I keep a back up of all my stuff, so if anything were to happen to my computer, I could be back exactly where I left off as soon as I pick up a new one.

KENSINGTON MICROSAVER NOTEBOOK LOCK. It has a 6mm thick cable that is 6ft long. The keys have Orange handles and are long flat keys like home keys instead of round like most Laptop Locks that are able to be unlocked with cardboard or pliers.

Model #'s - 64068,K64021F (Just make sure they have the Orange handle on it)

Here is a YouTube video about it that I found -

Correction : The lock in the video is the MicroSaver DS, the other orange keys are rounded but according to Kensington they are given the lock pro classification . The only thing bad about the DS model is that the cable isn't as thick.

SAFE Pro: Superior level security from Kensington. These locks are manufactured to industry standard requirements. The locks are tested by third party testing agencies for their ability to withstand attacks. Tests are conducted under stringent test conditions.

The DS model is given the Safe Premium classification.

SAFE Premium: Expert level security from Kensington. These locks are manufactured to exceed industry standards. The specialized locks are tested by multiple third party agencies under severe and critical test conditions. These locks are rated as the highest grade of notebook locks.

I decided not to get those because they could show damage to the side of my laptop over time. It's all about the look, I did pay more for it to be black and all. :)

Put the darn thing in your locker or in a toolbox chained to your bed!

FYI as of last week, there is still no WIFI....................

I found a footlocker at an army surplus store. I also got a bike lock so I can lock the footlocker to something in the room. I will be able to store quite abit of stuff in it. Plus I bought the best laptop lock that I could find.

I have an extra unused laptop lock that has the round key lock on it. Let me know if anyone needs one. I process in next thursday and can meet with you up there.

Craig...you seriously make me laugh..."Its all about the look, I did pay more for it to be black and all." Oh dear!! And yes, I have mine insured as well...also, I have all my stuff saved...so, if mine did get stolen...it would be ok...and yes, as Craig said...it doesnt matter if you put a lock on it or not...its still going to get stolen and they'll somehow manage to break it open.

The cable might not totally stop your computer from being stolen, but its a good first step to protecting it. Its just like staying you shouldn't lock your car door, since someone could still steal your car or stuff out of it if they wanted. All locks are just a deterant, but its better then nothing at all.

I have all my stuff backed-up, plus I have "LoJack for Laptops" installed on it and a staight key laptop lock. I still know that if someone really wants to steal it, they are going to, but I am still going to bring it and do all I can to protect it from being stolen.
