Cedar Point will have no log flume ride at all for the first time since 1962 next season. While WWL had canoes instead of logs you get the idea. While Snake River and TC are fun you have to be in a mood to be really soaked to really enjoy it. White Water Landing was a good ride and nicely themed. While I am old enough to remember the flume it replaced and was sad to see it go WWL was a good replacement. Is there any other major park that doesn't have a log or other similar ride. Oh well.
Talked last night to Hildebrandt about not having a flume ride and the possibility of a future one, even about taking parts of WWL to make a smaller version. His reply was, "I can't say anything."

I agree. CP will put in a water ride that will be something special. To all of you thinking 500' coaster, I think you've got some time to wait. It won't happen in Frontier Town.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Yea,
I wouldent be as upset about wwl leaving if they replaced it with another ride just like it, but with a smaller footprint. I like being able to go on a water ride like wwl, and not getting soaked....just a splash.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Yes, I am bummed about WWL. I was able to take both of my daughters on this year (3 & 4), as well as my wife. It made for a nice "family" ride, and the looks my kids gave and their "screams" of fun were priceless.
CP has, for the most part, made good decisions about their rides, and use of land. I just hope that there will eventually be a ride something like a log flume at CP. Until then I will settle for Waldameer's flume in Erie.
Beer and golf Thursday thru Monday, Cedar Point & beer, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Can you see One-Eyed-Willie from the top of Magnum?
Its very sad to see it go....it was defiently one of cp's better family rides.

I'm still distraught about WWL. I remember riding it when it first opened when I was six. It held no records, it wasn't fast, it wasn't tall, but it was fun. It had character and it was one of my favorites. I liked the Mill Race and Shoot the Rapids, but WWL was the best.
I got to ride it one last time on October 29th on my last visit of the season. I walked right on it despite a very crowded park. From what I heard, people were avoiding it because they thought they'd get wet. I understand the need to remove unpopular rides, but I'm going to miss it.
With the removal of WWL and the construction of Skyhawk, Frontiertown loses a chunk of its theme. A giant red-white-and-blue steel structure just doesn't cut it. I think the need for space is going to erode the novelty of Frontiertown to the point where it's just another generic midway.
I'll feel a little better if they put in another flume, and if it's frontier-themed and in Frontiertown, but I doubt a new ride will capture the essence of WWL.
Don't worry I think something really great will come in White Water Landings spot. Maybe it will be a water coaster like we've been talking about on here. I hope it is because I"ve never ridden one before and think it would be a great replacement for White Water Landing. For all we know they could be taken WWL out because of Mechanical problems all the time. Maybe it was hard to keep it running all the time. So maybe if another Flume replaces it, they'll have more modern pumps in it.
I agree, it shouldn't be too hard to fit in a flume somewhere else in the future. Its not RCT, but one could be built in and around TC, just a simple up, around, and down. That would be cool. *** Edited 11/2/2005 7:03:17 PM UTC by ejh1701***

Cedar Point ruined one of my favorite places in the park. The stream that is now occupied by TTD and midway. Skyhawk is damaging one of my favorite walks in the park. The trail between MF's tunnel and town hall. I would prefer the theme to go in the direction of something good such as Islands of Adventure. What I am getting is another Six Flags.
How is Skyhawk ruining the trail between MF's tunnel and Town Hall? (Also known as Frontier trail..) It's over beside Town Hall, between the exit of CCMR and the entrance of Snake. It's in Frontier Town, nowhere near the trail.
it's pretty much going into an area that's a dead-end right now. It will open that area up.

You're glad they don't have to rip out any trees for this?
Are you kidding?
Tree(s) were removed as of Nov. 1 for this project.
