Melt bar and grill open

When the wife and I where there in July we ate at MELT and we loved it. They told us 30 min wait but it was more like 10mins, food was amazing, great beer selection, the service could have been a little faster but it was by no means the worst I have experienced at a sit down. Seem to be little seating room for how large the space was, but besides all that I will deff eat there again the next time we visit the park.

I've never had bad service a Panda Express, it seems to run just fine. And Chick-fil-A, I believe, didn't even have CP employees working there, I think the entire thing was run by an outside franchisee. I don't know if the problem people are experiencing at Melt is a Melt issue or CP issue, all I know is that I've had long waits and less then stellar service at both Melt Cleveland Hts. and Melt Mentor. I've been in the CP location twice, sat at the bar each time, and the food came out fairly quickly and was good. Both times it was closer to closing time so that may make a difference in the food coming out quicker. I've noticed however that service at the bar at any restaurant tends to be a bit better as the bartender is always there and you are not at the mercy of the wait person being attentive to your table.

Speaking of Chick-Fil-A... When we went to Kings Dominion they had a CFA there. We had never been to one, we were surprised that the menu consisted of Chicken Nuggets, Chicken Sandwich, and Waffle Fries. That's it. 3 items. I'm pretty sure the real world locations aren't like that. Was Cedar Point's CFA so limited, too? If so, good riddance.

Agreed, especially for the volume they handle.

If I have to sit at a bar to get better service than there is a far bigger problem with the restaurant.

Regardless, and from these forums it's pretty clear, there is the half that after visiting many parks and chains we expect a little better from Cedar Point, and those of us who are and have been ok with how food services has been run.

I'm not expecting five star service, but while the park has made some incredible strides lately in areas that were previously neglected, food services is just too inconsistent to be ignored...no matter if you sit at the bar or not.

I've had long waits at the Akron location but that's because all the tables were actually being used. There is absolutely no excuse to have a 45 minute wait and less than half the tables being used.

So if you're down to two servers, your going to make each of them run 20 tables at a time? Good luck.

There's no excuse to have only 2 servers either, which is the cause of the whole problem. But I was told the told it was because the kitchen was backed up, which I think they were just giving BS. They need to schedule staff accordingly. If they don't have enough staff to run the place, I would rather they just close it that day. They should cross-train food staff at all locations so they can be placed accordingly. Or call in staff from other Melt locations and send them to the CP location that day.

^Regarding cross-trained staff -- I know that the staffing problems tend to be much more pronounced at the beginning and end of the season. In mid to late May, we went to the park and ate at Johnny Rockets. It was an extremely long wait. Eventually we got a table and it took a very long time to get served. The waiter told us about 10 different times that it was his first day there and that he was just filling in from Chickie's & Pete's. He got the order wrong, it took forever to get our food, and he also got the bill wrong - which had to be re-entered.

Different establishments have different systems (I don't know about the food stands and kiosks), but I think it is a bad idea to cross train food staff -- at least across the franchised food establishments...

I mean how many ways can you make chicken into fast food? lol Its really only chicken strips/ nuggets and variations of a chicken sandwich.

When I was at Hershey park in July, their Chik-Fil-A was about a 45 min wait... we gave up after 5 mins

I say get rid of the IROC idiots because CP has always done just fine with ride operations on their own and bring in some food consultants that know what the heck they're doing because CP has been struggling there for a long time.

Good news my friend, there's one in Greece currently being built. The menu is bigger at normal locations, I'm very excited about this because they make the best chicken sandwich compared to any other chain. I won't find myself driving out there to grab dinner but on my various carpet jobs I'll be near the damn place!

A couple months ago I was helping my mom move to the Boston area and they happen to have a CFA out there and I was back in love. Before that, it was only CP where I got to enjoy the place. Hopefully they are successful out here and one will be built on the east side :)

I ate at CP Melt on 9/10. Lots of empty tables, but, extended wait. I sat at the bar and service was ok, not great. Melt's kitchen looks too small from what I could see. After I ate, I visited the Main Kitchen. Melt's kitchen is a newly walled off portion of the Main Kitchen. I could not see inside, but, just seeing the walls I could tell it was small. Melt, outside of CP, gets good reviews, but, I was unimpressed. Ratio of bread to contents was WAY too high. No choice of bread either. Boo!

Hopefully they can get the kinks worked out in the off-season. From what I recall, the deal dindn't become official until February and they opened in May. That's only 3 months to prepare. Hopefully they can look at what was wrong this year and fix it next year.

The sole reason my husband won't go to Melt is because they offer white bread only. You'd think that with a menu like a phone book they could figure out a way to store a loaf or two of wheat or whole grain bread and offer that as a choice.

Really? Seems like that in this day and age a variety of bread choices would be a given, and especially in a place with a gigantic menu.

Too thick bread slices was always a criticism I had of Melt. In addition to the bread, they serve mostly high fat, high calorie food that is really not good for you. I don't go to Melt very often, either on or off CP, but when I've been there I just get the kindergarten. All of the other sandwiches are just loaded with way to much fat and calories, really just glorified greasy bar food.

Ok, fair enough. But how many ways can Red Robin serve a cheeseburger? Yet look at their menu. It doesn't consist of Cheeseburger, Turkeyburger, and Fries. CFA menu was literally 3 lines. Chicken Sandwich, Chicken Nuggets, Waffle Fries.
