Windseeker Testing

^ Yea, no chance of it opening this weekend unfortunately. I'm a little skeptical about it even making Coastermania but we shall see how testing goes over the next 9 days.

^^ Yeah, that's why I put operating in quotes. I read about the delay earlier today.

::UPDATE:: It looks like the LED's are finally working! Also looked like there was some suits (I think Bill was one of them) taking a gander at it.

Just got back from the point and was watching testing today around 3PM, the ride was cycling on the way up and out popped two test dummies falling to the ground. You should have seen the look on the faces of the suits.

At this point I'm a little skeptical of it opening by the 4th of July. I mean, with all the bad weather and all.

Oh man, does anyone have webcam captures of when this happened? That is downright hilarious!

It seems like S&S is the only company capable of making a giant flat ride that operates well.

It is now 1:35 a.m. I think someone left there LEDs on.

Maybe they are working into the night to get this thing going?

That's not a nice thing to say about management.

I guess you don't recall all the downtime that Skyscraper and several other screaming swings had in 2006.

I don't. :) Maybe my memory is bad because of the Huss Giants that are down every year for some length of time.

Opening Day 2006, maXair and Skyhawk both closed for mechanical because they both went into a free swing. people were stuck on the ride for an extended period because they couldn't completely stop the rides.

Maybe rideman has more knowledge of this than me. But, it was my understanding that there was a design change by S&S before the 2006 models rolled out. I thought it had something to dop with an O-Ring and the air chamber. I believe it affected Kennywood, Cedar Point, Valeyfair

There were other parks that got swings that year. I don't know if they all suffered problems. Dixieland fun park, Grand Prix in Myrtle Beach and Lake Compounce.

^ Gee, now i have a feeling those test dummies will further expand time needed for testing safely with humans on it, and also further the time we wait for it to open....: /

Though I have no reason to doubt toocool031074, I'm a bit sceptical that dummies "popped out". If dummies did fall off the ride, maybe they were set somewhere they shouldn't have been and not secured. But, restraint systems don't just "pop" open. Besides, even if they did, there is a seatbelt keeping it form opening as well.

Not buying it at all. The only way that would happen is if the restraint was not secured. Really?

Promoter of fog.

If the ride host said "check" then I would know the restraint was secure. But if they did not say that then I can't be so certain.

JuggaLotus's avatar

Only one "check"? I'd still be wary at that point. It takes at least 2 "check"s for the restraint to be secured.

Until I hear from at least 3 people at the park legit stories of the water dummies falling out, I refuse to believe that post was real. I find it hard to believe that out of all the PointBuzz members, there was only one person at the park that saw this.

There was the same rumor going around about Kings Island's WindSeeker and it was started by someone who didn't have any merit about it and someone who isn't a fan of the park at the moment. I'm in close contact with KI's PR Manager and he told me for sure it didn't happen.
