^While that's generally true, I consider WCO more on the "nice gesture" side of things. I doubt they get all that much publicity (especially in the years when they don't have huge new additions, but they still do it every year) and most of the ticket revenue goes to charity.
(And it's a very good nice gesture indeed.)
It's my understanding that all the ticket sales goes to the charity, not just most.
remember: no matter where you go... there you are.
^Ok, wasn't totally sure. So yeah, WCO qualifies as a very nice event more than a purely business-based event. Which is good - big corporations that are doing well don't have to (and shouldn't) be robotic entities that only react to their money. WCO is an example of a corporation not being like that, which is a good thing.
ALL the proceeds have ALWAYS went to a childrens charity. Used to be Give Kids The World in Florida, now it's A kid Again in NE Ohio. Either place looks like they do fabulous things for kids. We looked up and read about each place. They each do great things for sick kids and their families.
Each year the park announces how much is raised,...it's amazing to me the amount that is donated each year...and every cent is said to go to A Kid Again.

What does Dragster have to do with Winter Chill Out?
Nothing.
The point was that Tony Clark has about as much fault when TTD goes down as he did when the WCO ticket issues occurred. But since we gotta blame someone who is personally blameless, it might as well be Tony, right?

Tony Clark should have tested the system prior to 12:00 midnight.
Again, he was the head person in charge at Cedar Point overseeing the event.
He failed to do that.
I don't understand why some people on this board feel that since they post on Pointbuzz that they are entitled to special benefits, meaning being part of any special events related to the opening of Steel Vengeance.
Wow I posted that Cedar Point is awesome, so I should be on the ride 1st.
Don't think so.
As for Rusty,
No one knew when the issue was going to be resolved, people have lives and commitments to their families and jobs. People went to bed frustrated at the situation at hand. They went to get the tickets at the stated time and were not able to because of an error. What error, we do not know, that is just speculation on our parts, but the individual overseeing this entire event, Tony Clark, is responsible for the event, therefore he needs to be called out on the mistake.
When we were told that the tickets would go on sale at 12:00 midnight eastern standard time, we the public have the right to expect that this would happen without incidence.
It didn't, those affected should get in contact with Cedar Point and Tony Clark and explain their situation. Cedar Point and Tony Clark should look at each case individually and make those people whole.
It is only right.
If I went on at 12:01 and the tickets were sold out, then they were sold out. The issue with this situation is that you could not even purchase the tickets.
Again, some people are not as smart as others and could not figure out the special code to put in "WCO2018", so they should be penalized.
No
All this did was upset a lot of people that were playing by Tony Clark's and Cedar Point's rules and they did not live up to their rules.
Now they need to be held accountable for that.
C'mon man. We're talking about a 15-minute minor technical issue here, for a small off-season tour. And what "rules?" The "rules" were that the first 100 people to buy tickets would be admitted. That happened. Even if tickets did go on sale right at midnight, there would still be the same number of people who didn't get them. At the end of the day, this isn't exactly the super bowl. And presumably if this event was truly that important to someone, they waited the 15 minutes until the issue was resolved. Not exactly an eternity.

Seriously though, this bickering about how this all turned out needs to stop. This is no longer an event for enthusiasts. It's a charity event that allows the public to come into the park. Stop acting like this is an event that needs to pander to enthusiasts because we have Coastermania for that. And even that has been affected by high attendance numbers and entitled enthusiasts.
This event couldn't fit the high number of people that wanted to go......that's just life. There was going to be some upset people regardless of some kind of increase of attendance. It's up to those people to act like grown adults and move on. You will get more opportunities in the future to attend events like this. Be better prepared next time.

I thought I had seen it all. Now we have an entitled jerk acting like a dick who DID get tickets. Meanwhile, those of us who waited until morning are bummed, but life is clearly going on.
Also, he keeps talking about how Tony needs to make us "whole". I didn't realize I am only going to be a partial person now since WCO sold out before I got a ticket. I guess I should have had an extra cup of stimulant on Monday night and stayed up. Live and learn.
Just Coasting, you are being absolutely ridiculous. That said, they are not going to cancel future events because of some people making ridiculous statements and assumptions on a fan site or social media. If you are so butt hurt by not getting Chillout tickets you need to examine your priorities in life.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Coastermania has not been “affected by entitled enthusiasts” — we don’t count, remember? Coastermania is paid because the park wants to increase revenue. Period. But on the same note, yes, they certainly should invite us enthusiastic fans to preview SV at media day. Let’s make that happen.
I'm not that jaded that I believe that Coastermania is a paid event because of the minimal amount of revenue they get from it. I think it is a paid event because it became a zoo and they wanted to bring it under control.
As far as enthusiasts at media day, well judging by the behavior of a few on here dealing with Chillout disappointments, enthusiasts have no business at a media day event.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Summation:
Coast - did not get a ticket to WCO and thinks he/she is entitled to a Steal Vengeance media preview. Also, Coast believes they have 'Power of the Customer'.
Just Coasting - has a ticket but believes CP should own their technical glitch. He/She also thinks CP should provide a ticket to those who didn't receive one initially. Additionally, they want to lay blame squarely on the shoulders of the Director of Communications.
All of this complaining about 'being owed', 'they need to own their mistake', 'customer powers', and blaming Tony will not change the outcome one iota.
If both of you feel that strongly then vote with you wallets/purse and don't patronize this business. Yes the solution is actually that simple.
I never claimed to be entitled to a ticket to WCO. I feel entitled to an invitation to media day. I feel all enthusiasts are entitled to that since we will create a solid buzz on social media.
^That's going to happen whether it be on media day, or a few days later when the general public (including enthusiasts) get to ride it. And no, we're absolutely not entitled to go on Media Day. It's called media day, and not enthusiast day, for a reason.

Alright just coasting, quit bitching. You can’t honestly act like your the only one with lives and families and jobs. Also don’t act like it was some huge long inconvenience for you. I had my tickets bought and printed by 12:08 it’s not like it was an hour downtime it was like a 5 minute thing. As for staying up late do what most people did and set an alarm. If it was really important to people who didn’t get a ticket they would have hung around the extra 10 minutes but they didn’t so quit bitching, learn your lesson, and next time they will stay up and get their tickets. You can’t take this out on other people just because your some triggered coaster boy who thinks the park owes everyone who didn’t get a ticket. Everyone who didn’t get a ticket accepted and learned a lesson . The park does not owe anyone anything get over yourself. If you actually have a ticket you shouldn’t be this mad it wasn’t this massive website failure you claim it to be and no one else is bitching about it.

You keep using the phrase "made whole". But I am not sure that you understand what that actually means. Nobody was guaranteed a ticket. Nobody who didn't get a ticket paid out any money for that unavailable ticket. HOW do you propose to make someone whole who did not spend a dime? Staying up past midnight is not a compensable action. There is nothing and no one to be made whole.
If I pay for a ticket and then don't receive it, I need to be "made whole". If I try to get a ticket and fail (even if it is due to something out of my control) I am bummed out beyond belief, but I haven't spent any money and I have not lost anything so I cannot be "made whole".
