I was just having some fun with it.

Wow. The newspaper that's able to MAKE UP a story that has the mayor sending letters to CF asking them not to move, can't pick up a story about an accident until almost a week later. That's some high-quality journalism.

The Sandusky Register never fails to make me laugh... First of all they use a old stock photo that shows people having fun on the coaster... then they make it sound like the "rollback" that occured was similar to Dragster by saying it "failed to make it up the lift, and rolled back". They said nothing mentioning anti-rollbacks, or any other safety mechanism. They almost make it sound like it is something that happens occasionally.

I know it's somewhat minor, but the fact that it comes from the Register just makes it all the more annoying.

Ripcord Crew 2002 / MF Crew 2004

Or maybe CP "asked" them "nicely" to make the story sound like a non-event. :)

I think Tambo is on the right track.

But what do I know, I'm full of crap.

Oh yes tambo is right! Without Cedar Point giving them “inside news stories”, the Sandusky Register would not have a story.

The fact remains that none of the victims was even transported from the park. That means the most serious injury from this incident was less severe than what happened on Magnum last year.

And according to the Laws of the State of Ohio, neither the Magnum incident nor the Wildcat incident qualifies as a reportable "accident".

No judgement is to be expressed or implied. These are the facts as I know them.

If a collision in which riders sustain sprains is not an accident, then something's wrong with the Laws of the State of Ohio.

C'mon Loopy, no reason to nitpick about every detail and try to show people up.

The fact is, Dave is a very trusted source on here when it comes to ride inspections and laws. And he has credentials to back that up. The Wildcat incident has been shown to be a fairly minor thing, no reason to try to keep blowing it out of proportion and feed the flames of sensationalism

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Accidents do happen. But it is becoming clear someone at the park doesn't care about their job. Just like when you go through a drive-thru and you can tell the person is just there to make a buck. It used to be that everyone loved the park. I mean they worked there way up from the bottom (Kinzel). Working for Cedar Point was their dream. They were so passionate about it. It's sickening how it's being handed over to people who don't care about it. They are just trying to raise their bottom line. That should be a good thing. Except they don't seem to care how they do it. I really think that might be why Kinzel stayed on.

Oh yeah. I'm a first time poster, long time lurker.

I'll probably go back to lurking after this post. I'll only post on here when I have something really good to add. Rules are rules, and Jeff had to protect himself on the twelve thing. Rules are a bit strict around here, but maybe that's what keeps it organised and feesible.

You guys might be interested in how this made the news.

Gimme a break Pete, he stated what he called a fact and the truth was already out there. No "sensationalism" in it at all, just the facts. In fact, the Register played it down more than I'd expect a newspaper to do. All you CP and CF lovers just can't face the fact that they can have an accident just like any other park around.

The fact is, he made an incorrect statement. But I guess that's OK to do these days. Was it late and he was tired?

I'll never forget that time I was getting off the plane in Bosnia and had to run to the car due to sniper fire.

Seriously Loopy - maybe its time to find an extra hobby or something. Leave the nitpicking to the GOP.

JuggaLotus's avatar

Dave - out of curiosity, what WOULD qualify as a reportable accident?

So correcting a completely incorrect statement is nitpicking?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

It just seems... petty, to put it nicely.

Loopy's avatar

I don't find it "petty" in the least. Just my opinion and I'm entitled to it.

If I were to state something incorrect you can bet your sweet ass someone would correct me so I'll be damned if I'm going to let a complete incorrect statement from someone else just lay, no matter who it may be.
