There are coasters I don't particularly care for, but will still give them a courtesy lap once or twice a season. Both for the "might as well, it's here" and the "just in case next time it isn't here" factor.

Still makes no sense to me. Why do something you do not enjoy? If you don't enjoy a ride, who cares if it's not there next time. You didn't enjoy it to begin with, why would it bother you if it were gone?

Maybe there is still some enjoyment there, but it is minimal compared to the excitement provided by other rides?

Still... why not re-ride those other rides?

I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.

It's not like I "hate" the rides. And there are some I don't do because I legitimately don't enjoy them. For example, maxAir makes me moderately nauseous and I don't enjoy it - I haven't ridden it since 2005 and I can't imagine a scenario where I ever would again.

Corkscrew, on the other hand, bangs my head around a good bit and isn't very comfortable. If I never rode it again I would hardly be upset. But it was my very first ride at Cedar Point on my very first visit, and it makes me nostalgic from when I was younger and it was a "major" ride for me. And it also makes me nostalgic for my beloved Double Loop at Geauga Lake. So once a year or so, when it is a walk on, I give it a courtesy ride. I don't particularly love it but I am always glad I did it at the end. Same with rides like Mine Ride and Iron Dragon. They aren't at all favorites and if I never rode them again I would be fine. But once in a while it is nice to do them. I haven't had the desire to just power ride the same thing since I was a teenager, I get much more fulfillment now doing everything once, maybe twice and just enjoying my day.

Last edited by Cartwright,

I wish they would put open trains on Iron Dragon, but only if they could get the ride height down to 46" again. I don't think MS will be torn down just refurbished. I believe that Corkscrew will be next coaster to go but will be replaced with a coaster that interacts with the midway in a similar way (flyer). I think CCMR is also on that list but will stay around longer cause it is a good family ride even though it is a little bumpy.

They could lower ID's height limit all the way to 42" if they wanted. The 48" limit has nothing to do with the train design, just an overenthusiastic, but caring safety department.

I wouldn't brag too much, lest the Coaster Gods view it as hubris and give us a used Vekoma.
