Lift type and location?

Have there been any more areal shots? I bet they would tell quite a story now!

Yeah, how about it Walt. Gonna take a ride in that Piper 28 anytime soon?:)

My goal is to have new aerial shots within the next week or two.

I was out at the park today and it appears to me that the footers directly behind the Frontier Inn will be for transfer track. There is a section of footers there that are all in a straight line and all about 3-4 footers wide, with some being square footers for I-beams that are commonly used for transfer tracks. It could also be for a station, but I find that to be a weird spot for a station. The number of footers is truly amazing, and even if this ride is not very big, I am sure that it will be of pretty good length. I think the biggest mystery is what that giant hole in the middle of the site is for. Walt's pictures in a week or two will be very interesting.

Splashdown for an Aquatrax maybe? Hmmm....

Take care and God bless!

It's not big enough really and it would be in a bad spot if they wanted observers to see it easily. I think it is either for a tunnel or for an extremely large footer or group of footers. So many more footers have been completed since the 4/9 aerial pictures that I'll be interested to see how this hole fits in to the pattern of footers.

I just really don't want to see another rocket. Honestly, I just don't find them as interesting as a traditional life coaster. Why? how long is the ride time on TTD? 15 something seconds. How long on Xcelerator? 62 seconds. I would rather have a traditional 2 something minute long ride with the fun of riding up the lift hill, than being on a ride for 1 minute and not feeling like it was at all worth waiting in what will be an ungodly long line.

Also, going up the hill and looking down everywhere, gives a great thrill.

Lettuce, I could not agree with you more. The potential station and transfer track, the large footer in the middle, and ride length. I think this may be a very long ride - possibly the longest and highest inverted. I don't think the site is big enough for a 400+ foot ride without one wild lay-out.

Can't wait for the aerials as well.

I don't think that either of those mentioned would be a very practical thing for Cedar Point to build.

Since when does Cedar Point do anything practical? :)

They find the upkeep of their rides rather practical.

Since they've been, and want to stay, in business. ;)

I wouldn't consider a 420 foot, 15 second, record breaking rocket coaster practical, however that didn't exactly help them stay in business. ;)

Now that the aerial pictures are up, and we can speculate the first drop will be around the curved set of footers - any guesses on the lift type or height?

From another thread:

I have a new theory... the parallel lines of footers are the station/transfer area... The train will lift out of the station towards Mean Streak, go up maybe 150' and have a banked first drop similar to Raptor (not inverted obviously)... the curved set of larger footers seems to support this...

I like that idea.

Also, I made a little sketch in paint or that idea that looked pretty good, but I couldn't figure how to upload it in photobucket; it kept on auto-resizing the image for me. If anyone could help me with that, please give me a PM.
