Winter Chill Out 2015

Yes I remember, but I'm not sure when that drawing will be.

I wonder how many have lost those tickets already... It's a miracle that mine isn't lost in a pile of papers yet.

Anyway, this was a great charity event that I hope to do again! There was an odd peacefulness throughout the park, watching the snow fall on the coasters. Thanks to all the CP staff for volunteering their time and resources!

I thought they just called or emailed you if you won. But if I win, someone can take my place. I'm not that excited to ride Rougarou at 5AM. I'll be attending the preview night, so I can a wait a few more hours.

I remember Tony saying the winners would be announced on twitter and they would draw 100 names from the people who actually registered, not from the ticket stubs for a "door prize" at the presentation. The 100 winners would be able to bring a guest.

^ that's what my understanding of the drawing is too. I think those ticket stubs were just from the raffling of the signs after the presentation.

Here's an idea for Tony. Invite the people that showed up for Winter Chillout instead of drawing 100, and their 100 guests. It might be a little larger number of people (some probably wouldn't be able to make it any way), but what was that days final count? That, versus the 200 from a drawing? All you would need is your ID badge from the Chillout to get in. Just sayin.

What's the big deal about going to the media event? I'm not really interested. I really don't want to be there at 5AM. I can wait a few more hours and just ride it at preview night.

Why did you write nearly the same thing you wrote 8 notes above in this thread?

For me, I'm just too impatient. We (my girlfriend and I) can't wait to get on it and start to ride. Floorless coasters are our favorite B&M style coasters. Hopefully my girlfriend or I are one of the 100 picked. If she wins, she better pick me to go with her :)

Because it's special to some people. It's fine that you don't want to partake in those types of events. Personally, I love breaking up the monotony of life and getting a chance to be some of the first groups of people to ride a new ride. I like to live life in the moment and these events are definitely special when it comes to that. Sure, I have to get up earlier than normal (630am being my routine wake up hour) but I've always managed to have a great time with some great people. I could care less how many times I ride the ride. As long as I'm with my friends, I'm happy. Of the few events that I've been to, the memories I've made are something I wouldn't trade for the world.

When you think about it, is it really THAT terrible to dedicate 1 or 2 days to getting up a little more early than normal? Losing an hour or 2 of sleep is worth a lifetime of memories.......imo

I get what you're saying, but I don't think it's worth being at the park at ungodly hours just to be one of the first on something new (or a refurbished ride in this case). The ride will still be there later that night and the whole rest of the season and many years after that. If it was my only chance to ever ride it, my opinion would greatly differ. I get it's more about the social experience to you, but there's other opportunities throughout the season that offer a good social experience. Maybe I'm just not seeing what the event is about.

Living in Cleveland, my son and I left about midnight to get to the Banshee media day at Kings Island! We got to the park around 4:00 and there were people outside their cars already having a great time. My son couldn't believe it. Once the gate opened, hundreds of people drove in and rushed to the media box office, then lined up, extremely excited about this event. Maybe early hours aren't some peoples thing, but once you experience it, you'll want more. We did the same for Gatekeeper and loved it. This is the main reason I want to get there early. Plus we have a camp site reserved at Lighthouse Point for the weekend! But Media day is an EPIC time!

So, how about a PointBuzz meet-up of passholders waiting for 7pm? Haha, all the gates will be open, so i may go to the marina gate, just not sure how early i want to be. Sitting all day just for 3 hours of ride time before a long opening day doesn't sound like my cup of tea, but ill do it for CP. =)

Who's sitting 'all day'?

That's what I'm trying to say. I don't know when people will start lining up for the Passholder preview. I don't want to sit there all day just for that. I'm thinking an hour to an hour and a half before 7 is probably a good time to not have to be there forever, but not be at the end of the line of passholders.

I doubt anybody is going to be "lining up". Some may get there a little early for pass processing, but I don't think anybody is going to "line up" and wait at the gates a few hours before.
