Best location for a relocated Ripcord...

Anything going over the water just seems very unlikely... although, it would be pretty cool.

^^ As long as it's not lagoon water in the middle of the park, fine.

Great pics Jason, but wow, they went to town on demo already. That's alot of work already. There's a ton left, but they're already gutting things and ripping em apart. Seeing that means they need all this time to get it ready for next season though. I can't wait to see how it looks next season.

I think this would be a great opportunity to get Ripcord in the paint shop. A bright red, yellow or blue would look great I think.

Surprisingly, having flyers go into an inaccessible location is not unheard of; for example, there's a Skycoaster in Blackpool, England (an hour north of Liverpool) that swings out over the ocean from a pier:

Videos online show that it's been around since at least 1997, and based on its structural similarity to Kennywood's Skycoaster (which was actually the first park installation in 1994), I'd hazard a guess and say it's even older than our 1996-model RipCord. Also, there is the Royal Rush Skycoaster near Colorado Springs, Colorado, which swings out over a 1,250 ft. canyon:

It sure is fascinating to see so many variations on the same concept, and I think putting RipCord over the water would certainly be a novel idea. However, there's a bit of a problem; if Cedar Point decides to go this route, loose articles will definitely be an issue if/when they fall into the lake! LOL

There's one at Indian Beach park over the 'lake', it's not the great idea you think it is.

^I agree that it's not a great idea; indeed, several of the sites discussed in this thread would likely be far better for business than a lakeshore location. I guess it's more of an interesting idea; not great, just interesting.

I didn't even know they had rides at Indian Beach. ;-)

That's where Ripcord is headed for retirement. It looks very peaceful.

Darien Lake's Skycoaster (called Red Hawk, and no it isn't red) hoists you up over Fun Lake (really just a big green mud puddle) and then you swing out over the midway. You get a good view of some pretty big carp from up there!

With Ripcord being dismantled, has their been site clearing over where Shoot the Rapids once stood? To me this seems like the best spot even though I would prefer another water ride manufacturer to come in, in the future.

Shoot the Rapids plot of land is too precious to waste on relocating Ripcord. I hope they find something else. Perhaps the current Dino Island could house Ripcord.

I think the Sports Force Park is where it would fit best. If it has to be in the park, then I think the spot behind Pink's as suggested earlier in this thread would be the best fit. If none of those options, then I vote for the scrap yard.
