Lift type and location?

Does anyone know capacity figures for Atlantis Adventure?

With those single cars it juist seems like it would be a very slow line mover...

The Ball Coaster rumor is unlikely, not because of the track shape, but because of the layout. Intamin showed 3 designs for Ball Coasters when they unveiled it, and all 3 of them were in one vertical plane, like an S&S Screamin' Squirrel. This coaster is clearly not. Plus, Ball Coaster cars only hold 8 people, and I just can't see Cedar Point installing a low-capacity coaster.

Aquatrax, Wingwalker, Sitdown looper, Intamin flying coaster prototype that nobody knows about, whatever. About all you could rule out is a shuttle coaster, a hyper/giga, and an accelerator with a large tophat. Any other Intamin design is just about as likely as the next.

Josh, if they were running 2 trains my guess would be around 200 an hour. So, yes, it would be a slow line mover at that pace.

It's a 4:30 long ride, and you have to figure in load and unload time so I would guess around a total of 5 mins for each car to turn over, maybe a bit more.

I really have no clue how many trains they can run at once though but you can see a round about figure.

I would seriously doubt CP would install something like this unless it was on a MUCH larger scale. *** Edited 5/15/2006 10:58:49 AM UTC by Loopy***

They use individual boats that hold aproximately 10 guests per boat and I would guess that there would normally be about 5 boats out on the circuit, which would up the capacity a bit.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

From looking at the site myself, it occured to me that if they were going to have a 500 ft coaster the best way would be to have an elevator type lift- roll the train onto a track that lifts straight up and stops at the top. Then the train could simply roll out and down the drop. The site may seem big, but I don't think it could accomodate a 500 ft traditional lift and drop, even one as steep as Millenium Force.

HOWEVER- when I was there I spoke to several park men and all indicated, even though none were privy to the details of the project, that whatever it is will be huge. One stated that he knows of markings and some work done elsewhere, and indicated the area around and behind Mean Streak. So if it were to travel behind there and turn around there might be room.

I vote for an innovative lift, though. (please, God, not another launch) I think Cedar Point plans to break many many records with this one.

Well, keep in mind that the ball coaster was just a prototype. Why wouldn't they be able to do something different with a new one?

So I was playing RCT3 this afternoon and came accross some sort of odd "game" coaster. It was called a Thrill Lift. Basically, the train moved out of the station onto a brake run where it was held in with brakes...then an elevator type of lift moved that entire piece of track (train and all) up a straight hill (like an elevator) and then moved it vertically so that it would be lined up with a 90 degree track going down. When the train got to the top it froze for a second and then the brakes released and the train went through the coaster. I was wondering if this was just some sort of crazy game coaster or if this is something that could eventually lead to a seriously high ride in a small amount of space. Personally, I think it is just an idea and a crazy one at that, but what do you guys think? Could this be the prototype lift for 2007??? ;-) *** Edited 5/15/2006 9:49:20 PM UTC by BPMCH02***

One possibility I came up with was that the lift goes out towards MF island. If you stand on the walkway between the pond and SRF and look towards SRF, there is a nice straight shot out to MF island. I wonder if the new lift will go over the walkway, between SRF and Skyhawk. There would be plenty of room.

No.

There were several markings on the "bridge" between the old swan pond and Snake River Falls which read numbers and then "dig." But I think it'd be unlikely that ehy'd build a lift that just went through the middle of the park like that...

What about the possibility of having a short regular lift at the beginning of the ride and then an "all of a sudden" LIM launch in the middle?

Yeah. Something like this. Then, maybe a trip out to Millennium island or something?

I still say it won't be any taller than Raptor, either. :)

The footers are around WWL's site right now, not MF island.

I'll begin to discuss the possibility of it going to MF island if footers around MF island show up. :) *** Edited 5/16/2006 2:56:47 AM UTC by Grovite18***

I never said there were footers out there. I was just sayin'....

However, there is some interesting stuff going on out there right now - like access roads and a lot of cleared out trees. Not saying there's a ride going out there or anything, but I'm just sayin'.

Ha, I saw one that was more than willing, and even wanted, to come over and do an interview with a camera crew on Media Day...

Heres my 2 cents.

1. "Ready for some serious sidewinding?"

I'm thinking lift hill somewhere around Raptors height followed by a series of inversions. That covers that.

2. "Theres a storm a brewin."

LIM or LSM section hidden under the station launching to 100 mph or so.

3. "Were going in a whole new direction."

After said launch track, a RITAesqe section going all the way over to Millennium Island. That sounds like a whole new direction to me. From what I saw this weekend, theres definetly new work going on on the island, especially in the "infield" of turn two. Theres a huge new pile of dirt in the middle of turn one and all new access roads including at least 3 clearing of trees on the outside edges of the island that could be used to connect makeshift bridges for construction equipement.

This should insure enough track length for the world's longest coaster.

I'm just putting "2 and 2 together" for a 2 part ride.

No ridiculing here... I would like to see some pics of this new "activity" over on MF Island... Ill have to check it out this weekend.

I saw the same thing. It appeared to me that it was just the dirt from the WWL property being put there and leveled out. The dirt from maXair and Skyhawk also made its way there. The only thing that's different is that it's been leveled out rather than just left in big piles.

Yeah, they just put that dirt from the WWL Site over there on Monday evening last week. My guess is that it's just an easy place to store it.

Ahhhhhh, that could explain it then.
