Any word or thought on a ride for 2006???

I hope they don't let TTD get like that. Well there half way there but.......... oh well

Honestly I hope they don't get anything even remotely close to the Italian Job because that was the cheesiest, most un-impressive ride I have ever ridden.

ever.

Not only was it slow and boring, the effects (whatever parts of them worked) looked completely fake and un-inspired.

For all the hype surrounding that ride, I just didn't "get" it.

I don't know, I thought it was a fun little ride. Not "OMG let's go jump over some fences to go get back in line!" fun, but fun nonetheless.

It had a pretty high giggle factor for me, which is precisely what PKI was looking for, In my opinion. They have found their niche in regards to catering more towards the kiddies. Their Golden Tickets in this area from years past speak for themselves.

Yeah, PKI does have a few bigger coaster but it does seem most are a little "tamer"

And I think its agreed that CP can't/shouldn't theme rides to much.

( I said something about music in the headrest in another post about DT. Seeing that it is kind of like rock'n'roller coaster.)

Good ride? Yes.

Over-hyped? Definitely!

Goes to show that Siebert & Co. knows how to do his job ;)

I still don't think we'll see a new coaster for 2006. There are other improvements that can be made in other departments that can pull in more people into the park. Sure, Cedar Point can round off its already solid coaster collection with a Floorless coaster or whatnot, but will it pull in the people?

That's why I think we're seeing other attractions being added besides coasters. Look at Castaway Bay, maXair, and Soak City expansions. You're not going to see the increases in attendance that Magnum and Raptor pulled in, in their inaugural years because there isn't all that much ground-breaking stuff out there to draw more people.

Instead, you're going to see a move for Cedar Point to become a multi-day year round resort. That's where the money is going to be made, the people who come from around the world to spend a weekend at the park, and the more you give them to do, the longer they will want to stay. It's safer to spend a lot less on a flat ride and see the ROI quickly to give the guest more to do than it is to spend $25 Million on a coaster because Kinzel is retiring.

The focus of the company is on the future, not on Kinzel retiring. Which is why I'm guessing we'll see a safe addition of a Huss Top Spin or some other flat ride. Since Kinzel was talking about a possible water ride instead of maXair, I'm going to guess that Top Spin will have water jets ala WOF, Knott's, and Dorney's.

I don't think those marks are for a flat ride. It is to early for those marks to be there for a flat. Thats why I would have to go with a coaster. Remember Maxair's marks didn't show up until September or October.

I said this over at Cbuzz, and I'll say it here too. Why would Kinzel give away what he was thinking about doing for this year if he still had plans on doing it next year? It's just not the man's style. CP has always liked to keep stuff like this under very tight wraps, and it's just not like him to let their future plans slip out like that.

I think that they had indeed thought about adding a flat similar to maXair, but with water involved as well...perhaps something similar to what Dollywood is putting in next year. However, those plans were scrapped when they saw how well Delerium went over with the crowds and decided to spruce up the front of the park instead. It really needed it, and it looks 100% better than it did last year.

In my opinion a Top Spin just doesn't seem like it would fit into the frontier atmosphere very well.

On another note, the whole blog thing really gets me excited. The fact that they didn't start their's before Holiday World started dropping hints about their huge expansion plans makes me think that CP has something similar in store. I doubt they would make this whole guise for just a flat ride for next year.

However, if that is all they add for next year, I would suspect that there would be no mention of hints in the blog this year, and then they have the seeds planted for catching us off guard for the 2007 season announcement next year.

All this, and the fact that its quite early in the season and threads like this one remain open has to make you think. I mean, every other year prior to something substantial being built these types of threads are killed immediately.

In any case, we shall see...

Why can't a top spin fit into the Frontier theme?? There was one (correct me if I am wrong) at Six Flags Ohio/WoA that was called Texas Twister with a western theme. Don't say it can't be done. and another name could be Tumbleweed seeing it attributes.

The blog is quite interesting. I want to be the guy hanging off MF every morning :).

And whats the Pointbuzz record for most replies to a single thread?

"Ive got the need, the need for speed!"

