright Zone and the various houses/Werewolf Canyon). It'd seem like they're trying even out the crowds maybe?

2008 - Games (Area 3/Scales)
2009 - Games Supervisor
2010 - Season pass holder.

Yeah if Cedar Point does Sell Demon Drop this season, they'll probably focus on fixing the area up like they did around MaXair with the games. This year I've noticed Wicked Twister with a longer line. Last time I was there. I actually waited about 25 minutes to ride. Isn't that awesome?!?! I like waiting in line. I know I have problems...lol. I'd like to see them do some work with Frontiertown, but if Demon Drop is sold, then wait until 07 to put the Flyer in. I don't see Cedar Point putting in 500 foot coaster with all the things you guys mentioned. I think Kinzel will give us that bang with 2 coasters in the same year rather than put themselves into debt like Six Flags is. Anyone agree with me on that?

I honestly wonder if they have already over-extended themselves with the installations of MF, TTD, Xcelerator at Knotts, Hydra at Dorney, and the purchase of Geauga Lake with the addition of a huge waterpark.

I mean I see Cedar Point putting in Floorless in 2007 along with maybe a Flyer if we are lucky. But Cedar Fair needs to slow down a little bit. I think if they lower admission to $35 dollars at least that will draw a lot of people in. Cedar Point doesn't have control of the parking lot price, that comes under the city of sandusky.

LOL, where do you guys get some of these theories?

First, CP owns and runs the parking lot, not the City of Sandusky. You may be thinking of the parking tax the city wanted to charge. But, make no mistake, CP is in control of parking lot prices and Causeway toll.

The parking and Causeway is actually run by a division of CP. It used to be called the Cedar Point Bridge Company, but I think it is called Magnum Management Corporation now. And, at least the Causeway part, is PUCO regulated.

Second, if you look at Cedar Fair financial information available publicly, you will see that the company is in fine shape and didn't overextend themselves with new ride installations.

Then what was all this talk about Cedar Point suing the city of sandusky for parking tax all about?

Hey everyone, I haven't really gotten into this topic mainly because most of its spectulation. However, I would like to give my word and thoughts for the future right now.
Jeff, Walt, MrScott, and everyone else...Demon Drop is for sale and that swinging ride is going in it's place which hopefully will be nice. People are tired of the big problem in magnum's station, so its totally going to be torn down and next year a new one will be in it's place. Also, Gemini will no longer have separate control booths for each train. One control room will be built and set in the middle (of both trains) fully enclosed with a/c for the ops.
Sorry no coaster next year, 2007 won't see a flyer or multi-D coaster but a straight normal one like MF. It will be located back in frontier town with the antique cars and white water landing both possibly being affected. This awesome new ride will stand over 500 feet (cable lift hill like MF, thats right, lift hill!) with an estimated top speed of 140 mph. It will be like no other roller coaster before, thats right, cp does it again!!!!
Also in the near to distant future, cedar fair will look into buying all of the paramount parks, not saying thats going to happen for sure, but it could.
Remember in two years from now when your all on it, yall heard it here first! *** Edited 8/19/2005 5:05:59 AM UTC by ejh1701***

Trip Count 2003: 13 2004: 24 2005: 22 2006: 25 2007: 25

Alright ejh1701, if that happens, we will give you full credit for beating us to the punch...500 foot lift hill...ha ha ha.

[sarcasm]WOW!! I'm not sure if I can believe all of that.[/sarcasm]

ejh1701, You wouldn't happen to be the Lemon Chill Guy by any chance would you? ;)

You can tell me, I'll keep it a secret.

Alright, alright, everyone can have their thoughts. I am sure the next roller coaster is going to be a big one, but I'm not sure its going to be that high. A 500 foot roller coaster would be crazy, cp has done it before so we shouldn't count it out.

The real question is who is he and can he be trusted?

Is this just speculation, or does he have a source?

He has a source alright.....his source's first name is HIS and last name is A--. Because, you know they are going to put one of those swinging things right next to the swinging spinny thing.

Magnum's station doesn't need a complete rebuild. It just needs a little organization. Having a crowd control person at the top of the stairs would go a LONG way.

Gemini changes, you're kidding right? As a rule, one set of eyes on Dispatch per track, especially since they should be dispatching pretty close together. I wouldn't want one person trying to keep track of both trains and making sure everyone is clear.
Also, down the middle is where all the people wait, so the dispatch would have to try and look around people just to be able to make sure everyone is clear. Where they are at now (on unload side) they can see both sides of the train with no trouble because there aren't people in the way.

I'd also like to double check his math for estimating the speed to be 140 mph. Even with an extra 120 feet of height (if they follow the 205, 310, 420 pattern) I'm not sure how it'll hit 140 mph. I think that's also a number being extricated from his backside.

As for buying all the paramount parks, why? That is a major investment that I'm not sure CP could make if they wanted to.

If you end up right and ALL this stuff comes true, I'll be the first to apologize. But right now, my Bullsxxx'O'Meter is redlining.

Okay, now I took my Allegra this morning, so who's the one with all the bull crap around here?

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Actually, the pattern could also put it at an extra 115 feet, not 120...

Regardless, you're prolly right - we had a similar discussion about terminal velocity a while back, and it would seem that 140 would be a bit out of range - unless there was some sort of propulsion system to help it out, but thats also unlikely.

Brandon

I'd rather see a excitng and kick *** ride instead of a record break. Maybe CP could put in a kick ***(lol) floorless that is a record breaker.

Oh yeah, what is the speed and height records for floorless coasters??

I heard in another thread that there is a height limit now of 450 feet, because of the airplanes and the buildings near by. I forget what thread it is but there is a height limit in with the city of Sandusky.

djDaemon's avatar

I highly doubt that to be true - there are PLENTY of skyscrapers (not in Sandusky, I know) that FAR exceed that height.... thats only like 45 stories.
