WildCat

I just talked to my friend who works at the point and asked about wildcat. She was with a bunch of people in the midway and they said the rumor is NOT TRUE. I have no idea where the people on the other forum got that information about wildcat.

Considering the YoYo accident in California is all over the news, I'm pretty sure if a park as famous as CP had an accident like this it would have hit the press by now. Everyone has a camera on their cell phone now.

Something would have hit the news by now. The top story when you do a news search for CP is still the kid who ate a pot brownie!

The thing is, there was a similar incident on a "Wildcat" type coaster years ago. I remember seeing it on the "daily news" section over at Coasterbuzz fairly recently. It seems as though someone simply enjoys lying and watching peoples' reactions.

Two magnum trains "bumped" last year and it was on the news here in Columbus the same day. And one might think there is even a 1% chance something like this could happen without it being on CNN? No chance.

Time to put it to rest.

The media aren't seers with crystal balls. If nobody called them to alert them that such an accident happened, how could they learn about it?

That being said, I doubt this incident actually occurred -- or if it did, it was probably much smaller in scope and severity.

The local paper combs over the emergency logs daily. Don't you think a call where they transported that many people would've caught their attention?

I am willing to bet that some sort of "incident" took place. The magnitude of it can definitely be debated.... I do not believe that 14 people were injured. I do not even know if anyone was injured... But I do believe something went wrong.

Not to trivialize the situation if there truly was an accident, but doesn't Wildcat bump cars all the time? The empty cars always bump into each other as they move from unload to load.

I'm more willing to bet nothing happened at all. It was running only sporadically all opening weekend as well as "first monday". I just chalked it up to the laundry list of rides with huge amounts of down-time thus far.

Scott, the problem is that the cars bumped as a train went from lift to ready, or so the story goes. And that bump is definitely NOT normal.

Goodbye MrScott

On Friday evening something happened but I did not see what. What I saw was at least 2 of the little ambulance runs between WildCat and the First Aid station. There was someone lying on the ground in front of WildCat being administered to by emergency personnel. This was right around 6 or 7 PM as I was heading toward the train tracks. A bit later there were a few CP police and maintenance workers on the ride platform, and Dick Kinzel was on his way toward it as I was walking in front of the Goodtime Theater. The ride remained closed the rest of the evening as far as I saw.

Last edited by Emmy,

There is still only one car on the track, and it appears to be sitting on the transfer table (didn't walk close enough to decide if it was just parked way up on unload). I would not expect it to be open any time soon. The other cars are being stripped down and possibly rebuilt as of the last time I heard anything.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Someone lying on the ground in front of Wildcat does not mean it has anything to do with the ride. People fall, faint, have heart attacks, etc. all the time.

If a guest was injured by the ride, the news would have it, there would be pictures on the internet and CP would make a statement. There is just no way that I can think of in this age of instant communications that an accident could be kept out of the media. Someone would have snapped a picture and it would be all over the news by now.

A rollback on Wildcat would be a big deal, unless it happened at the very bottom of the lift. The tight turn at the bottom, even before any collision, would cause very bad things to happen to the riders.

Whatever the problem with Wildcat is, I think it is very safe to say that no guests were injured.

Well, from the anecdotes being provided here, something happened. So either people on this site are lying about what they witnessed, or the media dropped the ball on it. I'm just trying to figure out a way to reconcile the two.

Things were a little tense in my room that night, to put it lightly. And now that I think about it, I did notice quite a bit of activity between First Aid and the direction of Wildcat. Being right across the midway from First Aid most of the day, it is hard to not notice scooter activity, or managers and other important people rushing from the caf or corporate.

People here are witnessing part of a non-story? There was nothing to see (at least nothing that was related) and so there is no story for the press to run. The press doesn't miss this kind of stuff. So it would have been all over the news if there had been an accident.

I was walking by it when it crashed.. I did not see it 'til it happend though. Everyone watching it and in line said a train came back down the hill and hit another train.

I do know that some of the injuries were pretty bad. One kid was taken away on a stretcher with a neck brace on.

Something did happen... Nothing made it to the news.

Ok i agree with the majority of people on here something happended because wildcat is closed, but i think no one was injured and someones lying on here, because the news always cover what brittany spears did today and you think they arent going to cover Cedar Point Roller Coaster accident? they would jump all over it ............