Well there was one over 1200 replies long, but the lengthy discussion actually spanned over 3 large threads. For the many of you that weren't around in 2002, Area 51 is what we called the fenced in area that housed Dragster's footers.

If you've got nothing to do go read through them and laugh at how naive we all were.

I have seen some posts wanting dueling flyers or a floorless (both B&M). How about a dueling scenerio with 1 flyer and 1 floorless. CP will minimize the footrprint of 2 B&M models. This would provide some interesting interlocking elements. Also they would get the dueling scenerio without building 2 of the same ride experiences.

Just a thought though.

That is a really good idea.

After seeing the MF track for the first time in 2000, I had an idea. Take the square frame like MF uses to start. Create a Dualing coaster by having a Floorless or standard coaster on top and a suspended or flying on the bottom.

The only way i could see the loading station work would be to have a 2 story station. My biggest doubt was how they would support such a track, seing as how you have trains on top and bottom, all the supports would have to be off of the sides.

For anyone wanting something original, I don't think you could get much more original than that.

Thanks FastBall. I have had this thought for a couple of years (Since being in Orlando). The ride there is redundant and why would a park build basically the same coaster twice, when they can have the same scenerio with two different experiences. This would add some action to a flyer, which I have heard so many do not like the stand alone version. (I persoanlly liked X-Flight, but Vekoma has boring elements, I like what I see with B&M though).

Were to build though is the question? I was looking at the old Swan boat area, plus the Antique cars area (or on MF island with loading on tha main strip) I only get to CP once a year, so some of the locals may have a better input on location. It should be highly visable though.

I was also thinking of seperate loading stations and queues. The trains then can cross section on the lift and then drop against each other. The theme could be fictional animal based. The flyer could be some sort of large bird and the flooless a large spider. (or some sort of godzilla type beasts).

BillK, if they removed WWL and perhaps Antique Cars and you have all the room you'd ever need...well not for that 500 ft. cumulo-strata :) coaster, but enough for dueling B&M's.

Different coaster types dueling has been thought of before, but no park has ever attempted it. I think it would be pretty cool. Many people voice their concerns with B&M flyers as being boring, so how could the pacing of a flyer match with the pacing of a floorless? By sitting in a prone position on the flyer the ride can't exert too much force without it becoming uncomfortable. If they chose to do this (which is a long shot) I think it would be cool if they situated the flyer's lift above the floorless's so the people in the trains could watch the other as they went up the lift. *** Edited 7/20/2005 3:33:56 AM UTC by CP_bound***

Between the two rides there is probably about 10 acres. And don't worry theres not a chance that you can fit a 500ft coaster in that area. As far as the music being on the ride that would be kind of interesting. I wouldn't use that method though because you can't talk to your partner while riding. I wouldn't mind seeing the two B&Ms Race each other like Gemini does. I think that would be interesting to see. Your friends are on their backs while your still sitting there going up the hill....lol.

Don’t forget people throwing up. :)

And anyway, I like the idea of a dueling B&M Flyer and Floorless together. But, like CP_bound said, I don't think a flyer could keep up with a floorless. So how about a Floorless and a Sitting coaster (Kumba)? I know it doesn’t sound as good as a dueling coaster that consists of a coaster that flies and one that is normal.
But don't you think that B&M could come up with some way of making they're flyers faster? I guess there isn't is there?

-Adam G- The OG Dragster nut

I agree dude, although I'd rather just put up the Floorless first with the stats I talked about on Page 11 or 12. This way you could see how the other coaster would fit in there. I also Like the idea of making the WWL more compact, I forgot who said that but thats a good idea. Add some theming to the ride as well.

That "double" idea is a great one, I just see it having LOADS of issues and problems, everything from the spitting/gum/puke thing to maintenance nightmares (what happens when one of the wheels gets messed up.. that's right, the whole thing explodes).

On a side note, that Area 51 search is AWESOME! I wasn't around back then (young, naive, unenlightened in the CP world), but some of those posts are just... awesome. I can't wait until it's 3 years from now, and we're pulling up this thread for giggles. HI FUTURE SELF!!!!

Got any clues for us yet on this one, Jeff? :)
