Mean Streak, next to go??

As to the question of does a park need more than one woodie why does a park need more than one steel coaster? With the amount of coasters CP has it only makes sense to have more than one woodie. MS may be flawed but I'm still enjoying it and if they completely remove it I would want another hopefully better woodie in its place. It's a different experience than steel.

An argument against yours is that steel coasters provide a wider range of seating arrangements which it their strength IMO. I'm all for multiple woodies though.

Let's be real here, if cp put all steel rmc track on MS, atleast 95% of the gp would think it is a wooden coaster. Cp nor rmc care about your personal views on the definition of a coaster, definition of steel, wood, or hybrid, or the ratio of steel or wood coasters in the park.

They care about return on investment and if ghost rider and mantis happened then I bet something will happen to MS. I hope it is rmc but I bet they will bring in gci like they did with ghost rider.

The new management seems to be playing it safe with crowd pleasing coasters. That's my opinion of B&M anyway. So lets hope they step it up and have RMC do something crazy with Mean Streak instead of using GCI to put large band-aids on it.

If Lightning Rod at Dollywood works out well operation wise, perhaps CP would consider a launched lift hill. I don't think riders per hour would be an issue either, New Texas Giant is rated at up to 1600 riders per hour.

A lot will depend upon how Ghostrider turns out. If the work being done on it is successful in returning it to the ride as built, I can see GCI doing MS in the near future

rmc will be so smooth, but I wish CP would stick to wooden coasters. Most the coasters are steel and most coasters are catering to either the older teen/adult/coaster enthusiast types, or kiddie rides for 5 yr olds and toddlers. the park needs more in-between coasters for weaning adolescents who are not ready for rides like valravn, but they're too old to ride rides like balloon race or peanuts 500. Not to mention the height limit is high on many of the big rides.

they already removed wildcat, disaster, shoot the rapids, paddlewheel. All rides that kids 7-11 like to ride. (turnpikes is pretty much the same as cad cars and antiques.)

This! I think Cedar Point desperately needs something all members of the family can experience together. Something like Verbolten would be perfect, and of course another water ride and a dark ride.

Mean Streak just takes up SOOO much room, and there is a LARGE portion of the fan base that doesn't like it. I think you could probably take it out and create two rides that people would be satisfied with. Possibly one coaster and one family themed flat ride.

If only that "LARGE" portion of the fan base represented more than .0099% of the park's customers....

If MS were to go, I believe they would only add one coaster instead of multiple things. For example, many people drew up their ideas of what they thought was going in the GTT area (In another thread) and had like 5 different rides/games they thought were going to go there. But after the announcement, it's just one coaster with a connecting midway.

King's Dominion is keeping Hurler closed all season for a rehab, one can assume it's from GCI with the GhostRider project but there has been no official announcement on who is doing the work. It could just be a season long in house project. Have to be a little patient until more details are released.

That said, that would make 2 out dated and extremely rough wooden coasters in the chain to get some much needed TLC the past two seasons. Fingers crossed that MS is on the list to get some love soon. As always my vote is for RMC, even with a topper track re-profile over a full Iron Horse conversion I think they could breath a lot of new life into that ride.

I honestly didn't realize I was in the minority. Most people I talk to have great disdain for that ride. Heck, even a construction crew tried to burn it down a few years ago!

People tend to engage with people who share their interests. No one I know supports Donald Trump, but it's pretty likely he'll be the Republican candidate for president. It's likely that people you talk to share your disdain for the coaster.

We're roller coaster fanatics. We should get extra credit for use of the word, "disdain".

Well I support both Donald Trump AND a rehab on MS ;)

The line, or the lack thereof, speaks loudly for the general publics disdain for MS. much like the Hurlers, MS is avoided on every visit.

Well, considering my English teacher (that knows little about theme parks and probably doesn't go to Cedar Point very often) used mean streak in an example sentence for dilapidated, and advocate (saying she "advocates for the destruction of the ride), I'm pretty sure that the GP has a great disdain for the ride, too.

Thank goodness. I rode that ride back in 2012 and I thought it was worse than Mean Streak. I could tell no one liked it too because there was never a line for it. With that, it seems like Cedar Fair is playing the waiting game before they get on the rmc band wagon.

You take away that she reflects the opinion of the general public. I take away that someone in a classroom setting ("example sentence") in the presence of someone she (presumably) knows to be a coaster enthusiast and a Mean Streak disdain-er knows her audience.
