Announcement this month?

I like the that statement a lot. The anticipation is mounting...

------------------
June 28th: LocoBazooka Tour (Sevendust headlining)
July 11th: Korn, Puddle of Mudd, and Deadsy

I think what Jeff is trying to say is that our expectations for how high or how fast this new ride (intamin rocket coaster?) is going to be might be a little too much, but the world will take notice again-just like they did for Xcelerator.I just hope it isn't an exact clone.

And of course if I am wrong, please correct me Jeff, if you can.

Frankly, I haven't been disappointed by anything CP has added. An exact clone of Xcelerator wouldn't disappoint ME in the least!

I was thinking that he meant the world would take notice again like they did MF...

Exactly what I thought CPbound. With all that has been stated by certain people on this board, I can reasonably say a very good guess for 2003 would be we will see MF dwarfed by another coaster...Of course I could be wrong, but if that is the case...I LIKE IT!!!!!

This second hill is my favorite part of the ride. It is so Cool!

Dan not going to CP anymore??..Just a big Scam
Raptor Flights: 538

If there is any statistic people are going to gripe about, I my opinion it's the ride time. This is, of course, me just talking out my ass and not even knowing for sure what the park is getting ;o)

Draegs,

I was thinking the exact same thing.

Jeff's comment about the world taking notice kinda makes me think we may have another height record on our hands. However, just like with Xcelerator, he anticipates people to be labeling it as an awesome, but short ride.

Well, I am not going to try and guess what Jeff meant by those comments. I do think, however, that some official word must be coming closer or he wouldn't be "letting it slip" as much as he has for the past few days.

"Enthusiasts may complain about one aspect of the new ride"....hmmmmmm. Lift, not "full circuit", capacity...it could be lots of things.

I think it's safe to guess that you won't know anything until the kids go back to school.

Jeff, your statement fits exactly what I was thinking of, while I don't know the names or colors of this new ride, at this point, it has to be a given.

It is a bit silly (also fun...) to speculate about what one thing enthusiasts may complain about, but if it does turn out to be an Intamin rocket coaster, I hope we end up with only lap bars like Xcelerator...
Guess I'll have to listen in to the Cedar Fair second quarter conference call to see if there are any hints.

Jeff, are you willing to do what you did last year for WT and type in a coded message what the new attraction will be? or are you not that informed yet?

------------------
D/\MN GINA!!!!!!!!

Heh. Nice idea. Just make sure to not use the same keypair as last year if so :)

What would be the point of a coded message if no one has the key to decode it? Even if he didn't know he could encode something to the extent of "Millennium Force is Magnum's brother", and we still wouldn't know what he's saying.

Michael McCormack CP '02: 24
Magnum XL 200: 191 (316)
Millennium Force: 6
Wicked Twister: 24

Proof. He posts the coded message, say, August. He then later posts the key to decode it in October or so. We then all go "ohhhh! I knew it all along."

"And that's why I'm a coaster enthusiast." -- Dude behind me on MF.

All that shows is that he knew or didn't know...why would anyone care about that?

And by the sound of his "one thing enthusiasts will complain about" he definitely knows something.

There are any number of things enthusiasts can whine about. You've got lack of airtime, ride time, no lift or fast lift lessening anticipation, capacity, etc. Some people can find things to complain about with any coaster! :) I know I can't wait until the announcement and nomatter what it is, I'll still be at CP next year! :)

Last year, before the WT announcement, lots of people were doubting that Jeff knew anything, because he couldn't say. So, he composed a message, encrypted it with a PGP keypair, and posted the encrypted message. Much zaniness ensued as people tried to figure out what it said (with some people even claiming to have cracked it, which was highly unlikely at best).

After Cedar Point announced the ride, he released the keypair, so we could all see that yes, what he'd said was what Cedar Point announced.

It was clever and entertaining, especially with the people trying to crack it :)

I am beginning to think that the ride time would be the gripe...which is still a good thing. If it's roasting at 110+ mph then who cares about the length?
