Announcement this month?

If they shut down Paddlewheel excursions at the end of August, i would think the cause of this was so that people riding on the boat can not see any construction. The ride would then be opened again for 2003 and new lame jokes will be made about the new ride.

And jeff will we be able to ride chaos and troika at Cedar Point in 2003, but in a different spot? or are they being shipped away?

D/\MN GINA!!!!!!!!

I hope they keep Troika somewhere in the park. It is my daughter's favorite ride - although this year CCMR took a big step forward in her heart.

Was Troika ever somewhere else? I somehow recall that it moved.

Troika has been in that spot since it opened in 1976 with Corkscrew and Dodgem I.

Come on folks. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon or a brain scientist to figure out the reason behind any thing involving these rides? Do we forget that the CP&LE was down at the end of '99 for what I'm guessing will be similar reasons? Does anyone remember if PE or Giant Wheel was part of that, too?

But Jeff, if you didn't open your big hole, there'd be no traffic in this forum :)

Yeah there would. Someone posts something every time a sea gull takes a crap in front of the Web cam.

Giant Wheel stayed open until closing day that year (which was three or four weeks earlier than it will be this year). However, I think it was gone in less than a week.

AH...but then again, could Jeff be throwing a comment like that out to throw people off?

Jeff IS pretty tricky...

Regardless, CP has few enough flat rides that I can't believe Troika and Chaos will be removed. I'd be more likely to believe they will be moved to another part of the park.

I am 100% sure there will not be an official announcement this month.

Probably not. I think any sort of construction will be fairly obvious, just like it was with Power Tower in 97, MF in 99, and WT last year. They will probably need to at least temperarily fill part of the lagoon (as they did when they were building MF) in order to facilitate the movement of large construction vehicles onto the island. I don't see Paddlewheel disappearing completely for next year, but it might be closed at the end of this season for construction. I really have no clue about Troika or Chaos, but CP is a big park and they can probably find room for them.

There was a rumor last season that Chaos and Troika would move to Peanuts Playground, which in turn would be removed. Maybe that old rumor will finally come true.

I really find it hard to believe that Cedar Point would be getting rid of Chaos or Troika. Chaos is an intense flat ride, and they really can't afford to loose either of the two rides. Besides, there is plenty of room someplace else in the park for these two rides if the park decides that they will need to move them.

Jeff made no mention of them being removed...just that they won't be able to be ridden this year at the end of March. Looks as if CP's 69th ride with be a coaster because I don't see them removing any of those rides. I think that Troika and Chaos will be moved to the Peanuts Playground...they need some good flats over there.

July 11th: Korn, Puddle of Mudd, and Deadsy

With the growing likelihood of a new coaster installation two years in a row, I can't help but think that CP cares just a bit about the crown of 'park with most coasters.'

Don't get me wrong, I don't think they're locked in a head-to-head competetion with SFMM by any means, it's more of a general pride thing and a helluva marketing tool (-to have the most coasters...).

Remember though back in '99 the night of closing day they already started to tear out the queue on the Giant Wheel.

long live the sky slide

If not in the exact area where Peanuts Playground is right now, I could definitely see Chaos and Troika go somewhere in the Oceana area. Even with WT, the area could definitely use a little more life.

So what kind of jokes are there about Paddlewheel Excursions?
If CP cared that much about the crown of most coasters in a park I think you would have seen them put in another kiddie coaster or a cheaper spinning coaster or something like that.

I don't think Cedar Point is going to sacrifice quality for that record.

Cedar Point, the cure for the Summertime blues! Of course, Summertime isn't blue for me.

I'm sure that, while enthusiasts may compain about one aspect of the new ride, the world will not be able to help but take notice... again.
