Are there echoes in here? :)

MIA need some kind of steel coaster. Either in invert or a hyper would be a much needed addition for them and I think it would draw in more crowds.

I think CP should built a wooden roller coaster like The Voyage. They all ready have enough steel roller coasters for right now.

But not enough inversions in my opinion.

unless they build a coaster taller than MF WITH an actual layout, it will most likely always have long lines.

Or if they find out how to dispatch trains in intervals. I think MF leads TTD by a little, but they pretty much have the same amount of people in line all the time. MF's line just goes slower. (Kudos to TTD :)) Looking in history CP has themselves another (Corkscrew-Gemini) and (Magnum-Raptor). Those two pairs are similar to (MF-TTD) lines.

They are a pair comparable to those other two, but like you said, not even close in the capacity department. When they were built, Corkscrew's capacity was high with it's short interval and Gemini had 6 trains. Magnum and Raptor are just people eating machines when run properly. Unfortunately when MF and Dragster are run at their highest capacity, their numbers still don't even come close to the others in their golden years.

It's funny though, if you notice all the alterations to the coasters mentioned above (minus Raptor) the park seems to be doing everything in their power to ruin the once harmonic operations of the people eaters. Rather than motivating the MF and Dragster crews to deliver better numbers, it seems like they are forcing the other rides to operate at a less than optimal level. Did I say funny? I meant asinine.

^Actually I was meaning MF for poor capacity. TTD seems to do well with large crowds when there are no delays. It's just no Raptor, Gemini, or Magnum.

Nevermind, I'm an idiot :) Do Jeff or Walt or someone have the ability to delete posts?

i agree w/ CP man... cp could use a nice wooddie... not that there is ne thing wrong w/ ms... they just can take a break w/ the steel... and mia could use a nice steel hyper coaster... *** Edited 7/24/2005 1:46:14 AM UTC by milleniumforcerocks***

Gomez, it's actually the perception that Dragster is moving more riders than Millennium Force. Two launches on Dragster equals one train on MF. If the rides are running at capacity MF's trains will complete the whole course in under 90 seconds, and the best I've heard Dragster launching trains is 40 seconds between launches, but that doesn't factor in the train moving process and pre-staging time.

When it's all added up, Dragster's capacity is a little less than MF. Cedar Point claims that Dragster can hit 1500 people an hour while MF can hit 1600. In reality they don't get anywhere close to this figure. They actually probably operate at around 1000 an hour now. Of course the final number ultimately falls on the crews themselves so one can be moving more people than the other one hour, and then the reverse is true the next hour.

In contrast, they claim Raptor can hit 1800 and that Magnum can hit 2000 an hour. Since they first established this number for Magnum, they slowed down the lift which hinders it's possible capacity. In reality, an average hour at both of these rides is around 1400-1600 people. On Magnum I've personally witnessed a high 1700 to low 1800 hour. And I can promise you that that was an insane day at work. Fun, but demanding as hell.

Well the reason Magnum gets more capacity between Millennium Force is that Magnum can have two trains on the circuit at once. Where as Millennium Force you have to wait for the other train to come back before you launch the next one. It's still worth the wait to me. Im sure if the Millennium Force was longer in length, maybe 7,190 for an example they could have two trains on at once. I just made that number up, I wouldn't change the length, it's perfect to me.

Who says they're not allowed to have more than one train on the circuit at once. I think it's just tough to do now because of the extra time they spend making sure the "guests of exceptional size" are properly secured

Jason, Millennium Force doesn't have block brakes, so only one train can be out at one time. One can, however, be on the lift hill while another is completing it's circut.

For Millennium Force?

and the fact that if you let another train go, and the first one doesn't make it back in time, or valleys, those people are going to get very, very hurt.

No they wouldn't because even if they sent a train early, the lift would set up.

Just as CP4LIFE said, back when they ran the ride properly, they would clear the train in the loading station just as a train past over the bunny hill at the end of the course. The train in the unloading station would advance into the loading station, and the one that was just on the course would slowly coast into the unloading station without stopping. If they could run it like this again, they would destroy Dragster's numbers.

This is more of what i was speaking of. I used to figure about an hour wait from the vending machines. Now it seems more like 90 minutes.

i thought thats how it used to b... bu t when i was at cp a few weeks ago every train was stoped and waiting for the train to get cleared... it was a slow moving day it went on all day... i too would figure a half from the vendings
