Some departments say you can, others not. I think it was a Bob Woz think, but he's no longer there.
I think in Rides you can..since we have the hardest job for being out in the sun, and running)

was there a specific reason at all?
Nobody ever told me it wasn't allowed. Bob Wozniak didn't say anything when he saw me drinking milk in front of guests so I don't know why water would be a problem.
Ok, I am working on making a list of the stuff that I have and what I need to take with me. Can someone make a list of stuff that I should bring with me. I am figuring that someone that has already been there might be able to give me a better list then just the basics that I have read from what I have got from them.

Clothes
Bathing suit
sandals (for shower)
backpack
water bottle
sunglasses
tv
refrigerator
xbox or something
mp3 player
laptop
Now obviously a tv, an xbox, computer, and an mp3 player aren't required but it helps give you something to do when you aren't working. Theres concerns about people stealing stuff but those aren't that big of a problem as long as you ALWAYS keep your door locked. Having a laptop is nice because then you don't have to wait in line to use the god awful computers in the rec center. An mp3 player is nice when you're waiting for the bus to go to work or you're on break. We played a lot of video games last summer after we got off work or when we had days off and we watched a lot of movies.
I know I am bringing my laptop, I can put music on my smartphone to listen to it. I don't own a game system so I can't bring that. I am trying to find a different TV to bring cause I don't really want to bring my 32" HDTV. I know that it wouldn't be in my room for very long. I am planning on jumping over to the cedar dorms when they open. I process in on May 9th, so I won't have to worry about riding the bus very long, if I ride it at all. I will probably just drive my truck over.
Are there very many handicap spots in the employee parking area? Are they generally filled up? I won't be working until 5pm or so since I am working in Revenue Accounting. It will be nice once I move to the cedars, so I can just walk to work and will have a/c in my room. I just bought a 6000 BTU window a/c unit. From what I have heard about the size of that room, that unit should make it nice and cool in there.

Wow... fun post... Just thought I'd introduce myself on here. I'll be hiring in June 18 working in Ride Op. My contract says I'm assigned to the Mantis, but from what I've read on here, sounds like I might not be there lol. I agreed to work weekends and I'm not sure if I should regret that or not. I'm going to be going to UofM, so I'll be living near Flint. Are the Greyhounds my best bet for getting there during my weekend time or would I be better off with something else?
First-timer to the states , probably first and last time to CP this summer before graduation, so couple of questions wanna ask and please advice :)
1. heard that ppl recommend Common dorms, i have no car plus i dont know whether i will get used to local louies life, but im adaptable, easy to get along and excited to meet new friends, so which housing would u recommend? and im going alone. im thinking of common apt or dorm? is transport a big problem?
2. if im bringing laptop and other stuffs like that, do lockers in dorms make a big differernce for security?
3. my process -in date is 1st June but my plane will arrive like 11.30pm on 31st, so any transport get to CP and can i process-in that late?
4. what about uniform? i read from jobsnet and it said only 10% black color is allowed for white sports shoes. is it that straight or how about little other color for the logo sth like that?
5. will u recommend to prepare the shoes before or after process-in?
1. From what I have heard, If you want to meet people, its best to live in the common apartments since there are up to 16 people per apartment. there is a bus that goes between the commons and the park so you will be able to get there, But I have heard that the bus gets very crowed and you have to get out to the bus stop early cause it might have to take acouple trips before you can get on it. If you don't want to worry about having to ride the bus to work, I would say to live in the Golds dorms which are on the point, right next to the water tower.
2. I know the common dorms have a locker in them and you just have to bring a lock for it. I am bringing my laptop but I have also bought a footlocker to store stuff in and a laptop lock so i can lock my laptop to something.
3.You will prob have to tax a taxi to the common housing units at that time and process into housing for the night, then process in first thing in the morning. There is always someone in the housing area that can check you in.
4. I am not sure exactly how they determine what is ok on the shoes and what isn't. I know from what I have read that you can buy shoes from them if you need to.

Hey, I'm mid application to CP this summer for group utility crew. Can anybody tell what their pay rate is? (both for newbies and rehires, I worked for KI after Cedar Fair bought it)
Also, can you tell me what the average hours/week are like, for utility crew?
To give you an idea what I'm used to, at KI I got $9.35 an hour my second year of utility crew. We weren't allowed to work more than 60 hours a week and it was usually 35-40 a week.
Reading this, it sounds like things might be a *little* different up north.
Being a first time poster here, I decided my chances at being hired into CP are pretty good considering my previous work references and the amount of employees required, so I'm a bit early on the "c-ya there"part.
I'm hoping (praying) that I make it into ride ops. It's a bit of a change for me turning 26 in a couple weeks and having worked (mostly)in sales for 10 years, but I'm looking foward to it. Long hours and physical labor sound like what I'm looking for. Just trying to pack away some money while I wait for a big move to NC.
As far as questions, I have a ton, but first... shoes.

Is there too much grey in them? The insole on most adidas and vans and the like(classic/skate) shoes give me pretty major back problems and I'm hoping that I can find a pair of running shoes that are cheap but appropriate.
I'm also wondering if I have a better chance of finding roomates that respect each other by chance or if I should start looking now (commons dorms, hopefully.)
I've already added a couple people from here to my messenger hoping I can catch them on, but if you want to add me, I'm on;

I would say yes, there's too much grey. They need to be predominantly white, with no more than 10% of any other color.
^ Thank you very much. I read the 10% but since shoes don't really have an even surface to judge color on, I have trouble guessing. I'll look more into the "single stripe" shoes. Thank you for the speedy response.

Also, they prefer them to be mostly "leather-like" material and not mesh like some running shoes have. They sell shoes at wardrobe for about $22, which can be deducted from your first paycheck or paid cash. I have never bought them, but people I know who have said they were pretty comfortable; they just look like a white casual-athletic shoe.
The wardrobe shoes are pretty horrible. They weren't uncomfortable but they got DESTROYED by the end of the summer.
I guess im going to have to figure out what my wardrobe shoe requirements are, if they are any different because of where I'm working then if my shoes aren't right head to target or walmart for a pair of shoes and insoles. I'm working in Revenue Accounting and I have to wear a shirt and tie, thats why I'm thinking that I will have to wear different style shoes.
