We just had a local who is a supervisor in some capacity at Cedar Point come in to our Sandusky office to pay rent on her apartment. I didn't speak with her myself, but apparently this person told my co-worker that there are a lot of former CP foreign workers who were unable to get their work visas renewed (which may or may not be the result of our new President's policies depending on which side you believe) and that the park might be short staffed as a result of this. I don't personally know this to be true, so take that with a grain of salt, but if true I wonder how that might impact the park and the local/regional work force's opportunities.

(I know my Cedar Point working days are over). I realize that it's never as easy as it seems, but couldn't CP just hire more people who are from the United States (Michigan, Ohio, PA, etc)? I mean, there will always be a college student who would like to make a little bit of money this summer.

At my business, we have been trying to hire people since before Christmas. Young people either have extremely limited availability, so their usefulness is limited, or they only want >20 hours per week. The people we have hired have barely covered the people leaving, so we haven't seen much growth in staffing. I can only imagine an area further from the city would have a much harder time finding the proper staffing.

You would be surprised the amount of people that apply and are denied employment because they are not competent for the positions. A fairly significant amount. The solution is not to just hire more people here. Believe it or not, a large amount of people are not fit for the job. They have trouble filling positions as is.

You would be surprised how many people don't want a job at all over taking a seasonal job. Hiring foreign employees isn't done at Cedar Point because it's cheap, it's done because they know they can get people who will actually work.

Yeah, when I was in college, CP jobs were really the cream of the crop. They probably still are, but people just don't want to work. Very sad things have progressed.

God forbid they should have a tattoo.

They are building a new IKEA in my city and they say the opening will be delayed. They need 300 people to staff the place at opening and can't find them.

One of the biggest reasons is they can't pass the drug test. A major problem in this country.

I've tried recruiting friends both last year and for this year, and most of them don't want to work that many hours, not realizing that the pay really adds up.

A large percentage of young people want the paycheck without working.

I'd LOVE to work at CP, it's something I've wanted to do for ages. The only thing holding me back is, heh, my current job. They aren't really keen on letting me take the summer off to work somewhere else. :P A shame too, because every year I go I get mistaken for an off-duty employee, even by other employees.

Maybe it's my cheerful, accommodating disposition. Or that I know way more about the park than the average guest. XP

Just a quick question, are we supposed to have received a housing contract to fill out or do we do that the day we process in? I remember receiving a pretty long document where I stated how I wanted to be paid and a bunch of questions about my taxes, but I never received anything after that.

You will receive a separate email from Starrez after your background check has gone through. If it's been more than 2 weeks since submitting it, or if your process in date is approaching, I would suggest calling housing about it.

At the moment I'm not 18, I turn 18 in May and it won't let me submit a background check because it says they're not required for people under 18. Is there a way I can request Cedar Point to open the background check page on my job account?

Your best bet is to contact HR directly to ask.

Hi everyone! This will be my second season working at Cedar Point. My first season,2015, I was lucky enough to work Millennium Force with an amazing crew. Due to schedule conflicts, I wasn't able to return to rides last year, and this year I'm trying something totally new.

I will be a guest services associate, interacting with guests at the guest services building, but I hope to be leading VIP tours, too!

I can't wait to be back! I hope everyone has a great season, and I'll see you all at the Point!

I'm Jacob and I am a second year food & beverage associate. I worked half of my first season at CJ's Provisions and the second half at Coaster's Drive-In. I will be working at Coaster's Drive-In this summer.

PS- We food and beverage people do not suck. Yeah, we don't get the rights to say that we operated Millenium Force or Dragster. But we are still a fun clan.
