2007 New Employees

Kiddy Kingdom isn't THAT bad! :)

2006 - Season Pass Holder
2006 - Blue Streak TL (processed out opening weekend)
2005 - Millennium Force/Kiddy Kingdom TL/maXair (Halloweekend Fridays)
2004 - Iron Dragon

-So how is processing in day? (if that's what you call it)

-I will probably start in the beginning of May, how does whole training day work out?

1. Processing in goes kinda like this:

A. Humen Resources (always the first stop)
B. Park Operations
C. Wardrobe
D. Company Training Office (secdule part 2 training)
E. Housing

You can make those stops in any order, but Human Resources is always the first stop.

2. You will train on your assigned ride at 8 a.m. the day following your processing in. Your part 2 training is usually sceduled within 1 week of your processing in (even though I didnt do mine for like 4 weeks), as long as you do it within 30 days your good.

If you want more details on processing in just PM me.

What's the earliest seasonal employees can begin?

Sometime in April I belive, I knew people who processed in as early as April 30th.

My first year I started on April 1st, and there were already others who'd arrived before me. I think the earliest some seasonal employees come in is mid- to late March.

The earliest you can really start is mid march. But thats mostly for like Merchandise, Foods, and I believe Park Services.

hi, drewk, i have a question...

what did we build this city on?

:)

Haha Drew posts on PointBuzz... wait a minute... so do I. Here's some advise that I have after a season's experience: As Drew said, it's the people that bring you back ;) I happen to like the work, too. Guests that asked me how I like my job got this answer: It's pretty much the best minimum wage job you can have. I worked at Wicked Twister in '06 and plan on going back for '07, hopefully at Magnum. The only job I would want to have at CP would be ride ops... I just can't see myself doing anything else there. Live at Commons if it is at all possible. Cedars is pure ghetto and you'll end up spending most of your free time at Commons anyway. Commons is where all the action is at.

It's a fun job but at the same time it's not for everyone. About half the guys there are gay, so if you have a real problem with that, then you might want to rethink working there... or it may end up opening your eyes ;) If you have a car, then bring it! It's not completely necessary, but it's definitely nice to have. The only eateries within walking distance from Commons is a McDonalds and East of Chicago Pizza, which get really old really fast. Never agree to train at a ride that you don't "accidentally" want to get put at permenantly (i.e. Skyride). Don't believe your supervisors when they say it'll only be for a week. Never train at Skyride. Never train at Skyride. NEVER TRAIN AT SKYRIDE!!! It's pretty much the most terrible, labor-intensive ride to work at... and those 2,000-lb cabins come in every 9... yes, 9 seconds. Employees come and go from that ride every day it seems. They have a very tough time keeping people there, and if you agree to train there, plan on coming back A LOT - if not permenantly. I barely got away with being sent there permenantly a couple times.

Sometimes it's a good idea to do absolutely nothing on your day off. Just relax all day. Lay in bed. Watch TV. I know it's very tempting to spend your whole day riding rides, but a good day's rest will be much appreciated by your body :) You'll be working AT LEAST 65 hours a week. The most I ever worked was 75 hours in one week. I had some friends that exceeded 80 hours. And there isn't any overtime pay since CP is a seasonal operation. Go on some ESD trips. I went on the Kennywood trip with three frieds and had a blast, plus they're cheap. Don't get any operationals - be very careful your first few weeks as slipups are common amongst newbies. Your first operational is really no big deal, but if you get another one, you may be saying bye bye to your ride (or rides completely). Do all you can to complete your contract. It's nice to get a $700 check in the mail once you're done. Overall, it's a blast. The good and the bad times all come together and make it a truly great place to work for the summer. Hope some of this will help any people thinking about applying and I hope to see you there in '07!

WE BUILT THIS CITY ON ROCK AND ROLL!!!

if any of you work at raptor next year with me....you will understand then!!!!

Just one question can you request a zone or a ride to work or do they just assign them.

Yeah new year, and finally got my license, well back in august. Im in need of a trip to the park.

Are there many strait guys that work there? I know there has to be a few that worked there since I have heard (sp) of many people getting married from the people they met at CP. Also how is the shower situation, is it out in the open or do you get some privacy to take a shower?

JPS, there are straight guys there - from experience I'd say that the male population is about half gay, half straight. If you have never had a gay friend before, you'll have some by the time you leave. I think that most people leave with a new mentality on gays. If you're concerned about your privacy when it comes to showering, then make sure to live at Commons. Each bathroom has... I think 4 or 5 showers with individual stalls and fabric curtains. Cedars/Golds is, I believe, more "out in the open" (never showered there so I could be wrong). *** Edited 11/5/2006 7:56:41 AM UTC by Goliath255***

Privacy isn't really a problem in Cedars as long as you use the proper shower. The issue is more so the cleanliness. Those showers get to be disgusting around mid-season.

Make sure to bring a pair of shower shoes to use in the showers. Thats basically the best way to protect yourself if thats what your concerned about.
