Lift type and location?

I thought it would be good to make a specific post about the lift, since there's so much speculation about everything in the other threads.

So, what does everyone think the lift will be on this coaster? Also, where do you think it will be?

I saw an "illegal" picture on another site that showed a cirlcle of some BIG footings over by the train station. These aren't just footing bases, but the rebar on top is in a big circle! So, I'm thinking they might use a SPIRAL lift system on this ride. If they're using the WWL station, they can load it on a curve, so why not lift it on a curve? Saves a lot of space.

What do you all think? We're JUST talking about the lift and its location here.

I was wondering the same thing.

If I had an airplane, I would fly over the sight numerous times and take one of those satellite pictures and plot the footing points and go from there.

after looking at walt's new amazing pics, i think i might change my mind. there's an awful lot of stuff going on behind the old carousel building. but, it still doesn't appear to be very long. even magnum has a lengthy lift hill.

now i'm just all kinds of confused. :)

Why not launch?

AquaTrax use lifts, and by the look of AA, it does a turn with one central support, with other supports coming from that supports holding it up.

Kinda like IJST's Helix...

What about the possibility of having a short regular lift at the beginning of the ride and then an "all of a sudden" LIM launch in the middle?

Based on what it takes to get a typical lift hill to 310 feet (see MF and 45 degrees), and the speculation that project 2007 will be 500 and the smaller site it's being built on, I'd like to see a slow 90 degree acent up a 500 foot tower, gaining a ton of potential energy and then..............who knows?

Hummm... 90 degrees up huh? Sounds like another name of a ride in the park... hummm. What is that ride? I wouldn't know, it's never open so I rarely get to ride it.

Who says there needs so be a lift? What if they had more than one launched section? What if the second launch was faster than the first?

I hate how people assume that because ''it'' Launch's it'll have Downtime...

i agree with screamomatic... not every ride that has a launch will have down time. ive been to the park on days where wt and ttd didnt have any down time, unless i was away eating lunch or somthing.

I've said in another forum that other than TTD and KK, Intamin's rocket coasters are having very few problems.

I dunno... last time I was at Knott's they had a bit of trouble with Xcelerator. And Hershey's Storm Runner had some down time as well on my only visit last year. Maybe bad timing on my part?

I just thought I'd bring in the idea of the new ride being a prototype. Dennis from Xtremecoasters is strongly confident in that this WILL be an Intamin prototype of some sorts.

why cry about downtime?

I actually found that very same site last fall and thought it might be something for this year. 8 months later, and still no pictures...

1) http://www.xtremecoasters.com/

2) because that's all people think of when they think of Dragster (as well as all rockets).
