Best location for a relocated Ripcord...

^ and ^^ Couldn't agree more with both of you. Anyhow, these are the latest tallys of your votes on a possible relocation site of RipCord after almost 5 weeks of polling on here. I'm pretty positive the park knows about this thread but they do have the final say in the future home of Ripcord. So without the results changing much, here are the current totals:

CP Decision makers please consider these stats:

1. Relocation to Sports Force Park for 2017.....25% (please re-paint if you do!)

2. Gone for good at the SCRAPYARD...............23%

3. Area between Ocean Motion and Pink's........16%

4. The lagoon area (Dino Island or old STR site...............12% (this could be 8% to 4% w/BOTH combined)

5. Current Point Pavilion area............................11%

6. Between Gemini and Slingshot.........................6%

7. Current Matterhorn area..................................4%

8. The CP BEACH................................................3.5%

Thanks for your suggestions everyone, hopefully we'll have an answer soon on the future site!

I say "SCRAPYARD". The Ripcord will take too much space in the Park. They could move it to the Sports Force Park.

The problem with any voting on a location is not knowing what any of their other expansion plans are. Get me a copy of their 5-year plan so I can make an informed decision. :-)

I'd ask for the five year plan for Michgan's Adventure so I cloud find a place for it there, but I'm pretty sure there isn't one.

Michigan's Adventure already has one that is thirty-seven feet taller.

Cedar Fair is, these days, certainly, a well run business. There is a five year plan in place for all the parks. Michigan's Adventure does very well and needs little investment to continue to do so.

They have a 217 foot model?

MiA's website boasts a 180' freefall.

https://www.miadventure.com/things-to-do/thrill-rides

Using the wayback machine, you can see CP's site claims a 15 story launch tower, which in the PR department would equate to 150'

https://web.archive.org/web/20150905112823/https://www.cedarpoint.c...rk/RipCord

So there's where the 30' difference likely came from. Exactly which models each park has, I do not know.

Hmmm.... Sounds like it might just be the wording because most places will advertise the total height of the main arch/a-frame. Cedar Point has the 180' model which is the most commonly used one.

I just used the numbers from Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skycoaster

Cedar Point's is listed as "Challenge Park" under the defunct list.

Cedar Point's model was a 152' launch tower, 175' flight tower (arch).

I was just on the Sports Force Park website. I hadn't realized they were going to have miniature golf, trampolines and a ropes course. Now I'm in the group of people who say to send Rip Cord to SFP.

CP Rundown just shared this photo of some construction equipment over in the former STR land. Hopefully this means nothing, but I hope it's not Ripcord's new home.

Anyone know if they're tearing up the concrete and removing it too? Still find it sad to see it go, but looking forward to what they do in that spot. Hopefully they keep that observance area where you can walk or sit down. That area is pretty cool.

I was at the park yesterday, and it appeared that Ripcord has already been repainted.

Same color? I was hoping for a new, bright color scheme

It was the same color. But definetly looked like new paint.

Nobody answered me yet. Fudge!

The 'new' color paint is almost a dark putty color. Nothing eye popping.

Not very sports force park, unfortunately. (Holding out hope its going by Pink's and not in STR site. )

The raised observation area has been designated a smoking area this season. I did not see or expect any work on it while the park was still open.
Since it is on the wrong side of the tracks, I'd imagine it will stay as is.

Sadly, I think the new color would fit in well along the Frontier Trail, at least more than the previous grey paint. :( I'd love to say it ain't so, but I guess it's like Occam's razor: the simplest explanation is the one that's most likely true.
