Those are commonly referred to as "Sonotubes." They're economcial cardboard forms for concrete. Sonotube is a manufacturer, but there's several, as the ones shown there are another brand.

They're molds for footers, but I kind of doubt they're for any part of the ride, possibly for a lamp post or something.

Great pictures. This might sound dumb but whats going on down in the pit.

Do the larger footers mean anything other than having to support larger supports/more weight. Also, does it look like it's collecting water down there as well? Just my two cents.

Those footers aren't any larger than the ones that are completely covered to the top. They just look larger because they are exposed.

As for the water collecting, there will be a large amount of water collecting there soon enough. I guess i'm the first to notice the green piece of PVC sticking out of the left bank to be used to fill the pond there.

I agree with you loopy, I think there's going to be a pond there because it probably would have been filled in right now and that pipe being their gives it away.

The "bridge" that they use to get equipment back and forth for the supports/footers looks to me like it may be dug out when they are all done, thus creating a larger "pond".

I went On a 2 day trip august 1st and 2nd and was amazed. Looking at the pictures you dont acutually get a good idea of how large the area actually is, when I was there in person the footprint looked huge.

I will also say that this might be one of the most scenic coasters at the point. The spots next to the lake are gorgeous, add some tress and voila, a beautiful ride.

Wow.. $50 a flight. I figured it was more like $300-400. Do they let you pay $100 for a 40 minute flight?

Although 20 minutes would probably be pretty sufficient.

Hmm. I wasn't expecting it to be that cheap.

20 minutes is more than enough, if you're just shooting Cedar Point.
