12E....hmmm?

So this maybe a silly question but I've always wanted to ask a group of CP fans like yourselves what do you think the 12E on the side of the DT structure signifies? This is a question that I've pondered since it's origination. I'm assuming it has something to do with the theming of the "Dispatch Master Transport" experience and it still remains a very predominant visual aspect of the structure today. I've even gone as far as to ask John Hildebrandt in the Marketing Dept. this very question. He didn't have an answer and I believe he thought I was a little nuts!

The Amazement Park

They probably just picked some random number, and then a letter to accompany it.

I wouldn't expect some sort of Area 51 answer out of this if i was you.

At the Q&A during CoasterMania last year, someone asked if it was Mr. Kinzel's shoe size. I can't remember what their responce was.

Why does the building have "12 E" written on it? Well, there are about as many theories to that as there are Cedar Point employees. My favorite theory is that 12 E is the shoe size of Dick Kinzel, the park's CEO. So far, I've not heard Cedar Point management deny it!

That and from coastermania i have 2, yes 2 good theroies about 12E, but no one will ever know except Mr. Kinzel and the big shots at CP.

I just wondered if it had something to do with it being a 12th coaster and E was added as it was Modified as of 1990? I might be wrong.

Indy's back and just in time.

Maybe it is like a terminal number like Terminal 12 East. I dunno, that or the 12th coaster thing sounds good to me. It makes you wonder, I even once heard that down at disney the decoraters and builders put markings like numbers on the rides that mean something like a birthdate or something, maybe thats the case here. The world may never know.
Question- how the hell could of Disaster Transport(Avalanche Run) been the 12th coaster.

If my info is correct, it was the 8th coaster CP had when they enclosed it, to me, it will never be know, except the big shots at CP.

Lake Erie is an undefeated answer in my opinion.

The 12th letter is "l".

Maybe there's no mystery or conspiracy. Maybe it was just something randomly picked by ITEC Productions.

uhhh, Mantis was the twelvth coaster at CP, so I don't think that theory will work.

My theory is that it was just a random pick of numbers and a letter. nothing special here.

Also on Raptors break run their is 12E on one of the supports
If i was a big shot, their is no way I would put a random number up thier, I would make it a conspiracy.

Perhaps the famed 12E is found hidden on all of cedar points coasters (perhaps even every single ride). I like the Lake Erie theory.

I thought we covered this before. The 12E is a tribute to Cedar Point State Park in Clayton, NY.

Just by coincidence, Dick Kinzel grew up to run the amusement park whose namesake happened to be the State Park where he and his family spent many summers camping when he was growing up.

The 12E? Check out the directions to the park on the above link. The Park sits on NY Route 12E.

^^^So it could be like a hidden mickey sort of thing?

Carrots, handbags cheese toilets, russians, planets, hampsters, weddings, poets, Stalin, Kuala Lumpur, pygmies, budgies, Kuala Lumpur!

Actully one of the rumors I heard that sounded believable was that Disaster Transport is sitting on the spot of where the 12E section of the parking lot should be. I'll be sure to check on my next visit to see how true this is.
