Anyone at the park today?

I'd have gone to the park if I wasn't tired from work. :/ I miss riding roller coasters.

Also, who is Stan, exactly? Is he the one in the picture of him on PT?

Stan is Stan Checketts, the founder of S & S, which is the company that built Power Tower. And yes that is him on top of Power Tower. :)

Tony Clark tweeted about it once, which is the first time I ever saw that picture.

Just happened to build Skyhawk as well. :)

Was at the park yesterday afternoon and wow was it nice. Not super busy at all, everything was clicking, only gripe is still no Max Air!! Really enjoyed my visit even though it was only for about 6 hours! Love days like that, not super busy and nice out!

Just checked the webcams - another packed day at the park! Hope everybody has a great time and stays safe.

Just drove through the area, traffic still backed up on Cleveland Road as of noon.

Just looked the the webcams, looks like another 'rediculous' day there. The parking lot, as far as what's visible, looks full. Is MF down, nobody in the queues and haven't seen it run yet ? Post up from anyone that's there.

Some posts on Reddit claim at “capacity”, tollbooths turning cars away, 90 minute FLP lines, MilF and Mav down, lines for restrooms etc.

Nice weather plus a whole new batch of Gold SP FTW.

I would be inclined to think they aren't turning people away. I can only think of one time that has happened before, and they made a Twitter announcement. However, that being said, only an idiot that failed high school economics would make the observation that demand is higher than their supply, and decide to reduce the price of their product.*

*Cedar Point is selling the gold pass for less than 2019 when adjusted for inflation.

We went for just the last two hours before close and packed a lot in two hours. it was great.

Looking at webcam (none of the parking lot visible), a Sunday, great weather, food lines getting long, main midway very busy, looks like it's gonna be another one of those packed days.

I have a platinum but only been once, Coastermania, I would have liked to have gone a few times but I know I wouldn't have had an enjoyable day.

Queue-times shows BS-45 and Corkscrew-60 so a huge improvement over yesterday. Grab your keys everyone. 🤪

Good grief - what were the wait times for those yesterday?

Saturday. From my understanding this site picks up the same data the in-park app uses, which of course is questionable, but in aggregate gives decent picture of the situation. MF seems like an outlier.

A friend is at KI today and said everyone is redeeming their FL pass renewal bonus and the FL lines are out on the midway for Orion, Racer, FoF, Drop Tower.

^^^ thanks ! I don't have a smartphone so I can't see those sort of things.

Good gravy - who would stand in line for pushing 2 hours for Corkscrew? I hate to say it but I am glad that I have not wasted any time going to the park this year. Simply not worth it in my opinion.

A couple of people have mentioned the expected influx of new Gold Pass sales this year. Are those renewals or brand new sales? I could see renewals falling off some if people have had a bad experience this year, but maybe there are enough newbies who are buying new passes that they outweigh the non-renewers?

I have become somewhat obsessed with watching the Kings Island Diamondback web cam. I am amazed at how few people use FastLane at that park, well at least prior to today. I went back in June and it was walk-on city with my FL. It wasn't a crazy busy day but while everyone else was standing in line for 40 minutes to ride Orion while I simply walked up the steps and was directed to a seat still made it a very worthwhile purchase for me.

Why are the dynamics of that park so different from Cedar Point? Is it simply because KI is a much more local park, and the locals don't see the need to get FL?

To a large degree I support that premise. More people can make short visits and work around the weather, I was very surprised how a 3 hour storm delay did not significantly clear out CP the other day, KI would be walk on city. In fact many just stop in for free lunch or dinner and if time permits grab a ride or two. Not a bad happy hour stop. Have a mini-van full of kids? It’s like a really big McDonalds Playland but cheaper, might even be worth the $10 for preferred parking. Mason has grown since the park opened.

Seen many posts that the trick is to hit Soak City’s Island Smokehouse as it is the closest parking and shortest walk.

Also KI ride ops have overtaken CP’s throne.

A first time rider, it still looks fun. CP gets a lot of those.

Apparently an incident on Top Thrill happened where a rider was struck by metal debris / lot of blood. Anyone in park witnessed this?

I saw a video in a FB group of the Sandusky medics going down the midway in an ambulance. I heard a rider may have been struck by a piece of the ride. Don't know exactly what happened. It's all speculation until we hear something official. But in that same group, there was also apparently another incident where there was a fight in TTD line earlier today for someone line jumping.

In addition to big crowds and long ride and food lines, this is also an issue that is caused by $99 Gold Passes
