I heard that the WildCat crashed today, it is listed that it will not be open today on the cedar point website. Can anyone tell me what happened?

Now, when you say crashed, what exactly do you mean?

I believe he means 2 cars ran into each other at a high rate of speed....higher certainly than is the norm for Wildcat.

I guess that it went up its hill and the chain broke and it rolled down then hit the other cars in the station injuring 14 people. Does it have an anti rollback system on it?

I guess not, if that's what happened.;)

It does have one, but like anything mechanical, it CAN fail.

I wonder what caused the chain to break?

Of course it has anti roll backs, but small steel coasters have been known to roll back down the lift. And are you guessing or do you know that's whats happened?

[url][url]On opening day Wildcat was down, and some fellow point buzzers and I saw four or five maintenance workers working on the top of the lift hill. It looked like they were doing some work on the chain. I hope this rumor isn't true.

Not another rumor. Then again it could be true. Let's wait for another person to back him up on this. I still hope it's not true though, 14 people injured, thats bad.

I don't know about injuries, but I had previously heard this, and think there is some truth to it. (At least the rolling back part)

14 injuries? Only 4 people can fit in a car on WildCat.

Rollbacks on Wildcat are not uncommon. A rollback from the lift however would be very bad. Hopefully it's not true.

^^ Think of the other people on the other cars in the station

Last week Wildcat had a little down time, I think mainly due to weather. But I rode it several times through the week and everything seemed ok. Dispatch seemed a little longer than last year, and they were using the usual amount of cars, which I think is 6 or 7.

True, only 4 people fit in a car, but if it rolled back to the station it could cause all kinds of trouble for those loaded in the next couple of cars, not to mention the operators and those waiting in line.

I'm sick if this is true. Not only for those that may have been injured, but just yesterday I posted to another thread how much I love the Wildcat and how I hope they keep it forever.

This ride's getting old man, but it's still a good ride. Maybe it needs a little more attention that it has been getting.

I hope this isn't true, but if it is, I agree that more attention to the anti-rollback and the ride in general could have prevented this. I guess we'll have to see. :(
